This was super helpful! I am moving to London in July and this is one of the most comprehensive and helpful videos on all the different areas you could live. Thank you for taking the time to create this video and sharing all the information. You are doing a great job!
i wanna move there and it's hard because i'm from north east england where wages are fairly low. in london, most houses i see are at least a million pounds so it's a bit deflating when thinking i want to move there
This has to be the BEST video I have found on the London Boroughs. I am moving to London from America in September and this is literally everything I wanted to know about the city. Thank you so much!!!! xoxo
Nailed it! As an expat who has been here for 5 years I can say this is fairly accurate. Great summary! Wish I had this guide when I first moved here. I also agree that visiting in person is key.
As an expat from Toronto who has been in London for 3 years I’d say this is a pretty spot on summary! I wish I could have seen this video before moving here!
Not sure I 100% agree. Whitechapel is great transport wise but very dirty. Victoria Park is huge and visitedby locals alot. Great if you like the Indian restaurants on Brick Lane. I personally dont feel very safe on the little streets at night
🏘 this was so informative. I am looking into a masters program at London College of Fashion in Stratford. I was just starting to research areas and thought Stratford was too far out but also don't want a long commute. However, if I am traveling at school hours I might not want to deal with how busy it is so this was great! Thank you!
Been trying to find a place to move to in London for a while now and have been struggling so much to find an affordable flat in a nice location, so this was sooooo soo helpful. Exactly the video that I have been looking for for the past month. Thankyou Monica!
As an older Londoner, it’s interesting to hear how a switched on foreigner views my city because she’s more on the pulse than me. Very informative and for the most part she nails the positives of the areas she knows well, but we have different opinions of what’s dodgy vs safe.
Thanks so much for this Monica! There's only so much you can learn just by Googling, so it's really helpful to hear someone who is currently living there break down the different areas ☺🏡
thanks a lot for this video. I am relocating to London this week and I have no idea what to expect and where to live. But this video gave me a very good starting point. I cannot tell you how much you have helped me through this video. Lots of good energy to you :)
🏘 Thanks Monica! Was a really helpful video considering I have confirmed with work to relocate at end of 2024. So getting a good broad sense of zones 1/2 was helpful ahead of move.
this was really informative and gave a lot of insight to me (someone who's never been to London and looking to move there) very very helpful thank you🏠
Nowhere within the M25 is good value for money. Best of a bad lot is Southwest Essex.. At least there is a tube service to Hornchurch and Upminster masking commuting feasible.
My favourite area is Angel for sure. Idk, it just feels comfortable, still trendy but not busy and like cool people live there. Still a bit too expensive for me though!
🏡 Hey Monica, thanks for such an informative video. I’m also moving to London from Toronto this upcoming Aug for work and your vids have been extremely helpful. Appreciate it!
Excellent video! If I had to live by Canary Wharf, I woudldchose a flat in St Katherine's Docks as I love seeign the boarts and it makes me feel on holiday. Otherwise, Marybelone, Battersea, south and west/Wimbledon woudl be my go to.
If your considering living in Notthing Hill, there is a gigantic weekend festival held in the streets in August called carnival. It can get very hectic
Hi Monica, I am 17now and I an student in India I will definitely flourish and work hard to study overseas and it's my ~dream~ aim to live in Europe Mainly UK so I want to live in such a area where there's a lot of greenery and village type area, with a backyard for some home farm and calm area where there are shops and malls nearby and it's near to Manchester or London atleast 50km
Great video super helpful 😊thank youuu! Planing my move to London for 2024! How do you get that map? With the boroughs, wards and all that in the google maps? It's very useful to know well the Boroughs!
I just found it on google actually haha - www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=10af0mZD1dBEAY5G10mYrUJPjJ7rJmMQ&hl=en_US&ll=51.4891333658439%2C-0.08623200000000497&z=10
i personally live in the schoreditch area with my family, but i agree that this is a good area for young people. i'm just looking for a place now to mve out from my parents :D
Have you been to ottolenghi restaurant in Islington Monica? Loved it on a visit many years ago. Now on my visit I love Canary Wharf thanks for sharing 😊
Clapham: posh AND grungy?? Had to investigate… Looking at the map it’s a huge area served by 3 tube stations and Clapham Junction rail/overground, so that may explain it. Street View shows posh buildings around the Common, but where’s the grungy bit…perhaps north of Clapham Junction? South of the Junction on Northcote Road looks pretty cool with lots of boutique shops, bars, and large park which seems to have a Portobello vibe without the tourists, but transport connections limited to train/overground.
🏠. This is so helpful, thank you! I've been hoping for a video like this from you because I feel like we might be quite similar :D. Cant wait to move there next year! Love from Vancouver
Moved to east london (greenwich) a year ago and defs agree with the info here! Super helpful! I tried to find a place in hackney or Islington when I first got here but was quite difficult if you're new to the UK and got some budget constraints - real estate moved super fast there too. It worked out though because I found that looking for a place in outskirts of zone 2 / bordering zone 3 was easier if you're new to the UK, and i ended up loving the sunset river walks in my neighborhood. Now that I'm more settled in london, defs referring to this video as I look for a new area to move to 🤍🏠
Hackney, Tottenham Park, Elephant&Castle, Finsbury Park; Whitechapel, Peckham; more or less are shitholes….. despite new developments or coffee shops….. There are some nice pockets in some boroughs but the majority are shitholes. If I have to mention decent places; these would be: SW - Putney, some part of Fulham, Wimbledon N - Barnsbury ( Islington) Some part of EC, maybe around Farringdon. Some part of Chelsea, Kensington, around Hyde Park, Etc. But like you said, many areas; for example in Chelsea; there are some lovely streets but 2 min further is a shithole. Overall, the prices they asking in London are ridicolous for what you get…
I'm moving to london soon. All the one bed flats seem to be like 2.5k which seems high. So I have been wondering do you offer above or below the asking prices?
It really varies. Some agents over price the units, some under price. You really have to just get a feel for what the current market price is by looking around and decide for yourself what it's worth. I would say though with the current market most people bid a bit above asking.
Some of the areas your saying are good are absolute hell holes lol Hackney? You serious? Not exactly a safe place to live if your doing well for yourself 😂

You have no idea how helpful this is! I've been overwhelmed considering my move but this does make me feel like it is achievable after watching this
Thanks so much for this! Moving to London soon and trying to work out what areas to live in is very overwhelming, this was so helpful 🙂🏠

What would be a good website(s) to use to browse rentals? Also, hello fellow Canadian!
Rightmove, zoopla and open rent :)
City is not a borough, it's in fact a city :) Also no i in Westminster ;)

Tell about Reigate area london
Why? It’s barely London
Where is cottage's with drive far from central city,💌🌇🏡
All areas have the potential to be sketchy
🏠
🏘 tks!
🏡 Canary Wharf feels like Dubai.

I may be wrong but most of the areas had to do with it's connection to central London. Why?
