The first way was correct, point leads, no burr after all sides done. Point behind leaves a burr, which can be very sharp but no durability. You can see this on a scope, burr deforms and is less sharp.
I need to figure out how to sharpen a Johnson silver minnow!
This technique and sharpener should work well for that lure. You can just use your fingers to hold the weed guard out of the way.
