    Been doing vinyl decals for a few years now ,how I ve struggled doing 2 colour decals,never thought of using registration marks and I was a litho printer for 20 years,great stuff.

    Quick tip.....Once you have lined up all your layers you can trim around the decal and remove the registration marks. That way you don't have to worry about them sticking to the tumbler or whatever you are applying it too.

    With the colour cut option in the advanced options, you do not need to remove all the other colours but simply select the ones you want to cut without moving them around or change your design.

    • @NikkiInStitches
      @NikkiInStitches  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rodolfo, for a project like this when you create a decal with vinyl, the vinyl is up, the backing paper is down.
      You may be referring to HTV which is made for pressing onto fabric. In that case, dull side UP!!

  • @Livinglife826

      I'm not sure what the price difference is, but I always suggest people keep their eyes open for sales at your craft store, like Michael's, JoAnne's, and Hobby Lobby. Regardless of which machine you go with, if you time it right, you can get for a lot lower than MSRP!

    my question is, for cutting the image, do you have to flip the image horizontally like you would for a heat transfer? or do you just leave it as is, & do i still feed the cutter with the "matte side up" vinyl ?

    • @NikkiInStitches

      Emma, you DO NOT need to flip your image when you can vinyl! Put it into your machine vinyl side up with the backing paper down!

    Did my first decal on a mug, my great grandson put it in dishwater about two weeks later and it came off, I don't know how long it was in the dish water. Is it because it sat in the dish water a while? Need help on this.

    • @NikkiInStitches
      @NikkiInStitches  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Edna! It definitely could be from soaking in the water, or from the heat of the dishwasher. I always hand wash all of my pieces that have decals on them, and carefully dry them. I worry about pulling up the corner of the decals if I dry them too much with a towel!

    • @NikkiInStitches
      @NikkiInStitches  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rod, my monogram is black. You cut lines are exactly that...lines that your machine will cut on. For vinyl projects, it doesn't really matter what color they are! I make them black in my software to match my fill color because I think it gives me a better idea of what the finished decal will look like!

      I’m assuming you ARE NOT actually using registration marks, correct? That your machine is searching for them when you don’t want it to? Are your registration marks visible in your software? If yes, you can turn them off there, and then your machine “should” stop looking for them!

    I'm new to all this just got my cameo machine and tried to do some cuts it's cutting thru my vinyl I seem to not be doing something right or maybe it's the vinyl I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

    • @NikkiInStitches
      @NikkiInStitches  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Robert! You may need to adjust your blade settings. Every machine is different, so it is certainly ok to start with the suggestions from Silhouette, and then tweak them some from there. And yes! Different brands of vinyl cut differently, so again, experiment a little bit! And a huge tip: I find my blade needs to be adjusted if I'm cutting with a mat or without. So if you're going back and forth between using a mat or not, that could also be throwing you off!

    Well, would love to say I liked this video but since you didn't show the cutting step and that is part of the title of your video, hard to say I liked it.

    • @NikkiInStitches

      Yup. It is a free download from Silhouette. You can pay for a few upgrades if you want, but they aren't necessary to make any of the projects I post!

    Can I use cricut vinyl on my portrait 2

    • @NikkiInStitches
      @NikkiInStitches  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup! The cut settings may not be the same. I’ve never used Cricut vinyl so I can’t make a suggestion as what settings to use, but you can certainly do it!

    You didn’t show the process of cutting your vinyl letters on the machine. You just showed applying the letters not cutting.

      It is just a cutting mat that you typically cut paper on with an acrylic ruler and a rotary cutter!
