Ricer 4th Gen Camaro DRIFT WEEK car review?! Is it any good?

  • @hawtlaps shows me his 4th gen Camaro in this episode and lets me drive it! I actually liked it, other than the super lazy V8, but even that wasn't bad. What really surprised me is liked the steering a lot, and the car handled very predictably. It was a pretty dang cool Drift Week car!

This kid built something unique awesome and functional and the whole time this guy is like this thing is awesome to bad it sucks and it’s slow. It works dont it? He kind of did the same thing to the guy who built that gs300 drift taxi. Just kind of sneak dissing the whole time while also complimenting the car. If you know anything about the Japanese drift culture, you know this car captures the spirit of it better than most imported JDM cars.
Japanese drift culture is all about hacking shit together in a way that makes it work perfectly against all expectations of the unfamiliar eye. It's about not taking your ego so seriously and having fun decorating your car with random stickers.
I own a Z28 myself and I went with a more Euro inspired look. Which is why I fucking love this guy.

I've for a very long time thought that those are about the best performance per dollar american "fun" car available, despite what you said, which is true. Corvettes used to occupy that spot but every owner thinks that because theirs is the only '83 automatic with the big engine in a specific shade of grey and black leather interior made on a tuesday by a man with red hair, that it's worth 5800 over book value lmao and while I dislike the sloping nose of 3rd and 4th gens, I think the third gen specifically actually looks really cool, and I've wondered what they'd look like as a drift build. Different front clip, round led lights, widened front fenders and lots of camber, bolt on overfenders at the back, with idk the lower half of the rear bumped sawn off and i'm trying to think of wheels possible enkei rpf 1s? Or I've heard you can screw on bmw m3 wheels with no modification, so some e92 ones in 18 would look sick. Welp off to adobe illustrator lol

I bought Z28 in mint condition for $600. Lol... Even came with factory fiberglass hood. Paint buffed out. Has 220,000 miles and everything still works. The down side is long stroke, small bore 5.0L with maybe 140hp. Opposite of big bore, short stroke 300hp 1st gen 5.0 Z/28. But $2000 used truck LT 5.3 produces 400hp with only intake & exhaust. Boom

@@jacobl6714I personally like the front end of the 3rd gen but there's also so much room to really change how the car looks! Could look cool with just a bash bar showing and some aftermarket led brick lights. They are cheap and a clunker wouldn't be a bad option for a full out build like you're talking about. Engines and transmissions are still fairly priced and easy to find so as long as the body is strait, everything else can be easily fixed. There's some sick 3rd gens out there and quite a few parts available. You can completely change the suspension geometry with bolt on parts which gives it an advantage over some other muscle cars. I know thats true about corvettes:/ I can understand if they're meticulously maintained and in mint condition but even the high mileage corvettes are over priced.

@@brandondeel3567 Exactly, exactly. I have nothin to add, spot on, other than I like the front too I just wish it wasn't pointy, on both 3rd and 4th gens. The bash bar would look cool, and I started inventing a body kit for 3rd gens just haven't taken the time to get to the rendering process yet, in 3d anyway.
I think they'd look mean with a small roof spoiler and a ducktail at the back. Dovetail? Whichever one is the kinda spoiler that sticks straight up, ideally shaped like the one on c6 z06s/zr1's to keep it in the family. I go back and forth all the time on wheels though, whether jdm or euro would look good, but my hope is they'll become the american S13 effectively, as s chassis are (sadly) inflated and crashed and modified into oblivion/unattainable prices.
If you're interested there's a video lone star drift did of a guy with a 4th gen that it turns out you can just mush s13 overfenders onto and it doesn't look bad here's the link:
