    So dignified, so intellectual a discussion into the essence of Reality, have I ever had the privilege of engaging in.
    Thank you to this fine, selfless being. To him, we find, in the west, that which was never able to be so clearly digested and calmly and compassionately revealed for the intellect to ponder.
    Quite possibly, this fine human being’s work has assisted the questioning, struggling soul on the path, so much so, that he/she is relieved of needless wandering into more and more exotic, esoteric techniques, disciplines and methods that lead to further weariness, confusion and frustration.

      AeonTv vasanas, karmas, stress, etc., are mind created constructs - it's a mental spun spider web that one may spend eons entangled in. The non-dual tradition presented here is so simple, too simple perhaps for those indoctrinated by traditional yogic frameworks.

  • @atmannityananda-academia

    Peace is always present but as long as the mind is dominated by rajas and tamas, desire and pride no matter how many recognitions one may have suffering and delusion are inevitable.
    Liberation and self-realization are directly dependent on the purity of mind.

    • @mahaprema2
      @mahaprema2 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +AeonTv How is mind supposed to be purified other than through recognition among other means? Devotional practices, etc are also great, but paths are many.

    • @atmannityananda-academia
      @atmannityananda-academia 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      mahaprema2 You have right paths are many. But the end of all paths is deep meditation or Vichara followed by samadhi and finally self-realization.
      For almost all is impossible to start with meditation or self-enquiry.
      In traditional advaita vendata is required first the aspirant to equip himself with the necessary qualifications, which are: viveka, vaitragya, sama, dama, uparati etc.....Then the aspirant is ready for meditation and self- enquiry.
      Nowadays the age of fast food all want to start with meditation and self- enquiry which appeal more attractive than other religious or purificatory practices.
      But as I said meditation is the seventh step in the process of yoga. Without an advanced degree of purity, viveka and vairagya to do succefully meditation or self- enquiry is impossible not to say anything about samadhi or self-realization.
      That's why very view succeed to advance in meditation and nobody is a full enlightened jnani in the west as far as I know.
      There are many deluded that they think are advanced while in reality they are not. There are also many who play the role of spiritual teacher because of some experience or some progress they had in meditation and they spread many false concepts about spirituality both in theory and practical matters.
      Finally no matter what path may follow anyone is a must to purify his mind. How? There are many ways but here is impossible to explain this. The most easy and practical is Japa nama and kirtan.
      I do not say that a new seeker cannot do some kind of meditation or self-enquiry. But this will be only a small part of his sadhana and little by little will increase the time according his capacity to do so.
      Peace, love and light

    Maybe I'm putting this in the wrong place, but, the "both with me and without me". Once I am looking at the computer screen, this is taking place both within and without my awareness. It seems to take place also in what Rupert calls the collective "un"conscious. If the personal infinite mind(When I say personal, I do not mean separate. It took some time to see this with clarity, the difference between the personal finite mind, the impersonal finite mind, the personal infinite mind, and the impersonal infinite mind) is not in time, then if it wanted to "die", all that it would have to do would be merge with the collective. But none of it would really die, it would just rejoin the "larger whole". It does not seem like it has to go there, but that it is optional, and that intent would be the driving force. The personal is often struck down in these teachings, replacing it with an impersonal monism. But, the impersonal and the personal are unified.

    I love Rupert, but he misrepresents science here, putting it inside a box into which it doesn´t fit, just like many scientists put reality into a box into which it doesn´t fit. But there are dissidents among scientists, also making science using scientific methods even:).
    For example, the hard problem of consciousness in its most general definition would be something like: What is the relation of consciousness and "the rest of the stuff we experience"? Meaning, not all scientists start with matter being Material Monists thinking that everything can be reduced to matter. Even "the hardest science" of modern physics is starting to question that more and more.
    While most scientists still might be material monists, there have always been Idealist Monists thinking, that everything can be reduced to consciousness or mind (depending on who you ask).
    And there are both Substance- and Property Dualists - meaning that there are two aspects of existence, which simply cannot be reduced to each others, call it mind & matter; consciousness & physicality; subjective & objective; spirit & nature - again depending who you ask...
    AND there is Neutral Monism, which sorta like includes any kinda dualism with the idea, that there´s is "something absolute" behind the apparent duality. (Which is the metaphysics most dear to my small mind:))

  • @ZENderista

    Can somebody explain to me what he means by "no one has ever experienced matter"?

