Firouzja is a clear favorite for future world champ. The kid has the talent and obviously works hard, he just needs some experience and he'll be worthy for a match. Maybe, what, 3 years and he's a solid challenger? I'd say sooner but it takes exposure to those pressure moments to get used to them. Magnus had jitters galore when he faced Anand the first time and those games were kind of ugly, frankly. If he were facing a younger Anand, he would have had no chance. The nerves matter!
@@komabase Too inconsistent. He's one of those flair players who just doesn't get excited when he's not playing against the absolute best. But I agree he can beat anyone when he's up for it.
I was shocked Fabi didn't play Nxg2 after Bc4, I thought he had calculated it all when he spent 40 min before playing c6. You make a good point, I think he had already discarded it but the bigger factor I think was that he had looked at the sacrifice for deadly initiative starting with Nh4+ while after Bc4 the sac is very strong only because you win the bishop tactically after Qh4 followed by c5 which is totally different to what he was looking at before.

I wonder if Alireza and Fabiano are watching Daniel's analysis of their game.
Haha. I think they have much better things to do.
Really nail biting game. Both were fully stretched
Thanks for upload and great analysis.
Tal to a young Kasparov: first you sack, then you calculate
nice quote. thx man.
Yes, nice quote - but did Tal really say that? I think not.
He was kidding, but great stuff.
@@skakdosmer Yes he did: it was in 1978, Kasparov played Bagirov
It soothes my heart to see that Daniel loves Caruana’s games as much as I do
Talk about showing a draw in such an exciting way!
Great stuff, Daniel. Heck of a game.
Great analysis! Thank you!

Really enjoyed this analysis. Sometimes the Chess24 commentators are moving through the ideas so fast I can’t follow what they’re looking at.
Great coverage
Alireza ❤👑👏
Gentle pawn movements. I will always remember to move my pawns very gently in the endgame.
That was fast! :)

When was the last time 2 Dutch players can win in Wijk?
13:20 "if you had two moves, you would want g3 and king g2" -only that would make the position completely lost after Rh8 hahah

NICE
Could we have some photos so we could judge the social distancing conditions the games are being played in?
I suggest you visit the official website
“Anything could happen”? Could Donchenko even win the tournament?
Why, yes! If everyone else was disqualified.
Split rook on h3 ;)
Good point!
Kxg2 is still not a good move, since after c4, white can play Qb3 and if c5 pawn takes kd4, queen b3 picks up bishop at b6. So, nothing for black
I want to buy the Split Rooks mug, but $10+ for delivery is too much! Boohoo... :(
