There is a difference from being a tight wad, tight-fisted, and being frugal. Being frugal just means you set your priorities and spend your money on things that bring you joy…..like chocolate! Thanks for the pro/con video.
We agree, it’s priorities
Very well said!
You are so right
frugal can stretch my money for a long way, enjoy more on my lifetime
My favourite cruise days are when in port. Everyone gets off except me. The ship is mine. Peace! Aussie Bob 😊
Sounds awesome 👏 Cheers Robert 👍
You two are so much fun to watch. My favorite pro was no cooking, no cleaning, etc 😊
😊 thank you Pamela
I love that you play Scrabble! On my second date with my future husband. I went to his apartment for dinner and we played Scrabble. I almost beat him with an 11-letter word! I can't remember what it was now, but he was stunned because no one had ever gotten that close to winning over him because he was so super smart. LOL Needless to say that was one of the things that caused him to fall in love with me 😍 Sadly I lost him at a young age. He was a kind and wonderful husband and I'm sure that the both of you would have liked him. He was a real traveler as well
We are sure we would of all liked each other , we now play Waffle , Wordle and spelling bee after our morning ☕️ coffee funny how such simple things can bring such love in our lives 💕
Wish I can go too. Always wanted to be on a transatlantic cruise.
People, go while you or your spouse is young still. Aging hits hard and fast. 😢
We agree do more in the GoGo years 🙂
I did a TA (Fort Lauderdale to Civitavecchia) on Celebrity Constellation in 2016 and really enjoyed it. I will be doing a TP (Honolulu to Sydney) in October on Celebrity Edge and am really looking forward to it. Our ports are in French Polynesia and New Zealand. If you want to cross the ocean to get from A to B and have the time, sailing is the way to go! These days it’s much more civilized than flying.
Transpacific is on our radar too
I live vicariously through you two. Lol
We have done a transatlantic crossing on the Regal in 2016 and ended in north Germany where we spent two weeks post cruise. Best cruise ever. It’s great that princess has self serve laundry but now we have elite status we get free laundry. We are planning a crossing next October to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. Thanks for sharing your trip.
That is awesome! what a wonderful way to celebrate your 50th anniversary 🥂🥳 Marion , we celebrate 49 this year have a fantastic evening 🚢🙂🍷
I couldn't travel that long on a cruise ship 🚢 without daily excursions. Enjoy. My favorite cruise line is Celebrity. Amazing 👏 food and service and beautiful balcony suites.
Thanks for sharing! 🚢🙂
This looks absolutely amazing! Something to consider when we have the time to travel without worrying about work. Thank you for the inspiration!
Our pleasure! we hope you get to enjoy it too you only need 16 days 🤔👍
You two are delightful and I love your sense of humor.
Thanks so much Patsy!
I love your sense of humor and banter, and really enjoyed this video!
Glad you enjoyed it! Have a great evening Beth 🚢🙂
Your comment about Holland America reminds me of a cruise we took in 2022 from Spain to Portugal on AIDA (owned by Carnival). There was nothing to do, no room service, no food from 3-6pm, and no food after 9pm. We left the ship mid-cruise, and paid $2,500 for a week of hotels/food on Madeira island and in Lisbon, Portugal.
There are strange stuff on some cruise ships!
I had a group of friend do a 70 day south seas cruise for about $1000 per person! It was three weeks before. Food bought, crew hired and such- just fill the ship. Of course most of them signed up for another cruise at a more normal price upon departure.
I love watching you guys, no matter what the subject being discussed ❤
Thank you so much 🙂
After I saw your last video, I checked out next years repositioning cruise and the one from April 4-28 looks amazing. We would add 8 days around the British Isles. I love the idea of 24 days of being in a 5 star hotel, no cooking and no laundry. The only real CON for us is the weather. British Isles would be cooler than spending a month in Portugal or Spain! Thanks for your rambling LOL. Rosie
We will take a look at that cruise 🚢 Rosie , agree it would be cooler but more interesting if you haven’t been to those places before Cheers 🚢🍷
Regal Princess was our first ever cruise and will always have a place in our heart. What a beautiful ship. Alfredo’s 🍕 and Vines 🍷 …what more could you want? 😝
We agree! have a great weekend Cheers 🚢🌺🙂🍻
We always bring our travel Scrabble on cruises. It folds up like a scarf with a bag of tiles, so it fits on most any table in the lounges or buffets. Great way to meet new people with a friendly game.
