- Have you ever played #ark, and wondered what unconventional dinos you could use to beat the bosses? Enter the underdogs! In this limited series, I dust off seldom thought-about tames and put them to the test! On this episode, we watch as the skittish Hyaenodon puts its pack to the test. Does it have what it takes? At the end of each episode can you put up a sheet showing how each dinos you have tried stack up to each other? Time to kill, dinos lost, number of mutations/levels, and rank them best to worst by over all success in your opinion. It would add time to the videos which may be too much work so if not each video maybe a weekly rap up video showing stats and highlights? Great videos btw. Very cool to watch.

Once you've completed the underdog battles will you be testing them against the overseer as well? Loving this series so far btw!
Maybe, I've never had any issue beating the overseer with any dinos that I've used to beat the alpha dragon and brood. Navigating the tek cave is usually the hardest part of the overseer fight and the pathing is so janky that it wouldn't really be a fair test. I'm going to probably use the island bosses as the main test with future expansion dinos and might consider doing a separate one for Rockwell or the titans when that time comes

-How many buffs do you want for some Hyaenas?
-Y E S
This creature is insane in terms of buffs, they are probably the creature in the game with the most number of buffs:
-Pack Leader increase the alpha's damage by 25% and resistance by 12.5%
-Pack Boost scales per member up to 6 times and gives the whole pack 10% extra damage and 5.5% resistance
-Pet option doubles their damage and reduces the damage take by 50%, but only lasts for 2 minutes
-Tamed Hyaenas recovers extremely Amount of health when ever they bite a corpses (Just like wild carnivores)
Conclusion: They are kinda weak in terms of stats because otherwise they will conquer the game lol

ngl thought these guys would be the 6 feet under dogs. But they actually cleaned up pretty well. Shame your spider mistress is too tough though.

Did you pet the Hyaenodons before each encounter? They double their damage for 2 mins if you do
I did for maybe 1, it was negligible due to the short timer
Are the rules that you always use Primative saddles (or meat-packs in this case)?

I would use Hyenadon more if they weren’t such a pain in the ass to tame.
Seriously, they’re probably one of the biggest ball aches to tame in the game.
Yeah it's easily one of the sweatiest passive tames
I think their taming was actually buffed in ASA. I tamed a few a couple days ago and it was surprisingly easy. They still loose a ton of taming effectiveness which sucks, but if they notice you they only loose 20% affinity instead of all of it, and more importantly don't run to the hills.
