It was his dad's hat with the frogman Logo (one of the symbols of the navy SEALS) then the kid grew up and became a SEAL as well. At the end the son is telling another child their father is never coming home, just like what happened to him
Linkin Park held my devotion when they were young and angry. This is a very important song inasmuch as it carry's a worthy tribute to the fallen from the armed forces. But musically, it's just linkin Park being grown ups. The only reason I actually like it is because of the dedication. By the way, I love that top you're wearing, it really compliments you.
