i got a chuckle out of "baked in a closed pan to preserve all the flavor" when it obviously is to make sure the loaves fit the packaging.

As a non-American, is it odd that there are very few people of colour in these films?

This was the mid-1950s, where you would be lucky to see any at all! This video actually shows more than what one would normally see during the Jim Crow era.

I know I'm gonna get a lot of flack for saying this, but I'm gonna say it anyways, because it NEEDS to be said - if they still showed films like this to kids today, mid 2021, this amazing country wouldn't be 30 trillion in debt, and being ground down by rioters, looters, gang bangers, communists, socialists, progressives, BLM, et al, and we wouldn't be tearing this country apart & tearing at each other's throats. We should be PROUD, not ASHAMED, of this amazing, free society we have had built called America. Free market capitalism, democracy, & the Bill of Rights have given us the most powerful, most knowledgeable, most opulent, most creative, most kind, most protective nation ever to grace the face of this Earth. We should be celebrating our freedoms that 99% of the rest of the world can only dream about. Not trying to destroy our cities and everything and everyone who came before us today. Yes, history is filled with villainous people. History is fraught with horrific acts committed by horrific people upon other innocent people. History is full of tyranny, evil, death, imprisonment, abuse, murder, slavery, death, torture, war, and every other horrible deed humans have thought of. Even so, History be what it is, we today must not forget the atrocities committed in the past. We must learn from those awful mistakes, not pretend they never happened. We should be lifting one another up in this wonderful country, not tearing each other down. Freedom truly is a state of mind. You are only imprisoned if you BELIEVE that you are. No where else can any person, regardless of sex, color, creed, sexual identity, religion, race or sexual preference start from nothing, and become billionaires. All it takes is belief in our freedoms, ingenuity, and some elbow grease. Anyone can succeed in America. But if we don't turn this ship around quickly, we will pass the point of no return, and like so many nations before us, crumble into nothingness. Don't give up on the American Dream.
And I'm not some 85 yo fuddy duddy saying this. I'm only 45. I play video games, I read manga & comics, I'm into sci-fi, I play D&D, I'm an Otaku. I also like to fish, camp, hike, & sight see, as well as travel. Unlike so many others of my generation, I haven't given up the dream as a falicy. I still believe in American greatness & American exceptionalism. It's not too late. Keep the dream alive.

You are right that seeing the things the lead to the comforts we see today and why we shouldn't take it for granted would help encourage people to be more willing to work, but the thing is, we DO watch videos like this in school. It's just by the time we're able to apply it, we're kind of left to our own devices because we legally aren't able to do anything useful until we turn 18. I personally think on a similar track you're talking, kids should be better prepared for adulthood by 13 and put in paid apprenticeships up to 18, then follow a guild system or go to college based on what they want to pursue. Not forced to be told things that we all end up forgetting the minute we graduate. Math, Science, Social studies and English are all important, but really are best taught until around 6th grade, THEN swap to practical skills, THEN near the end of highschool go back to the math, science, social studies and english with the memories of those physical results in mind so they know WHY it's important. With practical training, the school system is the first step to improving life and productivity among Americans. BUT also we need to stop being so greedy too. 90% of why we "cant afford a home" is because we keep stealing from each other to make a living, as if "dollars" alone build houses, maintain roads, etc, but no... it's people willing to work those jobs who do it and if no one wants to do it cause they feel it's "beneath them" then the organizations will pay those who ARE, OR the roads will remain in shambles as everyone wants to be a "youtuber" or an "artist" and treated to a 3 br high quality studio in Central Park New York.... People NEED this reality check, and they need to feel the pain of NOT having it so they practice a little humility.

"What's the point of freezing bread?" Making it last longer than the afternoon you buy it before it turns to mold city.... I wish staleness was the problem, but you see those green and white blobs when you're about to make a sandwich and end up puking all of yesterday's grub.

Reminds me of those faux "stone columns" you can get for your house that's actually made of styrofoam coated in concrete, purely for the look, but hey, why waste days chiseling for the exact same final result? XD