Sounds great! we agree 🙂
I enjoyed this video. Happy to hear your perspective. We have considered a Transatlantic cruise. I told my husband I would rather be on a ship than a plane that is cramped and always seems to have someone kick the back of my seat! Cheers!
So agree with this way of thinking 👍🙂
Nice to see y'all looking so relaxed and refreshed. I love trans cruises. All the sea days. I even skip excursions on some days to stay on ship. It's like truly being relaxed on vacation. And, I'm with Tina, nothing like a little bit of rough seas to rock you to sleep. And, tightfisted, tightwad, who cares, y'all are living the good life.
Thanks Craig we did have a nice time Cheers 🚢🙂
Very useful information in this video. Thanks!
I like this vid. Good insight.
I am going Transpacific to Australia from Vancouver a year from now 🎉🎉🎉
Not sure I would ever go on a cruise but I loved your take on the transatlantic cruises. You are both so funny!😂
Thank you for your lovely video!
Our pleasure! Cheers Mary 🍷🙂
Glad to see another video from you again!
Thank you Paulette 🙂
Keep it coming, I love it, thanks . 😍
Thank you so much 🙂☕️
Fun video Tina and Norm!
Thank you 🙂
Thank you for all your Wonderful Videos ❤
Glad you like them!
You two clearly have your priorities straight. Cruising and chocolate!
Both awesome 🙂👍
I love you guys! great transparency and honesty!
Thank you
Just got off a teanspacific and LOVED it. What a great way to cross an ocean. Sea days are fun. You dont need to decide on an excursion!!
Totally agree! 🙂
Thanks for your insight on your cruise , lots of good information!😀
Our pleasure! 🙂
You two are obviously totally relaxed and happy. Norm - you are frugal, not "tight fisted". Carry on Gang - you can't be old enough to remember them!. Very enjoyable post. Thanks!.
Your welcome Jo 🍷🙂
I was reminded just yesterday why I so prefer a TA cruise to a TA flight: relaxation, comfort, time to think, meet people, talk.
Sure, it only took 24 hours door to door flying home.
But it's still to be determined when my bag is going to make it home. Good thing it wasn't packed with the chocolates!
p.s. Chocolate is my go-to gift to bring back home, however I'm traveling!
Definitely more relaxing Linda 🙂👍
Thoroughly enjoyed this video. You talked about everything I'd want to know about so thanks for the info.
Glad it was helpful!
We caught a repositioning cruise on QM2 back from NYC to Southampton, booked very last minute! We’d gone on a special 40th anniversary cruise on the same ship S’hampton to NYC 2 mths earlier. We did a 2 month driving tour of New England in the Fall. Then coming home decided that we didn’t want to get a flight ✈️ as planned, so we quickly checked where the ship was on its travels and luckily it was going to be in NYC in 5 days time so we booked it for 1/3rd of out outward journey and weirdly got the identical room!! We loved our time as we got all our laundry done and just chilled out at the end of a big trip.,
Sounds awesome what a great deal you got to finish your trip 🚢🍷🙂
Sounds like heaven.
- NYC
The same room? Hope you played the lottery when you hit land.
@@methemonkeyking yep we couldn’t believe it…. we took ‘any cabin’ so didn’t know until we got onto the ship at NYC …. we were laughing because we knew where everything was 😂
Sounds wonderful and so relaxing cruising this way. Definitely going to check it out. Thanks for the great info! Enjoy your cruise.
Our pleasure! thanks for watching 🚢🙂
we love cruising, great tips. Like to hear more about stock photo business
Such a fun up.firing video guys loved it thanks Wendy 🇨🇦
Thank you 🙂
Of course that should have read a fun inspiring video !!! Oops 😬
Having so much fun listening to you guys , reminds me of my first Norwegian Dawn cruise ship experience couple years ago , we just love ❤️ love ❤️ it .
Can’t wait for the next adventure !😊😊😊😊
Our pleasure! Cheers 🙂
Love these videos, guys. So informative and entertaining 👏. I'm moving closer and closer to going on a cruise!!!
Awesome! Thank you! we hope you try a cruise 🚢🙂
We took a very long cruise last year, Vancouver to Sydney Australia via Asia, and we had eight sea days from Dutch Harbour to Japan. This increased to ten days due to a typhoon and most on board were delighted!
Too much food - a con for us. We started at 3 course dinner to just a bowl of soup by day the end 😂of the
Wow that is long Helen , probably too long for us 🚢🙂
You guys are brilliant , you both have a special dynamic on screen - keep doing exactly what you are doing 💯👍
Thank you! Will do! have a great day ☕️🙂
Thank-you for your videos, they give me inspirations on what retirement can be like when mine starts in 12 years!
