I am currently taking the Sorting Truth From Fiction: Civic Online Reasoning class through SHEG & MIT, which was priced at $49, but they provided a coupon code, so now it's FREE and self-paced. I HIGHLY recommend it! I also thank you, Megan, for introducing me to SHEG in the first place years ago! So important to teach our kids media literacy!

You linked some great resources! I tried out Interland and look forward to using that with my kiddos! I also love Nearpod and plan to use those lessons too!

How to vet news articles, from my What Is Truth?/Fake News class:
    1. Does the body match the headline?
    2. Does the reporter give direct or indirect evidence?
    3. Does the reporter show what they know or don't know?
    4. Does the article answer the main questions of Who/what/when/why/where/how?
    5. Does the article give enough context?
    6. Does the article show boths sides of the story?
    7. Use the IMVAIN method to evaluate the sources. Independent: does the source have anything to gain by telling the story? Verifiable: Can you confirm what they're saying? Authoritative/Informed: is the person telling the story an expert or witness? Named: does the reporter name the source, who is talking?
If you need more to elaborate on any of them, questions are welcome.

I love this so much!! I’m really excited for your middle school interactive notebooks. I’m going into my 7th year of 7th grade ELA, and I’m always looking for ways to spice up our research unit. My district does a digital citizenship lesson with all 8th graders, but I feel like this is SO IMPORTANT FOR EVERYONE!!

MEEGGGAAANNNNN!!!! What the HECK??? You LITERALLY pulled off your new library studio SOO WELL!!! With the rainbow stack of book on the top left to the cute decor and poster on the right? This is the best background I’ve ever seen you filmed in front of for a TooCoolForMiddleSchool video, BESIDE your room at school!! Oh, and the plants! I’m so excited to see you add 7th Grade Language Arts to your day next year!

Hi! I love your channel! I'm going to be a first year history teacher in the fall, and I was wondering where you got your Declaration of Human Rights poster? I love it!

The best and worst thing about being a teacher is summer “vacation.” I’m constantly looking into and checking out things for my classroom, but I should be resting. I teach 8th grade ELA, and this is definitely always in my lesson plan book. Great resources! I can’t wait to try several of them!

Thank you for this very insightful video! I love the resources you shared and will be using them for further research during my current program MSc educational sciences and technology. I currently research how we can incorporate media literacy into the classroom and I think your video was full with interesting tips! Keep up the good work.

Hi Megan! I started watching your videos about five years ago when I realized I wanted to change careers to become a teacher. I have been teaching in a rural public high school for three years now and I am happy to report that I love it! I still watch your videos and follow you on Instagram and I just wanted to say thank you for inpsiring me and taking the time to answer my question about how to become a teacher all those years ago. I am so proud of you!
This video is amazing and possibly the most important theme we could be discussing in high schools right now.
Also, what is finsta? Around 22 minutes
