    I just discovered your channel. I've been working in acrylics only and love to delve into oil but I have yet to jump in. The information you provide is information and is novel to me. From the palette you recommended to the " multiplier" I find it so useful and fascinating! Total fan and so thankful for you sharing this valuable info! ❤

      I started painting 2 years ago. Started with acrylics, took me 1.5 years but I finally bought a cheap oil paint starter set. Even that $10 set of awful pigments was 10x better than any of my acrylic paintings. Then I started buying student grade mid grade paints and they look even better. Buy oil, you will not regret it.

    Stunning!! Love The mix of the unfinished with the finished. It adds something really special. Its revealing time. And it also feels like you are giving away secrets when we see parts of the underpainting. Do you use a reference photo? Thanks for sharing! I’m learning so much ❤

    I have a question about how you think about color in your under paintings. Do you use the same pigments in acrylic you'll be working with in oil, or do you just choose pigments that will be harmonious or play up a specific mood? I'm such a fan of your work - I love these videos about your process!

    • @Miriamhoffmann
      @Miriamhoffmann  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! I do use the same pigments for the most part, but not because I want my oil to match my acrylic perfectly , but more because I like to paint with a basic and standard color palette no matter the medium. 🥰

    A beautiful painting and another excellent video. Thanks!! You're really great!! (There's a typo-can one correct a typo in TH-cam? You have written squitting instead of squinting.)

    Youtlr videos are incredibly informative! Thank you. How did you do the computer generated sphere please? Is there a software that I can test out my colours and how they affect my portrait x

    Thank you for sharing you really inspire me!! And i actually have a question! What have you placed your oil paint on? And how do you clean it up afterwards? Sorry if the questions are stupid!!!

    • @Miriamhoffmann
      @Miriamhoffmann  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s a great question! That’s called palette paper 🥰 it’s a pad with disposable sheets to put your paint on. Once you’re done you just rip the top sheet off and throw it away. I prefer gray palette paper because it makes it easier to judge color and value 🥰🤘🏼

    Love your art! Did you go to Art school? How did you get the form first mentality?

    • @Miriamhoffmann
      @Miriamhoffmann  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Thank you! No art school, just learned on TH-cam, instagram, and lots of practice🥰 I do lots and lots and lots of really awful perspective doodles (think simple shapes - cubes, spheres, block people, etc) Just always trying to get my brain to see the paper in 3 dimensions. Painting is an illusion, you’re trying to paint a 3 dimensional portrait on a 2 dimensional surface, so little exercises like that really help get me in the form first mindset. It helps to sell a convincing illusion if you believe in it yourself first. I use language that mimics this too when thinking about painting. I’m not thinking about ‘painting a shadow here’ I’m thinking ‘ I need to push this area back into space’. I’m kind of rambling here… hopefully that made sense. 🥰
