Thank you for making these videos available to those of us who need it most and are trying to heal on their own... I started watching them a few months ago and now my mom and I watch them together, because we both have heavily traumatized pasts. We are understanding a lot of subtle dynamics we may otherwise dismiss. The first thing I did when I saw a new upload was send a link to my mom. :)
And I noticed you said you were in TN... I grew up there and some of my major trauma occurred there (Clarksville). I have a big blank, empty place that I can't bring myself to ask my mom about just yet. I don't know how to find out on my own. My mom is not yet a safe person to ask about it...

Excellent! So much valuable info here for one who cares about a Friend who may have been dealt a very unfair & undeserved share of ACEs. In all my communications/interactions with Her, I try to see/hear and say everything with that presumption in mind. Her well-being is really, really important. Thus, your presentations are really, really important.

C-PTSD should be in the DSM. W.H.O. has included it.
The politics are staggering in order to keep poor parenting from being exposed, as it's culturally "normal". Healing from early maltreatment is quite difficult, and the doctors of the body, and of the "soul", are not on the same page.
Body and mind are one, and if this was given its due, the diagnoses would mostly fit under the C-PTSD umbrella, as Pete Walker spells out so clearly. It is presently, for most, unaffordable to heal.
    Epidemic, this is.

How do people remember abuse that happened at a young age like under 10? Can people actually remember events at that age? I have virtually no memories of my childhood. And I'm not talking under 10, I'm talking in my teen years even though high school. I can't remember any birthdays, vacations or holidays. I do have very small snippets of memories that will pop into my head randomly. And all of those are of bad things, never any happy or positive memories

Each individual is different, the brains ability to remember is altered under stress and trauma in order to protect the person.

Most people cannot remember, via explicit memory, before the age of 4. Before around age 4, these will be implicit memories, i.e. stored in the body. After that, one's "presence" is often already dissociated, thus you cannot remember what you weren't really present for. This is common, and the unearthing of these memories is a process which is largely dictated by the ability to deal, with the unconscious defenses keeping the material outside of consciousness, although symptomology comes through as a signal. This is part of what Psychedelic Assisted Therapy can be good for- the allowance of material into consciousness for integration (also a process). One must be careful with such options, however, as the unconscious material may be quite disorienting, leading to a psychotic break.

@@DocSnipes Hey Doc! I've watched quite a few of your presentations, as I'm studying the affect of transgenerational family trauma (bad nurture) on the maldevelopment of the HPA axis, commensurate with increasing societal anxiety, depression and nihilism (lack of explicit meaning).
From a biological perspective, I perceive these symptoms as evolutionary self-destruct mechanisms which, in essence, equates all chronic pathologies in humans to an ontological issue.
      Your thoughts?