That is awesome! glad you are getting some tips 🥂👍
It's making me wanting to go on a cruise now. I sometimes sail to Santander on the ferry and love it. Thanks for sharing ❤️😸
Thanks Lesley 🙂
On our TA, we’ll have only 3 ports, and 8 sea days-the last 8 days of the 14 days. We’re a little nervous, but hoping to relax mainly!
It will be great enjoy 🍷🙂🚢
We enjoyed this video. We just returned from a 14-day Asian cruise with Princess. The longest sea run, five days, was years ago from Hawaii to Canada, which did not appeal to me as it got progressively colder, eliminating sunning poolside.
However, you are enticing me to consider a repositioning venture if it fits into a future plan.
Cheers.
Roger
Your cruise sounds wonderful. Having plenty of time to relax and read is a plus. I must keep a repositioning cruise in mind for my next cruise.
We loved it
Hi Tina & Norm pleased you are having a great time good video I’m sure a lot of people will find all the tips very helpful.
Take care Christopher Barker
Thanks so much 😊
My last repositioning cruises were South Pacific .... Los Angeles to Sydney, and one was Vancouver to Sydney. All last minute deals and including Primier package and a wifi package
How many days is Sydney to LA? What stops are there? It sounds intriguing.
Hope you got a good price for being last minute Rusty 🚢🙂🇺🇸🇨🇦
I love sea days!
What a great video, so informative and I took notes! Hopefully can go on this cruise in the future. Sounds really fantastic! I would love to visit all the places especially the Azores, I have visited Lisbon before but never by ship. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!🚢🙂🍷
Hello! I am new to your channel and I enjoyed your video very much! I always bring a travel Yahtzee game with us when my husband and I go on vacation. A nice change from television! Enjoy your cruise!
Wow great idea ! and welcome Eileen to our channel Cheers 🍷🙂🍻
I was never bored on our Apex TA. But I made mahjong friends and went to f45 everyday 🤷♂️
RCL Group announced they will not lower prices anymore closer to the cruise - we’ll see
Sixty years make a lot of difference. I´ve crossed de Atlantic, from Vigo (Galicia) to Santos (Brazil), in 1958. It has taken, for de Juan de Garay, 17 days. It was a second class ticket on a third class boat.
Great video! Thanks for sharing your experience and expertise. Your pro of no transatlantic flight with jet lag was the reason I wanted to hear about your trip. My husband and I did a 7 hour flight (5pm departure to 6am arrival in CDG) this spring and we didn't get a wink of sleep. Breakfast in my room and afternoon tea sounds a lot better then being squeezed onto a plane and fed miniature mystery foods.
Glad you enjoyed it!Cheers Joanne 🙂🍷
Thk you for sharing.. FYI HERE IN NOVA SCOTIA WAS 18 C today ..🙌🙌🙌 camping season is on the way. lol
Awesome that means we can go to our trailer too Cheers 🍻🙂🍷☕️
A glorious day
Even in Bridgewater NS also😂
20c in southern Ontario - with sun!
good video.
Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Maybe not this year as bookings are crazy, but a normal Pro of a reposition is that it’s less crowded. Cons are less entertaining variety and you are stranded if you get seriously ill.
Always brightens my day to hear the latest from you both; and I always learn something to consider when I next travel. I'd love to know how you manage with just carry on . Consider sharing your secrets of "carry on" travel. Cheers
Pack clothes that coordinate with each other, underwear for seven days and once you have your selection edit it down again.
Sounds interesting. We may take a similar cruise next year. We're scheduled for various trips and events this year through to October. Thanks.
Enjoy your trips
Very nice room !
Thanks 🙂
We just did a transatlantic leaving from Ft Lauderdale on April 14 arriving in Barcelona on April 27. Love a transatlantic for the exact reasons you give. Followed by 13 days in Spain and Portugal. Flying back to the US on Friday.
That sounds great we didn’t have enough days on the Visa to be able to do that but maybe next time Dell Cheers 🙂🚢🍻
I can’t wait until I’m retired and have the flexibility to travel when it’s a good deal. I’m definitely doing repositioning cruises!
Sounds great 👍
When my job finally goes the way of AI I hope to do a transpacific cruise from Australia to where ever I can find the best bargain for all the pros and "cons" mentioned 😃happy travels to you both 💕
Sounds great! 🙂
I enjoy your videos a lot as you seem like lovely people :) Curious to know your opinion on something: what are your feelings on all inclusive resorts? Have you had any experience with those?
