Since 7 years old my uncle teach me what was positive and negative in electronics. And ever since then I've taken things apart, to see how they work. And when ever I get a chance I try and see if I can either modify something or make it myself. I recently built my own Bluetooth speaker which is way louder and way better than whatever you can buy at the store. I build my own electric scooter, I bought all the parts on eBay and save myself a lot of money. It just say I have a scooter that goes 35 mph and I spent less than $400. Not bad scooters that go that fast are over $1,000.
This is pretty neat! I would put the sweep functions on a 3-position switch to avoid the constant toggling. Also, the compass isn't going to be very useful, even for evidence, as anything trying to influence it will be fighting the speaker's magnet.
I love this... and I'm going to build it... I have a very old oscilloscope, with lots of dials... I'm going to gut it, and add most of your ghost trap stuff... it would be cool to also have a stop scan and be able to stop on a specific frequency... and then have a short range transmitter somewhere in the room... that could be broadcasting mostly static, but also "ghost" words... that way you could be scanning, but them lock on to a "ghost"...
great on paper however you are getting false positives having the compass so close to the speaker, every time you get a sound the compass points north towards the speaker because of the magnet in it
There are shields for the Arduino that also have the capability of recieving AM like the Sparkfun SI4735 AM & FM Receiver Shield but you will have to adapt the code for it
The VIN can also act as an 5v output on the Arduino board. I can’t remember why i did this but its certainly because the other 5v pin was already in use
Hey I recycle everything computers, modem, and so on all metals,do you think some of this equipment is still salvageable-it work and some that don't but the part or useable,so if this can been of use to you I won't be glad to help out more than honor.
I would have to get into the code again, its been some years i wrote it. Is the potentiometer hooked up to the right channel and connected to VSS and VCC?
Wow, weeks of learning computer windows 7, USB port problems, and Arduino problems with the steep learning curve of it , I have got this man's code cut and pasted into a scetch that has the TEA5767 and TM1637 as described and 1 switch, but all switches checked. I can celebrate this with a night off and return to why the radio module doesn't work tomorrow. I pinned both modules to the 5v output and am getting a buzz and pinned the Radio module on A4+A5 . No radio. Any suggestions anyone?. Thanks Bob
Hard to tell… some radios have all the circuitry integrated in a single blop chip. You could certainly get rid of all the guts an replace them with an Arduino and a fm radio board, this all only costs a few bucks.
hi, i connected all the wires as you showed in the video, but the potentiometer, 4 digit screen is not working i tried many ways to fix it but nothing helped. do you know why it doesnt work?
I'm not trying to sound ungrateful, I think you make VERY pretty toys. I'm sort of confused on why you need a forward, reverse, and random scan direction. Is this really applicable to ghost detection? Just wondering, or is it just to fill up space on the box. I'm also curios if your compass is stuck for the most part always pointing North toward your audio speaker.
The foreward, reverse, and random functions are important to be used to further proove the validity of spirit recordings in real time, thanks again dude!
@@globmobgoblin Thank you savvy one, I was totally off here, I had assumed it was attached to the scanning of radio frequencies, not a recording device.
@@maryjaneevadiamond6359 no it totally is the radio frequencies, so say your capturing something in the foreword scan mode, if you were to then switch its function to random or reverse and capture the same voice or voices its a good way to prove and show how the spirit box actually scans the radio waves in real time, making it impossible for the minor sounds that may come in while scanning to create full sentences of the same voice, great for heavy non-believers👍
I have visually seen five different spirits in different forms and would really love to have a device to communicate with one when I want to communicate with one like my mother whom I saw for about fifteen seconds in her house: which I live in, three days after she died at a car wreck.

I would try adding one piece after another. Check a simple script for the serial monitor. That will show you visually if all the switches or potentiometers are working correctly. Try the radio shield with a pre-made code from google to see if it works. Then use the Ghostbox code and add piece for piece. The code should run even no switches or potentiometers are connected. Check that everything is wired to the correct ports and you use ground from the board not from the powersupply as a return line from the poti f. Ex. It needs to be common ground!

Hi Bob, thats a complex question… there are probably lots of reasons why the lcd introduces a buzzing sound. Did you tried to shield the lcd or put it away as far as possible from the radio board? Maybe try to adress other outputs on the Arduino board that are further away from the radio shield. It could also be that the lcd introduces noise thru the data or power line. I am honestly not experienced enough to tell you a proper solution because i did not encounter that issue. What i would do (and this is not a suggestion only an idea) is to put a smoothing capacitor in line on vcc to the lcd or gnd to see if that helps.

You can buy an amplifier for the arduino too. Which would you recommend if we didn't want to buy a radio?
Have not tested it yet but sure there are multiple options. I think the form factor will be an important point depending on your housing.
