Stephen Colbert took over as host of The Late Show on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015. Colbert is best known for his work as a television host, writer, actor, and producer, and best known for his charity work teaching English as a second language on Tunisian date farms. Prior to joining the CBS family -- and being officially adopted by network president Les Moonves -- Colbert helmed “The Colbert Report,” which aired nearly 1,500 episodes and required Stephen to wear nearly 1,500 different neckties. The program received two Peabody Awards, two Grammy Awards, and several unwelcome shoulder massages. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move. Colbert is pronounced koʊlˈbɛər, according to Wikipedia. Enterprise ended too soon!!!! The last real Trek we have ever got and it was the cry baby fans that got it cancelled having meltdowns about the Borg being used and they didn't like the theme song boo hoo boo hoo . Those man babies got what they deserved with having Michael Burnham forced upon them hahahaha

The man playing Donald's father(Mr. Trump) is none other than Vaughn Armstrong whom played the part of Scott Bakula's C/O on Star Trek ENT Commodore(and Admiral) Max Forrest.
What a legend of a actor Dean Stockwell, and will be truly miss but he will live on helping Dr Sam Beckett find his way home. Be it on earth or above.
I actually miss Dean more here considering Colbert's bad acting. 😆

"Quantum Leap" was one of my FAVORITE shows growing up! Scott Bakula and I are from the same town in St. Louis (Kirkwood) which made watching him on that show even more special to me. This sketch was awesome! Only thing that could have possibly made it any better would have been Sam saying, "Oh boy!"

Oh my god, I'M FREAKING CRYING. Quantum Leap was my first major fandom and still holds a very special place in my heart. It was so great to see Scott as Sam again, even if it was just a parody. WELL DONE, STEPHEN AND SCOTT!!!
Nah, he can go home whenever he wants to! (Like the God-Bartender explained to him.) It's just that Sam is such an enormously good guy that he would rather spend eternity making people's lives better than going home and having a life of his own.

I would absolutely LOVE to see a sequel serie with Scott Bakula.... like finding him again after 25 years he spent changing history, as he could never go back home...
Seriously this show still holds up today. I’ve been watching them all and cause of the time travel it’s timeless please please bring it back and with the ending they had they could easily do that.

I remember an interview with Scott Bakula, back when he was taking on Enterprise. IIRC he had said at the same time there was an offer to do more Quantum Leap, but he said he couldn't resist being a Star Trek Captain.
At least that's what I remember... Because I could swear I was "mad" at him for not making more Quantum Leap, lol.

NBC pulled the plug on short notice and the final episode was originally a simple season final, complete with a cliffhanger for season 6. When NBC did pull the plug, the entire episode had already been shot and had to be totally re-cut to make for a series ending.

The obvious ending would be to say that Dr. Beckett went home for his sabbatical, as promised, before beginning his new series of leaps.

I love him breaking character and laughing a few times great lil skit there.I got to meet Scott Bakula on the streets of BYC and I think he was with his wife usually I see a lot of actors and a lot in the city but never go up to them but Saying hello and all that was great he was so nice and took a few mins out to BS nice guy and he just is great in everything he does.

I just started watching it since they show it on the comet channel. I'm 37 years old and barely found out about the show.
I didn’t watch the show when it originally aired. Now I’m catching up and loving it! I’ve seen around fifty episodes so far. Of all the ones I’ve seen so far. Private Dancer is my favorite. What a touching episode!

It's a shame really. I mean Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: DS9 and Star Trek: TNG all had 7 seasons each.
Dean Stockwell is HALF of what made this show memorable and amazing and he's not even MENTIONED? Epic... what... the fuck...? :( :( :( :(
I like Dean Stockwell, too. However, if you want a unique viewing experience, look for a movie titled "She Came to the Valley" or "Texas in Flames." It defies description beyond "worst movie I've ever seen."
qhsperson I HAVE seen it. And, like everything he's ever done in his seven-decade-long career, Dean gave his all. By the way, this wasn't a slam at you or, for that matter, the video you uploaded. In fact, I "Liked" it. I just thought that was rotten and, unfortunately, it's not the first time I've seen this disturbing trend where Dean is concerned.

Also, if you've noticed it says 'new episodes' on Netflix for Quantum Leap, actually they just finally got around to adding the pilot episode and the 2 parter where Sam leaps into Lee Harvey Oswald (end of se.4-start of se.5), just a FYI for the fans :D I wish it would come back, the series finale sucked (last line on the screen was "Sam never returned home") they hastily put it together cuz it got canceled last minute, oh well. Thanks for this Colbert!
Great skit, but yet again Scott Bakula's wonderful performance was ruined by a bad ending. But that's the fault of the writers.
Well they thought they did have a season 6 waiting so they wrote it as a season finale mostly

As much as I love the original show, they're just too old to continue it. I could handle a remake, so long as they didn't use it to push political correctness like most shows now. There's episodes from the original run, which would never get made now because they either (1) weren't very brazen, or (2) actually supported classic values like patriotism and honoring God. Some episodes were crass, sure...but there was a balance between both sides thanks to Don Bellasario. Too many folks now are scared as hell, not wanting to "offend" anybody even by accident. The original show mostly avoided that crap.
I remember the episode where he leaped into a gay soldier and it was all about Gay's should be allowed in the military.

Definitely one of the show's most controversial episodes, but I think Al had a point. Most men on a battlefield want to know their fellow soldiers are bent on protecting them, not propositioning them.

I love Quantum Leap. I’m rewatching the show as I write this (2022). Scott Bakula had so much charisma and charm on that show. Him and Dean stockwell had great chemistry. I recently watched the 2022 Quantum Leap and it was missing the charm and charisma that the original had.
I saw "Quantum Leap" in the title, got excited, and clicked on the link so damn fast.

Boy, do I REALLY miss "Quantum Leap" so much. I blame NBC for cancelling that show when it had a lot of great potential. Instead, the goddamn network allowed godawful shows like "Seinfeld," "Frasier," "Cheers," and "ER" to have longevity. I think "Quantum Leap" deserves a serious comeback.

The wrong part of that episode was that Fred was actually caring for one of his kids like a father. Fred was just as, if not worse of a parent than Donny.
I have the boxset. I just wish the DVD of the last episode was the same as the broadcast version. :(

I was wondering if he saw the episode the night before how he got his hands on the ziggy communicator computer handset. I guessed he had the prop department build it from see through Legos and a blinker.
The handlink looks a tad too big (and a bit too regular, I think the original had stuff sticking, making for irregular rather than straight sides). Plus, the leaping glow is a tad too cyan/greenish, the original was much bluer.

The original Quantum Leap was so nostalgic, stoic & wholesome! I can remember sitting on the floor Indian style, watching Quantum Leap on a 1980's era tube t.v. during the late 80's/early 90's...Don't we all project potential probabilities in our minds today? I wish there was an avenue to distill the visual effect/CGI of the accelerator portal into a programmed editing effect we could use today. Quantum Leap had such good visual effects, at that time.

Thing is, Al never even needed the handlink for Sam to travel through time. The handlink was only to communicate with Ziggy and give her basic commands.

I wasn't a regular viewer of The Late Show back when this first ran, due to issues with sleep, and Quantum Leap was one of my favs...but I never saw this particular episode.
