Plexiglass is shatterproof but not scratchproof.
That's why triple glasses are installed in modern lathes. Glass, acrylic glass and glass are glued together.
This results in a very high scratch resistance and at the same time a very high resistance to breakage. If this is replaced by a simple acrylic glass pane, it will very quickly become blind with scratches.

I think I'd like to work in that industry. Basically just walking around with futuristic electronic clipboards checking on things. Sign me up! Just saying

Acrylic, great! But when thrown in a landfill, depending on the thickness, takes about 800 million years to start breaking down. You can’t recycle acrylic and most plastics.
    Breakdown: (to start deteriorating)
    🔹Plastic bags, about 1 century.
🔹Laundry detergent containers, about 5 million years.
    🔹Techno-Polymer plastic, 120 million years.

Who would have thought that Mixed Martial Arts had anything to do with Plexiglas.
Was that Connor McGregor with the clipboard?
In all seriousness, this is a very informative and well made video.
Can you make one on polycarbonate plastic if you haven't already? I want to see where my CDs began their life.

It is either Acrylic or Glass, it can't be both.

Glass is does not naturally occur in nature, but it can be formed by nature (volcanic eruptions can melt silica and the hardened result can be considered a rough form of glass), but is man made product. Technically anything that provides a transparent (see through) barrier can be called glass. Acrylic is a polymer based glass rather than the silica/sodium/lime derived glass products.

      🤔 interesting fact.
Most people (me included) perceive glass as what we know as ‘glass’ we see everyday. 👍

Acrylic glass is a glass made of acrylic. Glass just refers to the physical property of letting light pass through. That's why see through dishes are called glassware, but non see through dishes are usually called ceramic. The "glass" that you think exists as an exclusive thing could be called silicon glass. Ceramic has a lot of silicon in it.

I would like to say that Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) does not yellow. PMMA is produced by polymerising MMA into PMMA by using an appropriate catalyst (Peroxide). The choice of Peroxide may influence yellowing, but I am not aware of such a Peroxied and in my humble opinion, I say this as I am now a retired Polymer Chemist of 40 years.

Acrylic is not suitable for car windscreens where the windscreen wipers will collect abrasive dust from the atmosphere and scratch it, making it less clear quite quickly. Acrylic crazes and goes whitish under UV degredation and aging. It is polycarbonate that yellows. How much else did you get wrong?

Acrylic still cvan shatter but not polycarbonate. I don't like the sense of plastic. I prefer low iron glass for the beauty.
