Haha! I love the occasionally casual jokes that Mato sometimes used to make during his intense and serious elaboration of the game. It softens the tension of watching the intense battle of wits between these two powerful chess megaminds. Thanks Mato for making my day!
Amasing game by Geller. He crushed Nezhmetdinov by playing in his style. There is also a spectacular game where Rashid wins against Geller, i think Mato covered that one too a few years ago.
Two great attackers! A pity Rashid didn't reach the title of GM he surely deserved it but had too few opportunities. Geller was an extraordinary player and theorist.
Efim Geller Vs Anatoly Karpov 1976 : 1-0 Queen Sacrifice on Move 25 . And The Attack Of Two Knights Is Superior Than Opponent Queen . Just Want To Watch That Game on Your Channel
In order for us to get a more realistic understanding of Elfin Geller, Mato could also show games against those GMs Geller couldn’t handle so well: Polugaevsky, Korchnoi, Spassky, Larsen, Anand and Kasparov…
Dear Mato...how you always manage to change my favorite player...Please try to understand Nezhmetdinov was at the top of my list but after watching many Geller's games Nezhmetdinov is loosing that position, and Geller is becoming my favorite after Nezhmetdinov and Tal... JUST KIDDING...😜...Many Many thanks to you for bringing such a beautiful game...i feel improvement in my chess after watching your videos...thank you Mato...
A game of immense historical interest. Young Geller is pitted against the legendary Nezmetdinov who has butchered many Soviet doyens (e.g. Mihail Tal). Efim's aggressive play for initiative buckled even the great Rashid. Fantastic stuff ...
Incomprehensible for sure, so much more that he qualified for the candidates 6 times and held a positive score against four World Champions over the course of his career: Mikhail Botvinnik, Vasily Smyslov, Tigran Vartanovich Petrosian and Robert James Fischer! I guess he must not have won the candidate, but I haven’t checked…
@@MatoJelic Oh, really? I though it might have, because you get the sense there’s something not said in the records - or in the ones I could find at least. Tell me more? I know the USSR let him compete at all the national championships, and that he won twice, but one article totally omitted to mention he was from Ukraine…
@@MatoJelic Did they interfere in his travels? I know he was in Copenhagen the year the candidates were held there, because he lost out to Larsen that year…
No wonder if geller never been a world champion. If you want to be a world Champion you need to play like carlsen or Kasparov. But this guy was an entertainer. He might be losing alot by playing crazy but I'm sure its also entertaining.
It's more strange if we know he had a positive score against 5 world champions - Botvinik, Petrosyan, Smyslov, Fisher and Carpov! In my opinion he was one of best theoretical in chess, but in long tournaments he lost focus in some maches, too much thinking over playing on sense! He winning easily against also strategic players, but losing or draw against tactical! He lost chance to play for title in the match against Fisher with one big mistake in winning situation! Still one of best attacker ever in chess history and one of my favorite players!

Nezhmetdinov didnt get time to play chess if he had got time to play chess and improve himself i think we would have many more matches of him beating the likes of geller
It's hard to believe Nezhmetdinov could be pounded like that! Awesome game by Geller!
This is horrible he is my hero in chess i don't believe this is rashid the play is not gud maybe he have something this time
Nezh was just having an off day like we all do at times😊

With tal, keres, rashid and geller it was the golden moment of chess
A real entertainment the way you explain precisely and interestingly
I loved especially the RF9! 🙂 Thank you for this interesting game!
Thank you so much !
Mato, thanks for new upload again ,your the Man of chess ♟️
Your smile is one of my favorite things on the internet.

A wonderful masterpiece of chess! Quite tricky end but marvellously played.
Carnage on the chessboard - no quarters given! Two great chessmasters unleashed!
Thank you. 🙏💯
Do you have a series on Geller too?
Bronstein series and Charousek series are also good
Insane game👏👏👏👏👏
Rook going past the last rank was like Bo Jackson running through the end zone and into the tunnel. 😂
Thanks, Mato!

Very 👍🏻
Geller plays in a very fluid style. But this move order of rooks and queen is not seen often
Probably missing something - but at 2:48 instead of Q - f4 doesn’t R or B x b on e6 finish things off?

Nc5 is OP🔥
Wonder why Geller wasn't a world champion 🏆. Tremendous play

Mato tell the world what happened wen geller met Alekhine.
Wow didn’t expect that outcome was this when nez was old ?
He was like 37 and Geller 24.

clash of the Soviet titans ⚔
Ah, I see the rule now, any player with more than six letters in his name wins. Classic. I’m changing mine to Geller - pronto.

State of mind of two players on that particular day could have played the real game too. Not undermining Geller.

Traditional castling costed Nezhmetdinov the match
*Geller failed to show consistency*
why would nezhmetinov not castle at the beginning, almost like he threw the game....
