    Questions:
    1) With the decline of sailing in the Australia/New Zealand market, does there seem to be a lot fewer transpacific cruises?
    2) When you arrive in Asia after a 13-18 day crossing, it it hard to recover or should we plan a couple days of rest?
    3) Do these cruises generally sell out?
    We are looking at the Discovery Princess from Seattle to Yokohama followed by the Celebrity Millennium 13 day through Japan, followed by 10 days in Manila, followed by 10 days in Singapore. We will probably fly back in December from Manila as the airfares are a lot less than flying back from Sydney.
    Do you like complicated itineraries???

    Jared just booked us and another couple on our Hawaii Anniversary/ turning 50 cruise!
    Not exaggerating one bit when I say he is on point with everything. He also is great with making sure we are all taken care of. I worked on that side of travel many years ago and I have to say it is not as easy as he makes it look. So a huge thank you.

I will be doing my first ever long cruise that is longer than 8 days this Sept/Oct....16-night Hawaii cruise R/T from Seattle, can't wait. Surprised to hear things on the ship closed up early in the evenings. Haven’t done a transpacific yet but have done many transatlantics, 4 in the last year, some with up to 8 consecutive sea days, and nothing ever closed up early.

    • @JJCruise

      For us, the casino was the biggest shock but also made sense given the staff needed rest before waking-up early in the morn to open again. Still open until midnight most nights, but not the usual 2-3 am closure. :)

    I'd love to go on a transpacific cruise, thanks for the visa tip as my wife and I started out using a horrible travel agent who would take weeks to return our calls and upon requesting a list of cruises he sent us 4 cruises, no links to multiple cruises or any help at all so we ended up booking directly through royal Carribean. There are probably some excellent TA's our experience was horrible so booking directly was less of a hassle

    I'd love to do a transpacific cruise, but the cost of flights, especially business class (my partner has mobility issues so standard economy is a no go) and pre cruise accommodation in the US is a major hindrance. Glad you enjoyed the cruise, and I hope our unusually cool and wet spring 2022 didn't stop you enjoying Sydney whilst you were there. I hope you had a few days to explore Sydney and surrounds.

    We were on a similar itinerary on Ovation of the Seas in October and it was awesome. The only really big issues were related to time (and this applies somewhat to transatlantics as well). The app, cruise compass and signage couldn't get the date, day number or day of week straight. We were invited to an event on the Saturday that didn't exist.
    iPhones etc. set the time zone by city, and there are times the ship time is in a time zone that doesn't exist so you can't set that time zone. Daylight savings time is opposite south of the equator, so if you find a country that has the time zone you are in but they are on the other side of the equator or have a different observance of daylight savings (eg. Samoa vs. American Samoa) you will be out by an hour or a day and an hour. Appointments made with people back home may end up on the wrong hour or day.

I have been trying to find someone who can tell me the difference on this trip between ship time and local time. I would like book an excursion in New Zealand with a private company but even though they guarantee you will not miss getting back to your ship on time I believe they have made a mistake by calculating the amount of time the excursion will take. By my calculations the difference in ship time and local time will be 2 hours. Can you tell me what the time difference was on your trip?

    I can get sea sick on a lake. I did cruises across the Atlantic and across the Indian ocean last year. Absolutely no movement of sea at all. I live in NZ and I'd NEVER cruise the Tasman Sea - its notorious. Everywhere in the Pacific shuts down on Sundays.
    You don't need a visa for Australia or NZ - you need an electronic waiver - same as the USA and CAnada - its one form - its a small charge - its really easy and I can't believe people who travel don't read their email.

    • @JJCruise

      Yes, for us in the States its a NZeta for New Zealand. It was super easy as you said, but unfortunately a rude awakening for those that never knew they had to do one AND were already onboard the cruise approaching NZ. Completely agree that its easy/cheap to do, but unfortunately commonly missed. :)

    Nice video, thanks for sharing. At first I thought sailing from USA to Australia would take longer because some days have an extra hour, but in exchange we lose an entire day after crossing the International Date Line. So, if two cruises are advertised as 17-night long, one from Australia to USA and the other vice-versa, which one will be longer? Thanks again.

    If you start in Hawaii you are already halfway across. A real transpacific should start on the west coast of north, central or South America.

    hi guys! i work remotely and would love to work from sea but i need need need internet to do my job, it's zoom heavy. Are there any cruise areas that have great, consistent wifi? im assuming repositioning is out, but if there's any places you think it's great, shout out!

    • @JJCruise
      @JJCruise  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Emily! We are hoping with Starlink we will be able to get more high quality Wi-Fi on all itineraries but as of now, Zoom is a tough one.
      All it takes is for a storm to come into play and the Wi-Fi can get spotty when it wasn’t at all a problem prior.
      We hope yo be able to report back with more confidence after sailing with Starlink on more ships soon!

    • @JJCruise
      @JJCruise  ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately there aren’t Transpacific cruises during North American Summers as that is their Winter in the Southern Hemisphere. The mainstream North American cruise lines move their ships back to North America during those months.

    Hey just a random question here. I'm wondering if you have any experience with MSC cruises. I'm constantly noticing that their cruises are really really cheap and I'm guessing that you get what you pay for but I'm curious about your impressions of the line.

    We’re the travellers without visas allowed onto the ship?……….As an Aussie I’m not sure why people don’t realise they need visas/Or similar as I need them for many places……I often hear Americans complaining about having to get visas, yet we all need them to get into the US…🤷🏼‍♂️
