  • For almost 50 years daredevils from far and wide have taken to the Central Australian dust and dirt in the country's roughest and toughest off-road race.
    Originally filled with Alice Springs locals the Finke Desert Race now sees an army of interstate competitors join the crowd racing across the landscape to the remote community of Aputula there and back again.
    It's a race that's broken bones destroyed vehicles and even taken lives.