Hello Jane, Yes we used to go to all inclusive resorts in the Caribbean and enjoyed them they are cost effective and we might go one one soon.
I like the sea days and in fact am doing an NCL 14 day transatlantic, with 4 of the port day similar to your transatlantic.
Have a great trip!
You only live ONCE!!!! You both like to investigate. Good job!
Thank you 🙂
I use Tru Earth laundry detergent sheets (baby style cause of sensitive skin). I just put a few in a zip lock plastic bag and pack them in my suitcase when traveling. If I suddenly break out, I can remove "caused by detergent" from the list.
Thanks for the tip 👍
@@ThisIsOurRetirement Tru Earth is great! I use the detergent and fabric softener exclusively at home now. They get my clothes perfectly clean, they save a lot of space and they are perfect for travelling.
"Carry on Cruising" sounds like one of the old movies with Sid James/ Kenneth Williams.....have a great trip to Southampton home of Benny Hill....save some room for real fish and chips with mushy peas.
😂 The Carry On Gang! Loved those movies 😀
We loved the carry on movies!
This sounds wonderful. Can you give some tips of Where/How do i find these types of cruises? I've never travelled so this looks great,
Look at Expedia Cruise Ship Cruises and Vacations to go , then the cruise company website 🙂
Wow!! 😮 Your cruise and ship sounds great, Norm & Tina! Frugal and fun! Way to go! I’m rethinking my hesitancy about cruising again… and now is the best time to sail the Atlantic, right? Oh I miss the gluttony!! mmm 😋 munchies. I would “overeat”, for sure. And flying these days is a pain in the neck anyway. Smooth sailing 🚢 🌴 🛟 🩴
Cheers! 🍻 sounds like all “pros” to me.
You should Eric we had a great time don’t be put off by a past experience we weren’t 🚢 as you say flying ✈️ is a pain Happy Tuesday 🍻🚢🙂
I so agree - Flying and airports are my least favorite aspect of travel. Really enjoy your videos!
Glad you're having a wonderful time on your cruise, living the life of the idle rich. Stiff upper lip and carry on!
Thank you 🚢🙂
Love your video on the Princess Regal. We're all gratuities included. Did you have to tip your cabin Stewart when you had breakfast delivered and if so how much.
We tip extra when we get good service both Cabin Steward and room service 🙂
Sounds wonderful- I hear more Pros overall! Just wondering if it was cooler during sea days? We did a cruise out of LA in April and it was very cool. Everyone was looking to buy hoodies in the shop which they hardly had anything, surprisingly on that RC ship they did not have a lot of shops.
Yes the sea days can be cool need to take sweaters and rain jackets just in case Cheers 🚢🙂
Luvs this. We are behind you guys by a few years lol. I retired two years ago and been after my younger wife to pack it in too. I tell my wife the next time around I am marrying an older woman who will retire first so I can come home from work and the snow is shovelled, the lawn mowed, groceries picked up, supper cooked and house cleaned lol.
You guys only have 16 days without cleaning. OMG … my wife has been on a two year and six day cruise now (me retired May 2 2022). Speaking of cleaning … going to Ottawa Saturday so it’s clean basement level today, main level tomorrow and upstairs on Friday. I have to get to Costco and mow the lawn too before I depart. Lol.
Wow you are really busy in your retirement Todd , need a plan to get your wife to join you Cheers 🙂🍻
@@ThisIsOurRetirement Yep hopefully by year end. She is going to Ottawa too but a bit later. She don’t have as many annual leave days as I do lol. Funny how you watch a few cruises and track prices. If price drops go for it. I say the same to my wife … once retired.
We are now 8 hours closer to London. WestJet just put a seasonal three times a week direct flight from St. John’s to London. We can get there in just over five hours now. No need to fly to Toronto then back track over the province. Opens up last minute cruises out of Dover, Southampton and Amsterdam.
as a recommendation check out NCL they have a northern transatlantic that sails along Canada to Reykjavik and than Ireland the most number of sea days is 2
That sounds awesome we did Reykjavik last year , lovely place but expensive to visit 💰 🙂🚢
Note to self: Bring my own chocolate, tea and scones 😊. I can’t imagine being on a cruise for 16 days, but your mini suite is so nice
It was a lovely room remember we had 4 port days too 🚢🙂
We take a cruise for the ship experience, not the ports, so sounds like our preferred kind of cruise. We are taking our first Princess cruise this June to Alaska for 14 days. This will also be our longest cruise. Not retired yet so about as long of a cruise we can take at the moment. We are looking forward to trying this afternoon tea thing on Princess that we've heard about but never experienced before. We like to feel like we are getting good value for our money.
