I have used TransferWise for small amounts from the US to Thailand. Excellent rate fee and exchange rate as well. Unfortunately they are not able to transfer funds the opposite way...from Thai Baht to US Dollars. Just be aware of these limitations. Banks in Thailand can easily do the transfer but clip you on the exchange rates and then change you a fee based on the total amount of US funds that you are transferring.
Hi Rob, I'm planning to use wise to transfer send some money from US to Thailand, do you still think it's a good option and the best option to wire fund? Thanks
I am surprised to read of your experience here. While Japan and Serbia might be different, my understanding is that greatly touristed countries such as Thailand offer better rates exchanging cash at exchange booths *at the destination*, specifically at non-bank 'SuperRich' in Bangkok. I am talking for under $1000 anyway.
I didn't have much luck with TW. To me, a bank should be very much like a utility company. It's got to work all the time, every time. When I flick the switch I expect the lights to come on. When I turn the heat on I expect it to work. When I send funds from my USD account to my GBP account I expect them to arrive. TW randomly blocks transfers without any explanation or notice and takes forever to return the funds. Yes they have great rates and you can save 2% on the exchange but you're risking 100% of the capital if they block the funds and take ages to return them.
I use Transferwise to hold my funds that I will be using for vacation in Philippines and wherever I may be passing through to get there. It's only my opinion but I think it's a great place to save the funds you know you'll have an idea you will be spending in that country for vacation. Example I usually go to Hong Kong first, then Philippines. While on my layover I can use their debit card in Hong Kong dollars and not worry about my own bank declining my regular card because I would forget to tell my bank and my card won't work. That's my thoughts.
Be aware that Wise can deactivate and close your account without notice and without clarifications, but the worst thing, that they will not refund what you have in your account, it happen to me with more than $2k in my account. The CS is not helpful at all, they keep responding to my emails with the some generic answer. The other bad thing about Wise, if someone send you a transfer while your account is deactivated, it will not be rejected as they always say in their rules, it will be accepted and added to the funds that you can't be refunded. Think twice Before Using Wise and similar fintech, make your research, thousands of people get their saving locked in Wise and never refunded.
That’s why Wise is more suitable for overseas travelers, with a Wise Travel Card linked to their Wise account, to make cashless small payments at Point of Sale terminals and to withdraw local currencies at ATMs. And the balance amount in the account should be kept low in case the company goes bankrupt or freezes your account. In other words, use Wise as a tool for convenience while traveling and nothing else.
Chase bank in the US is good for Private client customers , they charge no wire fee .Icelandic banks charge about 6 USD equivalent to either receive a wire or send one.

Transfer wise will take over Revolut an N24 by far in terms of market capitalization. Thank you Andrew for talking about transferring currencies between countries. 😊🙏
I just sent money from HK to Thailand, exchanging HKD to THB. When I enter the amount of THB I bought into an online exchange rate, i.e., where they show the middle point between the spread, it was EXACTLY what Transferwise charged me in HKD. Add to that a transparent fee that is around .8%. Not bad for two currencies that trade against each other in modest volumes. By comparison, my HK bank currently has about a 7.5% "we buy/ we sell" spread AND I would've paid wire fees on both ends. Between the spread and the fees, I could've easily been out US$100, and instead I'm out US$5 thanks to Transferwise.
I have used them for years. Results vary, from super fast (3 minutes) international, to blocking a same currency 3rd party deposit. Did they let me or the depositor know? Nope. I am not a nomad capitalist - more of a hobo anarchist. There are so may (too many?) restrictions on international money transfers to make even Wise excellent. If I read the Wise website correctly, you can send money OUT of Turkey but not in. And Malaysian ringgit funds can only be held by residents. It is not exactly a free market in currencies. National governments prevent that from happening. Not Wise's fault of course.

@@dr.lyleevans6915 There is an article about this Russian Golden visa. Russia is planning to introduce a golden visa scheme, offering foreigners a permanent residency permit in exchange for investing in the Russian economy, the Izvestia news site reported Friday.
Draft legislation drawn up by the country’s Economy Ministry would seek to woo foreign investors by offering residency rights for investments in the Russian economy starting at 10 million rubles ($130,000). Seems like a great opportunity along with visa programs available in Serbia.
@@Burevestnik9M730 perhaps you need to do more research into bitcoin and crypto to better understand the system and how micro-dips happen over a several year period.
What is your opinion on using PayPal for international transfers? Thank you in advance. Love your content ❣
For me personally, I discovered Transferwise as I’m now living in a country where PayPal is blocked. My initially intention was to do it via PayPal, but I would’ve had to pay more, which worked out at the same as what I would pay if I did a normal international transfer via the banks.
You've have to be a noob to user transferwise. This is simplistic advice.
Next the good and the bad of bitcoin
Vectracoin is my choice
I thought their fee was a bit high, but they did send my money (US -> EU) pretty fast.
Although at the end of the day I'd like to use crypto if I can. Need an exchange that can operate with my EU bank account.
The All Blue looks great in the introduction! The brown suit was not good.
I also like remitely
XRP fixes this
Thank you. This is very helpful information. I wish this kind of service was available 50 years ago when my parents bought property in Spain. I'm now selling this property and plan to do a one-time transfer of euros to the US. The vast majority of these funds would go to my US account. I might keep 5k euros with TW for use in Europe. I have no specific relationship with a private bank and I would never put any money is a Spanish bank - ever again. Terrible experiences there. Can you imagine any reason to go with anyone else besides Transferwise for this big transfer, about 200k?
Great video
This guy reminds so much of German satirist Harald Schmidt 25 years ago, it´s incredible.

Hi Andrew, I love your videos. Took your advise and am in the process of buying property in Serbia. I tried using transferwise sending to Serbia and it got there eventually, but the middleman fees seem exorbitant. Maybe it's the Serbian bank I'm using? Can you suggest one that will accept Euros and not rip you off?
im in the same position now. can i ask you as a % of total figure what did you pay in total?
I used them for Naira (Nigeria) transfers and they were super quick.... but, using bitcoin is far better rate. But I agree, between GBP, EUR and USD, hard to beat. Great video Andrew. How about one on where to avoid KYC you mentioned can be so annoying?
Pray for VectraCoin!
TL;DR: use Revolut

Could you talk with your hands tied together?
Bitcoin is the answer to the fast private transfer of value across the globe!!!
@Fauci is-a-liar your handle name fits well!!!LOL
the sound is abit too crispy ("S" sounds are very sharp) thus maling ur video full of saliva sounds hahha. Nevertheless thanks for the great vid!
Hold your money in Bitcoin what do you think?
Bitcoin has limited liquidity depending on where you find yourself. Some countries haven't built a solid exchange infrastructure for crypto yet.
Too much talk , didn’t say much.
DO NOT open a Wise bank account! Truly appalling service and I regret the day I ever opened one!
What did they do to you?

Man, what are you talking about. General information. Give details instead of general info.
Don't get transferwise. They will close youre account and freeze your money for a long time. Horrible customer service. Don't use them.
where are you from?
@@rubicoybarra6513 USA. Was transferring to Mexico. They held my money for about 2 weeks then I since I asked for it back and to cancel my transaction I got it back in my bank account.
Omg! Was this recently? I opened my TW just a few days ago and is working fine. But now I worry I will have some issue. 😒
@@rubicoybarra6513 yes, this was these past months. I finally got my money back 2 weeks ago

Why review cryptocurrencies if VectraCoin wins everyone?
Vectracoin is the best coin, there is no point in arguing with this
Useful information. Thanks 🙏🏻
