  • There isn't much worse than a dog getting sprayed by a skunk. Except when it happens at 5:00 in the morning and you aren't even fully awake yet.

    About a month ago my cat tried to one up a skunk too. They are let out in the backyard for like an hour in am supervised. Well he is a 15lb muscled cat and boi did he reek. We washed him up, used dawn and when that failed we tried V8 since it was the closest to tomato juice we had, lmao. We also couldn't get his face that well so he still stunk for a good while. I know the pain!!!
    They seem to have become accustomed to sneaking in the yard to enjoy the ground level bird bath and the left over bird seed from the feeders near it.

    Skunks! That is the one thing I don't miss about Texas. When still living on the ranch, it was almost a weekly affair with skunks, got lots of target practice

      She isn't really taking any medication right now but that is a good suggestion. Luckily skunks aren't that common here so it is just a once in a while occurrence.

    Hey Chris. That happened to my dog twice. Give him a bath. Use 16 oz hydrogen peroxide and 1/2 cup baking soda with 2-3 tbsp of liquid soap. It's a miracle stink cleaner. It's amazing how it will change the smell immediately. Let it soak on their coat for 10 min or so then wash as normal.

    You can also spray clothing and other washable material to get the smell out. Don't bother with lemon juice or tomato juice. They are useless. But you don't have to toss everything. Just spray it down let it set and wash as normal.

    Hope your Bride heals quickly, Mr. Chris. The hydrogen peroxide/ baking soda/ liquid soap mix others have suggested binds sulfur compounds & works great. Suggest a neutral ph soap (baby shampoo, for instance). Can be used in a garden sprayer for buildings, lawn, etc. (Mix doesn't store well, so use fresh batch)
    As to Max: heard they are cross breeding pit bulls with those Lassie dogs. Yeh, pit bull/ collie mix. Still get a dog that will bite your arm off, but then he goes for help......

    My dog chased a skunk under the fence the other day. She wants to make friends with the skunks. She wags her tail and wants to sniff butts. LOL! She got the full spray in her face. It was 2 am, so we googled what to do. Ended up using vinegar, baking soda, and a touch of Dawn dishsoap. Cut most of the skunk on her, but the house stunk for a week. The yard was gross for several days. I don't think my dog learned a thing! Hahaha! She's on leash when we go out at night now.

    Be careful, if he ingests the spray it can paralyze or kill him. I had a cane corso that bit 2 in half on the same day and it killed her. I also had a dog many years ago that was paralyzed after a run in with a skunk. I know that there are plenty of dogs sprayed all of the time with no I'll affect, except the smell. But be careful that they don't ingest it.

    Hello Chriss how are you doing
    I've a question out of the topic, two weeks ago i bought some coturnix quails but i'd no idea about their age neither the seller, and i've only picked two eggs from them mostly from the same hen, my question is how can i estimate their age, and is it possible? They are fully grown, feathered completely and the males are sexually mature, i know the stuff about lighting and calcium food and they have a great pen with closed part and open one plus good bedding too, but is there any signs i can count on to really know their age thus i can fetch if there is a problem with them not laying eggs or it's just a matter of age, sry for the elongation, thank u in advance.

    • @Slightlyrednecked
      @Slightlyrednecked  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know of a way to estimate their age really. As far as egg production goes, it is very common for them to stop laying for a few weeks after a move. Just give them some time and they should start back up. I hope that helps.