The afternoon tea thing is a great social, we hope you enjoy your Alaska cruise, they are spectacular cruises.
I'm a late-minute booker too but never less than 30 days if I'm subject to airfare. I just came back from my first Transatlantic Cruise. Great price and 9 marvelous ports (NCL 16 days NY to Rome). I have cruised with HAL, PRINCESS, RC, and Carnival and never experienced that gap in food availability.
That is awesome 9 ports is a lot looks like a great deal you got 🙂🚢
Really enjoy your videos. Keep them coming. How close to the departure date did you book this cruise.
Thank you! we were two weeks before departure
Thank you. Did you book it directly through the Princess website or a 3rd party reseller?
I think being “unplugged” is a great idea!!!!
It was nice (for a short time 😂)
Not my thing but glad some enjoy it
We'll be sailing on the Regal Princess at the end of August on a 12 day British Isles cruise! Getting to Southampton will be a long trip though since we're flying from Vancouver. Ship looks beautiful, looking forward to it! 🙂🛳
We want to do this trip you are doing, it’s a great itinerary, have you thought of an overnight stop in Toronto. Have fun! 🚢😀😀
We’re just going to fly direct and overnight in London. Spend a couple of days there before we board the ship! 🛳️
Awesome
Die with zero is a great book.
It is definitely thought provoking 🤔
Do you have a favorite site you monitor for cruises and tending prices? Sorry if you covered this before..New viewer here
Hi Valerie welcome to our channel , we look at Expedia Cruise Ship Centre , also Vacations To Go , then look at the cruise ships site ie Princess or Holland America and start monitoring pricing Cheers 🍷🙂🚢
You two are so cute! ❤
Thank you 🙂
What's your tipping protocol for the house keeping?
We tip for great service 🙂
Hi Norm and Tina: Was the cruise full or were there still empty cabins? Cheers
Totally sold out Paul 🚢🙂
You guys are a delight. Do I remember that you grew up and married in the UK? Will you see family once arrive?
No family left in the UK
Loved watching this video, we have booked a cruise on the Enchanted Princess next year also from the same port as you guys, we are curious if you have any tips for a Hotel before you sail and any gadgets to take on the cruise, you had a few good ones for the Canadian train trip last year lol
We are also wondering if the $60 package is worth it as we are not big drinkers but I'm thinking you would only need about 2 drinks and the $16 tips to break even.
BTW, it's you 2 what's planted the cruise seed, same as the train hahaha.
Have a great time and safe trip home.
Oops sorry, you said you stayed at the Holiday Inn express, I missed that the 1st time I watched it lol.
We didn’t think the drinks package was worth it so didn’t get it , we have a video out tomorrow with lots of great Princess SECRET tips you should watch that 😂😂
Hello Norm. Do you have a separate channel for your "stock photography business"? 4:33 Have you done any videos regarding this sideline?
No he hasn’t we are thinking we might do one video about it not sure as it’s not really what our channel is about 🤔
You 2 do seem to live a charmed life, not at all jealous!
I notice you mentioned Trans Pacific cruises. Do you know if any of these are cheap relocating cruises? And if so, from where to where and when?
Don’t forget that, well travelled as you are, you have yet to tick the Gibraltar box 🇬🇮😉
The Transpacific crossings we look at are Holland America Vancouver to Japan, used to be $1200 each. The apes 🐒 kinda creep us out ⛰️
Hi you two enjoying your vlogs. I Kano that you do not purchase the drinks and internet package. Could you let me know what the cost of gratuities are please. Thank you
You need to check each cruise line 🚢 they are all different 🍷🌺
I've always wondered if the entertainment, food, and service just as good as a normal round trip cruise out of a US port??
Yes all the same 🚢🙂
One thing we have found is that cruise ships always have plenty of food but lack SNACKS. We have learned to pack some snacks so as not to have to purchase these at the ship shops.
We pack Pringles chips and Twix way cheaper than the ship 🚢 Barbara 🍷🙂
I’d love to have that many sea days but curious how they entertain you for that much time on the ship. Is there live music or comedy every night? When we cruise quality entertainment is a must d so wondering if that’s provided daily?
A full daily list of activities every day 🚢🙂
No way am I a cruise person. One and done. Enjoy yours.
