How about removing the head light and finding a positive wire that is only hot when the ignition switch is on. I use a probe that has a 12V light on it and a ground wire with a clip.
Brilliant solution. I must look into this more. Constantly having to charge so much gear and reliant on the places we stay for that. This solution makes life that much easier. Thanks Stephan
Very enlightening in the way you’ve chosen to use the battery charger. Enlightening because although not rocket science, a simple application tweak of using the charger as the main power supply as opposed to using it as a backup, which is nothing short of brilliant 👏. Slightly overshadowed but of equal importance is the fact that you’ve proven that the setup works when used in this way for a long term solution, that’s huge. 👍🏾
Thats a great solution, I have a Rowe Electronics PDM60 electronic fuse box from Nippy Normans under the seat and run an SW Motech powered tank bag. Aside from that, mine is much the same. Cheers, Peter.
Great video! I’m a newbie when it comes to electronics and splicing a wire scares me haha. I’ll give this a go on my multistrada. If anyone on here’s done this to theirs, would love to hear/see how!
I have this set Givi S110+S111 - after a year of use, the power from the S110 connector began to disappear, i.e. when you connect everything (S111 with S110 using GIVI tank bag) , there is no power on the S111 hub. You need to try many times to disconnect and reconnect the S110 connectors from the S111 or twist them one inside the other so that the power starts to go again... The problem is still not solved...
Sounds like an ideal solution. May I ask what cable you use to connect your laptop to the Givi block that has the usb and laptop output ports, since this is not included in the connecter and charger pack? Thanks
@@MOTOTravelUK Does the laptop have to be capable of being charged through a usb input connection, since many laptops cannot be charged this way and rely on a DC charging jack input?
Motorcycles have a 6v or 12v power wires... What if you are wanting to put that 5v USB charger on a 52v ebike..? do you need a Shunt to protect your system?
You need a 12 volt power rail. 6 volt power regulators are available as an DIY option. You can directly wire your USB charger to that. Never done it though.
hello thank you for your inputs about how to build a good 12 volts. From your film we can see that the cabels has been cut shorter. Is there video where that are shown. Sorry for my poor english :( Best regards Leif
Hi Leif. Never ever apologise for your English!!! I mean this with all my heart. Back to your Question. I'm sorry there is no other video ion this. But I put it on my list to make one. Honest question from an absolute Newbie. I’m currently in possession of a 125, Would you suggest getting an external battery charger as to not drain directly from the battery? I’m unsure on performance or whether or not this would be efficient for me. Advice would be appreciated.
Ok, your 125 is not a big engine but it is changing your battery anyway. 😀 so there is enough capacity to charge your USB stuff. All the equipment take virtually no current. If you connect everything directly to your battery you have no problem at all. Don't forget to disconnect if you park up. But don't panic, it will not kill your battery within a 5 minute stop. Also if you equipment is charged up, there is virtually now drain at the system. Thanks and be safe.
@@MOTOTravelUK Thank you that's very helpful I appreciate the feedback I'll be sure to keep some of that in mind. I was told that trackers directly attached to the battery would drain it quickly so I was curious as to how USB chargers would effect it's performance.
Yes, you can. Works just great like that. I included the relay in order to pull more power for my aux lights. For charging absolutely fine. I still recommend to wire it into your bikes aux supply so ut switches off when you take the key out of the bike. Just in case you forget to unplug your stuff.
Installing USB charging on your motorbike the proper way. What do you reckon about this solution?

Did that to switch my lights. But honestly. I haven't found anything better. Check out my video on the 5mm plug. The best and simplest thing ever.

This is an giving tankbag. You can't get this one anymore. Also it was to wide. It pushed the horn button 😁🤣.
Still on the bike though 👍
