    I really like the fact that you know a lot of your audience is from the States and you use imperial measurements as well as metric on your dimensions. Great project. Need to look through my stash and see what I have for timbers to build the hardwood version.

    I think I'd like to make it with the hardware all made with hardwood and the jaws made of white pine. That way, the jaws won't dent my work, and when they get chewed up, I just replace them.

    John this is inspiring. It's a brilliant idea and I hope that you have patented it (assuming that you can). At one point in the video you said you were afraid that you hadn't explained something all that well. In fact you are one of the great explainers. That's just one of your gifts, but it's the one that would mean the most to me. To be a great teacher is the best thing there is. Keep it up. Next time I'm home I'm coming to find you!

    Simple to you, (you provably work daily with wood), (I might get 5 hrs in a month). The process is well explained between the two videos and that will be helpful - thank you. I think you have a vise system that will be copied many times into the future - well done.

    That was really useful, thanks! I'm going to add on a platform between the two sliding arms (don't know really how to describe it, but Slojberg sells one) to make a nice work surface. I think I'll try and add dog holes to the vice face and the surface so I can use the vise to clamp larger pieces against the dogs. This actually looks like something I can do!!!

    I'm really enjoying your back catalogue of videos as I've recently started woodworking. I love the idea of an all wood vice - partly because the aesthetic but mostly as I'm on a very tight budget. That being the case, I don't have access to a bandsaw to shape the cams but I'm guessing that at a push, it would be possible to use a saw and rasp to achieve the rounded profile on them?

    The holes drilled on the pieces that the cams are attached to are spaced according to your cam design?
    IE 15mm down to your cam pivot, 15 mm and 7.5mm hole spacing?

  • @budlloyd3127
    @budlloyd3127 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like it! out of curiosity, do you think if you did beveled cam arm mortices (or maybe just a little bigger) you should still be able to lock it down just fine, but then it would also give you a little more play for locking in angled pieces? don't know if that's even necessary, but it was just a though :) thanks for another great video!
