I like the way it worked out. Forget about Girls Planet 999 Momoko won the grand prize, and almost everyone thinks she’s a great addition to an absolutely awesome band.
Momo has revived my interest in Babymetal, but let's just take a moment to appreciate that Su not only handed over the microphone, but was able to perform all of Momo's dance moves.
I was at Legend MM, so I got to see Momobanger live and it was absolutely wild. We'd been waiting a long time for this but it still managed to blow away our expectations. The whole show was epic, but this was the absolute highlight. I never expected the contrast of the growls and the super cute clean vocals, but Momo knocked it out of the park. We don't really know the timeline of when the decision to have Momo join Babymetal, but Su and Moa mentioned in interviews that they made the decision that Babymetal had to have a new third member if it was going to continue, which implies that this was decided some time during the hiatus period when it wasn't completely set in stone that they were coming back. My best guess is that since GP999 was in 2021, things with Babymetal were up in the air at that point, so Momoko went off to see what other opportunities were out there if Babymetal didn't continue. After GP999, the offer to become Momometal was probably made and they began preparing for the return. We know (now) that Momo was always going to become the new third member, because her face featured in the very first teaser video for the return. Su and Moa have mentioned in interviews how grateful they are that Momo agreed to join them as part of their strange metal odyssey. I not sure what they would have done if Momo had declined; it would have been weird to have someone not affiliated with Sakura Gakuin dropped in the position. Really only Momo made sense as she had done a lengthy apprenticeship and the fans were familiar with her.
Babymetal was a subgroup of Sakura Gakuin. A group of Idols with 12 girls of different ages (10-15), but it was also a school. Every time one graduated from common school, she automatically graduated from Sakura Gakuin and therefore left the group. Sumental, YuiMetal e Moametal were part of Sakura Gakuin from 2010. Sumental left the group in 2012 and Moametal and Yuimetal left the group in 2014. Momometal was also part of Sakura Gakuin, however, as she was younger, she participated between 2015 and 2017. After graduating and leaving Sakura Gakui, MomoMetal went to be one of Babymetal's Avengers, as Yuimetal left the group. For a brief period, Babymetal stopped its activities and with that MomoMetal took part in a reality show to choose the members of the Korean group Girls Planet 999. She was unsuccessful and was eliminated. Then Babymetal reversed their attitudes and decided that they should have a third fixed and official member. So, since 2023 MomoMetal is officially Babymetal.
Correction it was not a school, it was themed around school activities, they all went to regular school at the same time, so not technically a real school.
The Fans win.. I think Koba wasn't sure of Momo at first but majority of the fans wanted a permanent new member and Momo is the perfect fit. Most made spiteful remark of her physical appearance at first but boy how glad I am when Momo did her growl and blew them away.
Bloody hell! What kind of idiots made those kind of remarks about her physical appearance? She's absolutely beautiful. She's the peach princess Momoko.
There are many theories on why she went to that shame o a show called Planet99. Whatever it is I am glad Momo never made it far and is with Babymetal. Momo fits perfect with Babymetal and has made the band stronger than it ever has been. Her personality and talent fits well with them. During concerts between songs, Su is so motherly to both Momo and Moa and the smiles and fun between them all can be felt. Momoko was the perfect addition and will help BM last for a long long time.
Momobanger(Headbanger) was unveiled on 3/2 and Momotaro(Metataro) on 3/3. Both songs started with MOMOMETAL descending from the ceiling on a UFO-like object after a picture-story show. It is unlikely that an official music video will be released, so you will only be able to see it on Blu-ray. 🤘🦊 From🇯🇵
My theory on why she was on girls planet is that we know that babymetal originally planned to disband several times in the past first when Yui left the group the girls said they they were given an option to disband but decided to keep going until their 10 year anniversary which was the promise they made to each other when Yui was still in the group. Which was stated in interviews after babymetal returns concerts last year While they were avengers Kano and riho were actively furthering their career. Kano debuted in @onefive in 2019 and riho signed with Japan music entertainment in 2020 while both were dancing for babymetal. Now for momo, while she was in SG she stated her dream was to travel the world as a backup dancer. Which is what she was doing. At the time she most likely stayed and performed after 2020 because she had her dream job and was most likely just looking for other dancing jobs. Now for 2021 we know that they had originally planned to disband after the shows and even during the shows they were unsure of babymetals future as they stated in interviews after the babymetal returns concerts. Giving that girls planet started filming in August of 2021 and Covid postponed several things I’m willing to bet the girls planet application process probably took place some where between the end of 2020 and the start of 2021 which is when Babymetal wasn’t sure if they would continue as a duo.

This is meant to be MomoBanger, but for a large proportion of the video it was using clips where she wasn't even on stage. Call me old fashioned, but that just seems wrong. Find the real thing when you can - ideally with the introduction lore and Momo coming down from the ceiling before they started the song. You are absolutely right about how Su just slots seamlessly into Momo's spot in the choreo just as she did for Yuibanger and Moabanger before. She really is so impressive. Momoko was on Girl's Planet while BABYMETAL were on hiatus, so no I don't think they were delaying any decision or the announcement of her as the new official member because of her involvement in that. She was back quite a while before the BABYMETAL Returns concerts in January last year when they broke the seal and returned from their hiatus ... she was back with BABYMETAL and performing as the last remaining Avenger for those shows and it was at the end of those concerts that they hinted there would be a new third member. The BABYMETAL Begins concerts were on 1st and 2nd April and it was there that it was revealed the third member of the "new" BABYMETAL would be Momometal.

My idea is that after the 10 shows at Budokan in 2021, they had already chosen Momo to be the 3rd member. However, so that some people wouldn't get "upset", they preferred to go on hiatus, and Momo joined this program to hide the fact that she would be a new member of BM. So much so that she was one of the first eliminated, right? Which in my head makes a lot of sense. 🤗 That's always the story that comes to my mind.
