Imagine such a powerful player like Keres who has a positive score against Mikhail Tal 8-5 got defeated like this in a Spanish game. What an incredible player Geller was. Just amazing.
Yes, I was thinking the same, however Keres maintained a positive score against Geller, +8 -7 =23, and this game was the last game they had. Two years later Keres was dead from a heart attack, only 59 years old. Silent, untreated hypertension was often the precursor of such fatal heart disease back then.
Wow! A spanish duel between Soviet heavyweights. The knight sacrifice on f7 can be decisive. In Robert Byrne versus Bobby Fischer (US Championship 1963-64), the knight sac was made by the latter on the f2-square in a Fianchetto Grunfeld with devastating consequences.
One of the best games mato has published lately
Mato is on a Geller kick and he is taking us all with him. What a ride.
Geller rocks ✊

Geller has a plus score over Fischer no less.
First time I see Keres so brutally attacked
Great game with very exciting attacking. Thank you Mato!
The smile... Perfect 😀

My kingdom for those two horses !
Keres was born 1916; Geller 1925. They were a bit older here, but Geller rocks per usual 💯💯👌
It's a little sad to watch keres lose but still Geller played amazingly amazing. I need to search for more Geller games)
Also look for the one where Bronstein beats Geller in about 18 moves with a devastating queen sacrifice.
@@davidcopson5800 thank you for the suggestion. I watched almost every game of Geller after this video.
And the great Geller was playing against Paul Keller, another Chess genious...! wow!
Gotta say mato been pumping those guns
Hard to imagine Keres didn't get a chance to play his usual style
Nice game!
I think at 01:22 d6 trapping knight is the best move
After white d×c5, d6 push leaves Black N helpless, no where to go.
But hats off to Geller.
Thank you sir, for the brilliant games of Geller
THE MATADOR TORMENTED THE RAGING BULL BEFORE PUTTING IT OUT OF ITS MISERY!!!V.W.
Space, the final frontier
Wow game 👍❤️
. I doubt even my famous B52 attack would succeed against Geller ( an attack which FIDE are about to endorse any day now ).
B52 Attack's easily refuted by the Rock Lobster countergambit
@@jeffjones6951 Rock Lobster, you say ? Must test that out. Hmm ...
Wait a minute...doesn't took the rook? :/ oh my. Thnks mato
👍
I never play spanish. To much theory. But nice vid.
Overpowering attack!
Cruel, all major pieces there still losing in every variations
Geller was amazing, but he also lost sometimes. His winning rate was 60.7%
Black played this like a 900 elo
