The second D9 must be a fair old age. Surprised to see the operator smoking considering he's on top of a pile of coal - over here all that kit would be equipped to the teeth with fire suppression systems!
@markieman3000 There's a big advantage to that. That's called an elevated or raised sproket drive system. By keeping the sproket elevated like that it keeps the drive system out of the mud and elements. It also reduces the amount of shock and vibration on the bearings and seals that a low sproket drive dozer recieves (ex: 9H)

@PAmining Another reason why they move the coal around is because of coals ability to spontaneously combust.
By moving it around,the coal won't get hot enough to ignite.
@jix177 He troughs the butts in a can to begin with, and I highly doubt a little cigarette is not going to ignite a pile of soaking wet coal lol.

9h is slower then 9N
