    It's simply amazing that THIS much stuff has to come off to access the headlight assemblies. Thanks for the fantastically detailed video!

      Hey thanks, Chris! I appreciate you saying something as I know we had the previous discussion on making a full length video with everything there- a lot of other people seem to be appreciating everything "in one click" as well- thanks for the tip and for helping to make the channel more user centered. Hope you're well and have a great night man.

    Just finished replacing the drivers side headlight in my wife’s 2015 Ford Escape (1.6L EcoBoost). Took us about 4 hours.
    Would not have been able to do this without such an detailed and thorough video. So thank you!
    I was able to complete the job without removing the whole front bumper. Completed almost all steps until I could pull the bumper off to the side enough to sneak that screw out.
    Again thank you and I look forward for more videos to come!

      Hey there Josh, glad you were able to knock it out and get by without having to take everything off! It is crazy how tucked in things are with this car and we have just been trying to record stuff as we come across it as well- thank you for the encouraging feedback and please let us know if there is anything in specific you're looking for that isn't already on the channel! Have a great night

      @@HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews Thanks for the reply, unfortunately I'm not out of the woods yet. Turns out the headlight assembly I ordered was defective. The beam was pointed much lower than the other headlight. When I tried to adjust the headlight beam I discovered the adjustment assembly inside the headlight does not work (guess that's what I get for ordering the economy part lol). Looks like I'll be doing the job all over again once I order a new part. hopefully the second time around is smoother haha.

    Thanks for the video. I did this job today in about 4 hours and the video was very helpful. I removed the front wheels as well as the fender liners which gave me easy access to those 6 10mm bolts that hold the bumper to the upper fenders.

    I just replaced the headlamp assembly in a 2020 Escape. Ford made it much easier. With a very short 10mm wrench and/or small 10mm socket wrench you can reach in from the top and get to the third screw. You definitely do not have to remove the bumper. It turned out to be helpful to open up the wheel well as described in this video. You can reach in from the top with one hand and through the wheel well with the other to loosen the bolt. There is a plastic clip that you need to salvage from the old assembly to use on the new one.

    • @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews
      @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      WOW. that IS much easier! Glad you were able to use the video to at least access the bumper wheel well. Hope your 2020 Escape serves you well! Thanks for taking the time to comment and hope all is well!

    Enjoy your videos, used the one for sealing the Escape roof rack leaks. Very nice work on your part. Have owned only Fords. Have 17 Escape and a couple of 2010 Fusions. Have removed bumper covers several times for various reasons. Once you do it the 1st time, is much easier 2nd go around. Seems Ford likes to make it difficult to get to one or more fasteners needed to complete the job depending. As you noted, there are times when partial removal can get it done if you're familiar with it.

    Yeah there was no way I was taking out the assembly and taking off a bumper to replace some bulbs. With everything still attached, it took me about 2 hours. Most of that was figuring how how to unscrew the bulbs and which one goes where. Thanks for advice tho.

    Ok, let me see if I got this straight. In order to replace the headlamp I must first remove all four doors, then the back seats, the the luggage racks on top of the vehicle, then do the Macarena….. cheese us crisp…. What the “F” ?

    • @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews
      @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hah! Well at least it's not ALL of those things.. maybe 90% of it though... yeah... standard Halogen bulbs are all accessible from the engine bay. HID / Xenon bulbs are mostly accessible from the engine bay but the ballasts are underneath the housings. If you need to replace the housings for either setup, you do need to remove at least that part of the bumper cover to get to the third and lower screw securing the lamp housing in place. It's a huge pain. Zero points to Ford for that one. I'm not sure if you watched to the end, but at least when you're reassembling everything, there is of course the option to not reinstall that lower screw so that you can remove the lamp housing again later down the road without removing the whole front setup. I know this isn't awesome, but just wanted to address the question. Hopefully the video gives some confidence in how to go about it. Thanks for leaving the comment and for the laugh :) Have a great night

