My Dog Scout and I head to the woods to camp overnight, using only items from the Dollar Store
The $10 Dollar Store Survival Challenge, or like $11.50...
I make a neck sheath from cottonwood bark, build a supershelter with grass, and items from the kit. and lots more.

I just love how you talk to your dog like he's human and he actually understand your every word that is so bad ass!
Another option to feed and water your dog is this. Dig two small holes in the ground, line them with part of one the garbage bags. Put rocks, sticks, or whatever around them to keep the plastic in place. Put water in one side and food in the other. I came up with this while camping with my friend and his dog. It works very well.

I always try so hard not to pay attention to it, but my immersion always gets broken on things like this when I see the person walk away from the camera.
I know it's really an aesthetic way of editing, but I'm always in my head like 'UGH NO NOW HE HAS TO WALK BACK AND GET THE CAMERA TOO!" hahah.

This does happen sometimes but also do notice he has a camera with a tripod on it so if he intends to leave and return without bringing that camera that point of view isnt necessarily fake

here's a quick tip for ya. to open a can without a pop-lid. using no knife or tool. find a flat rock and use that like "sandpaper" and grind the edge of the lid, wont take more than a minute and you can push down on one side of the lid, and pop it open. learned that trick from an old homeless guy :)

It's a no frills, take it or leave it lesson in managing to at least not freeze to death in the wild and that's something we all should know.
I like this guy and his great friend Scout and I am truly looking forward to part two, if it's half as good as part one then I will enjoy the buzz of living rough. I did it for years when I was a youngster so this kinda stuff really appeals to me, the exception being that I found myself MANY MANY TIMES in the position of sleeping in abandoned cars and empty houses, old barns, park benches, I hated every second of it, but such is the choices we make when we are younger. The cops always caught up with me in the end so a prison cell was better than an old car with no wheels on it.
But yeah Joe, you just send part two asap and I'll be glued to it from start to finish.

For anyone interested the rules for this survival challenge are pretty simple! 10 US dollars this does not include taxes so you can go over the 10 but only for the taxes! You will need to be able to submerge your kit in water for 30 seconds without the contents getting wet. You must have something to make a shelter, fire, and some food!
I do believe that’s it as I just watched the original video on this challenge! Of all the challenges on social media this is the only one that isn’t stupid!
I never did the $10 challenge, but when I used to do the tent camping thing, I always kept a 1 gallon zip lock bag stuffed completely full of dryer lint for starting fires, contractor bags, a sharp hatchet/machete, a few MREs, & fishing line with a few hooks. I can't even begin to explain how useful that fishing line was. Used to really enjoy doing that, but my back & joints don't appreciate it anymore. LOL. Father Time is undefeated. Great vid..

I grew up camping too, but once our site was set up the adults went their way and kids the other. I'm the only one that has interest in the any of the basics of life. What our foremothers and forefathers did to survive. To this day I live as simple as possible and taught my children as best I could the same to appreciate what was provided for them.

What a great idea, Jamie. Not heavy, but made of heavier cardboard and would be fairly sturdy unless it would get wet and it could tear. Pros and cons. :)
I put my kitchen knives into thin cardboard sheaths like that after I sharpen them. They are practically free, and act as a warning signal for the roommates that the knives are really sharp.
I use cardboard sheaths so i dont ruin my lunchbox liner.

Omg! I’m 50 years old and have gone camping by myself many times! My experiences were not this smooth,but, now I find there are more cougars and black bears coming up or down where I live. I’m in Saskatchewan and if you know Saskatoon well I’m 30 miles south from there. Very,very beautiful country. I don’t camp far from home,well,far enough! Anyhow,your videos helped me tremendously! I’m glad I came across them! Happy Camping ⛺️! I just wanted to ask you a question, when coming across a bear...does the dog not get excited if it ain’t going to bother me? I’ve heard it somewhere. Well, I was setting up camp and this older black bear come up on me and my dog( Brutus) my dog just sat ,didn’t growl or bark. The bear moved on! I was soooooo releaved!!!lol!❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍🇨🇦
