But I'm also part Japanese, and Serena's unfair accusations impugned the honor of Osaka's success. This young athlete deserved to enjoy her win, without Serena making it into a controversy. No one will always win; and athletes should be gracious even when they don't.

Regardless of her passion and her frustration, she wasn't treated unfairly. She had the rules applied to her. It had nothing to do with her gender, her color, her political views or anything else. The decisions were based purely on the rules and she has no reason to complain or be angry with anyone but herself. She was the one who agreed to the rules when she stepped onto that tennis court and she was the one who broke the rules, so she was the one who was penalized for her own actions according to those rules.

When people claim sexism just because it’s convenient for them they damage the work people do for real equality. Feminism is not a way of getting what you want it’s the aim that everyone should be equal. Equality means that you take the good and bad aspects of life you can’t just pick one. If the umpire was sexist she was playing a woman so it still would have been an equal match and she could have raised the sexist treatment, with evidence, at a more appropriate time with the appropriate tennis authority. Many people who are good at a sport seem to have a serious problem with their behaviour, it’s not being passionate, it’s just unacceptable behaviour and she may think she’s feminist but she’s publicly damaged feminism with her display.

Osaka is the consummate professional. Yes, men also overreact and they get penalized too! Serena has a history of histrionics, interpreting the rules in her own mind as she sees them and of repeatedly breaking racquets which is a clear violation. She cannot accept the rules which in many cases are to assure decorum on the court. She has also been so rude to the press in a way that is so completely narcissistic it's shocking. She is not a role model. The fans showed their crassness when they ruined Osaka's win. And Osaka showed us that a new champion has been born. One that lives the rules because she understands self-discipline and decorum. Thank God.

Osaka beat her, no question but when the ref spotted Serena's coach giving her hand signals which resulted as a warning, it threw her off her game. So, instead of focusing in the game like Osaka was, she was offended and threw a tantrum, blaming the ref and did not let it go.

Both her and her sister deliberately cheated when they put those beads in their hair so the sound of the beads clanging together would be a distraction to their opponent. Next way she cheats is with all that excessive grunting. Excessive grunting is a way to hide/ mask the sound of the contact which takes away from your sense of hearing which is the first sense used for reaction. Lets say the person grunts loudly like they're exerting a lot of energy to hit the ball hard but meanwhile they actually did the opposite and hit the ball softly by verbally making the sound of the contact is a form of cheating. That's why you have to be quiet while playing tennis so the players can hear the sound of the contact of the ball. But she's always been a horrible champion so I'm not surprised by her low class behavior.

1- Serena says “He was giving me a thumbs up. Not coaching,” etc
2- her coach says “I was coaching her.” He then demonstrates how he held both thumbs up in a pulling back motion. “I was telling her to get closer to the net.”
Conclusion: Serena saw his signal. He is her coach. Clearly he would only make a Jesture he knew she would understand. She has been playing for years, how would she not know what that jesture meant? The referee also knows what that jesture meant which is why he faulted her!