    Have you done a video on how to change marker light bulb ? Theres a few differet styles on the light assemblies with the escape....long stort short i had a burnt out marker light and i had the bulb replaced it did nothing so i proceeded to replace the socket and now still nothing new bulb and socket so now I'm wondering if its a short wire harness thats the issue

    I've had the l/h lens smashed on mine by a falling tree, so hopefully this video is really going to help me get the unit out. It's a xenon, so a replacement is £700.00 uk pounds... However, I've found someone selling a replacement lens only, so fingers crossed as I suspect it's coming from China or similar, but at £40.00 it's worth a punt. - I don't suppose you've ever tried to take the clear lens off before? I'm wondering if it's sealed with silicone / glue etc. and I'll need to clean it all out and re-seal it. I'm hoping that it's possible tbh. Obviously Ford don't seem to sell just the clear bit... (I have an MR2 Spyder and you can put the lights in an oven (low heat!) and separate the lens from the back... and do the same to re-attach them, no cleaning sealant or re-applying it, just heat and pull to separate or heat and push to seal... SO hence thinking it may be do-able on the Kuga/Escape...)

      Hey, thanks very much, Allen- unfortunately I can't at the moment- this is all done on my personal 2013 1.6L SE, so that's all I have access to for the time being. We are considering upgrading to a 2017 or 2018 within the next year to begin again with the next vehicle body style but I don't believe we'll have access to a 2020+ model in the near future with the way vehicle prices are looking these days- hopefully though!

      oh yeah! That would definitely save you some time haha! I'm sure you already thought about this, but just gotta be careful to not press too much into the bumper cover as you wouldn't want to cut into the lamp housing mounting features as well- hope you can find a good one for a steal!

    • @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews
      @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Edgar- the upgrade from the halogen to HID factory headlights is tough. The wire harness is different and it would be complex to modify the system if possible. You may be better off with an aftermarket drop in lamp system with LEDs which work with the halogen wire harness.

      Do you have photos? I realize it's a little late to do a video? I'm having trouble visualizing your process, but I need to get at least one of mine done. The housing has been badly cracked for a long time. The moisture inside never goes away now. I'd love to save a little time. Or a lot of time. This is absolutely nuts. I've changed housings on probably six or seven different cars and never had anything close to this happening before. NUTS!

    I love the video but hate my Escape just for this reason. Mostly it has been reliable and works as advertised. The problem is replacing bulbs, whether they be headlights or fog lights. Like toolman272 I have to pretty much strip the dang thing down to the frame just to stick in a new bulbs. With my Volvo it is two posts, pull them up and unplug the power plug and viola the light is out and ready for changing...2 minutes and done. Ford, 2 hours of cursing Henry’s name, and 2 more hours finding the 1100 fasteners you took out and probably broke as well, 2 hours on the phone with Ford parts guy and then another couple hours driving there to get the fasteners and clips you lost or broke. Then 30 second taking out the 3 T30 Torx screws and then accidentally dropping the loose headlight assembly on the garage floor....

    • @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews
      @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews  11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@alfonsogriffin4093 you should just be able to push them. Its hard, since the power steering is off when the car is off... There isn't a steering lock that can be turned on or off. Sometimes the steering column can get stuck a bit if you lean on the wheel or something as you turn off the key, but just try to turn the wheel as you turn the engine on again. You should be able to move the wheels and steering freely.

      That's a great question lol- yes I DO try to keep up with tags and metadata but I'm never 100% confident I'm optimized properly- I'm using Tube Buddy and Keyword Planner to look for competitive tags... I'm no jedi master though :) still learning. I started to include Kuga in the keywords, but stopped as there are actually quite a few different things between the Escape and Kuga when you get into the nitty gritty and I didn't want to disappoint anyone and have a risk at more dislikes per video to drop the score. Only speculation though- do you have any tips?

      Good question- its a bit lame because its not really a discount to "rent" it, but you basically pay for it outright up front in case you never come back with it. The "rent" part is that they fully refund your money 100% after you use it whereas any other situation wouldn't let you get your money back when you use the product.
