This is an old memory... I am not sure that some today know how much we added to the gay movement... I was part of Act-Up and very political in High School and college... Sadly, many hard days are still to come.

I remember when this song was released in 1990; I was in my local Woolworth's (aged 7) and this was blasting out over the speakers. I always remembered it. Then I discovered it again - 8 years later - when I bought a second-hand VHS copy of NOW 17 from a local record/music shop and re-discovered such great tracks/videos as this one, and a lot of other gems from the beginning of the 90's that I remembered from my childhood.

The lips refer to the mouth and the vagina as both were considered tools to counter rigourists (individuals and the governments) in the 1980-1990 campaigns. His dancing would have made him the star on any gay dance floor in his time. Maybe it did. I never saw him in person. The videos don't do him justice. All closeups, very few long shots showing how good a dancer he was.