    • @d1427
      @d1427 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +GuitarJig i could give it a try by using a concrete example that involves pain as one of the most apparently immediate and extreme sensations experienced. Let's say you bang your knee against the table- in the conventional understanding the contact between hard and soft matter causes pain. Now let's look at this experience from the point of view of awareness, as described by Rupert. Table, knee, pain are all concepts of the mind [even mind is a concept/thought]. If you remove thought/mind from the experience, i.e. renounce to label objects and sensations= renounce to the story that tells you that you banged your knee, then you'd remain only with the knowing/awareness= experiencing of the happening/event. Further, even 'you' is a thought. So, outside awareness there's nothing but fabrications of the mind. Awareness is the most primary, intimate, raw experience of Being. As Rupert says, the mind is a filter of this experience by making up concepts useful for the illusory survival of the illusory body in an illusory world made of illusory matter. Clear as mud? :)

      +GuitarJig All physical form is made of energy. Matter can be traced to it's smallest recognizable component and is revealed as pure energy. All that can be truly proven from the scientific perspective is that there is a vibration frequency of resonating energy which we perceive as form. Even a rock is a resonation of vibrational energy and cannot be identified as actual matter.

    Objects exist regardless of being aware of them or not.
    You are seating on a chair, you are not aware of it because your attention is on what you say and what you see in the room. But although you are not aware of your seat, the seat exists and that's why you are sitting on it.
    You are not aware of your brain but your brain continues to function regardless you are aware of it or not.. So you can continue your speech although you are not aware of your brain.
    You are sleeping and you are not aware of your body. The body exists and functions regardless you are aware of it or not. and the morning you wake up the body has recuperated its energy and is ready to function.
    Our awareness only permits us to be conscious of the objects and know them, but they exist regardless we are aware of them.or not.

    • @gardeniabee
      @gardeniabee 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      And doesn't science tell us objects (matter) consist of space and waves of energy, waves and particles that appear and disappear at infinitesimal speed? In another video Rupert discusses our consensus world as being sustained by our 7 billion consciousnesses. I am not explaining it well. It is just a reminder that objects are not independently existent. Further, our senses (slower than appearing and disappearing particles?) only allow us to perceive the world. Without our senses we perceive only consciousness.

    • @atmannityananda-autognosia
      @atmannityananda-autognosia 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gardeniabee but in order, we to perceive consciousness as you say prerequisite is the existence of the body. In deep samadhi although we perceive only consciousness and we have lost body-consciousmes the body is still there alive and permits us to experience Consciousness.
      It is so obvious what I say and doesn't need any special scientific or philosophical inquiry

    It's not possible to have an 'objective' experience. All experience rises and falls in awareness (is made of awareness).
    There's nothing inherently objective or subjective about awareness or what appears in it.
    Our mental faculties provide the means to interpret and assign meaning to experience, i.e. courtesy of the so called mind. Culture allows this layered meaning to be transmitted generation to generation like so much genetic material...you get a communal grooving thing taken place.
    A lot of baggage comes with these mental constructs including the objective/subjective distinction; these embellishments need to seen for what they are so as not to continue overshadowing our natural inner state of freedom or pure awareness.
    We are looking to reacquire the immediacy of experience by dampen the brain's post-event processing activities. This is not a spiritual journey...it's more of a Reality Adjustment, if you will. The re-wiring takes a little time to complete. There's nothing holy or innately special/spiritual about Reality...the mind is so inventive, isn't it? Get your free tune-up here with Rupert 🤓.
    That said, please understand that there's a multi-dimensional aspect to this development...but these non-dualist teachers want to keep that under wraps. It's not as tidy as they would have you believe. Kundalini and the etheric body getting energized is unavoidable. This development is much richer and far more radical than these little essays are able/willing to connote.

    Not true.There isn't anything called suffering there is only experience. And by standing as or "starting from" Awareness, even the thought of suffering doesn't even arise.

      Was that a test (mentioning Obama) to see if we get disturbed or distressed separated from our pure awareness. There appears to be billions of distractions in the world we falsely percieve, so was that mention of Obama an attempt to rattle your cage and disturb your peace.
