  • Anarcho punk band Crass formed in 1977, releasing 6 studio albums before disbanding in 1984. A compilation of singles and oddities titled 'Best Before 1984' was released after the band broke up.
The 6 studio albums I will be ranking are:
    Feeding of the 5000 (1978)
    Stations of the Crass (1979)
    P____ Envy (1981)
    Christ The Album (1982)
    Yes Sir I Will (1983)
    10 Notes on a Summer's Day (1986)

Which band should I do this with next? Seeing as though The Clash have been on the end of some crass statements I'm half tempted see how their discography compares.
I've also gone down a bit of a Chumbawhamba rabbit hole as of late too......
I love music of all genres and will consider any suggestions that are a complete 180 to Crass.

Great video, thoroughly enjoyed it as I watched all the way through. Sounds like you have a lot of love for Pete, and rightly so!
I don't like putting things in order, as to me it's like having to choose from so many that I feel guilty about deeming my favourite band's work inferior from one record to another, but of course we all skip certain tracks. So, unfortunately I can't choose a favourite song either, as there's so many and for different reasons, and depends on mood. Once again, great video though, you done a bang up job with it. I've subscribed for more.

Dude thank you for finally saying what I've been thinking for years now, Pete Wright is such a phenomenal bassist, he completely blows my mind, absolutely the glue and secret sauce of the Crass sound, and definitely the most under rated bass player in all of punk.

The funniest comment on Crass at the time was a cartoon showing a punk coming out of a record shop with the latest Crass album, throwing the record in the nearest bin and happily walking off reading the sleeve! A little harsh, but considering "Yes Sir, I Will", fairly understandable. For my taste, Penis Envy was musically the strongest, What the Fuck being truly haunting and claustrophobic, and Feeding of the Five Thousand was them at their most straightforward. I agree with Pete Wright being underrated, and he still complains that he never really achieved the chunky bass sound that he wanted. Crass were one of the few bands that deserve to be called "seminal", the only other band doing anything like them at the time in terms of pure independence were Prog band the Enid, whose albums were only available by mail order from the band itself.
    Great video!

@BurntDisc she was in a band called ' Fatal (fetal🤔) Microbes prior to her Crass association. Pete Wright was the man… his trio of songs on feeding are probably my fave crass tracks ever, especially securicor. I downloaded the multitrack masters for feeding and it was a joy to just listen to his voclas and bass in isolation, absolute genius. Actually listening to pennys drums in isolation he really could play, wasn’t all just um cha um cha… lot of jazzy/swing flare going on
I’m sure you’ve heard it but if not, another great crass song is Honey Bane - girl on the run, basically crass as a backup band for honey bane, Pete’s bass on it is just superb

@@BurntDisc they released the multitracks a while back, the entire album, think it’s a 16 track recording. They released it so people would remix it, and they’ve made albums of these remixes…for the most part they are awful, someone takes a shitty drum n bass drum loop and puts that over the song and cuts up the lyrics …. Didn’t see the point of it…. I don’t think you can still download it but possibly can, it was on their site. If you search google for CRASSWORDS REMIX PROJECT uou shoukd find the site. There’s a link to a Google drive with the stems but it looks empty…. I’ve got it saved on disc but it’s about 40GB

You are right about how crass played places where no band had gone before.I saw them many times in Bradford,Hebden Bridge,Todmorden,Cleator moor,Bristol,Birmingham and London.Pete Wright was probably the only one you would call a musician.N,A.Palmer the rhythm guitarist only played barre chords[i.e. one finger across the strings] Feeding the 5.000 is not technically an album but a 12inch E.P. playing at 45rpm.
