Agree. I play a Strat Copy. About 15 years ago traded. a circa 62 mustang Tele for a more modern stat.. I wish I didn't..it was all scratched bruised..and natural wood with stain.

Best, easiest to follow, instructional video I've found to date. Most videos are far too esoteric. We watch instructional videos to learn how to play, ot to watch someone grandstand. Five stars to you

I worked with James Burton right after "Travelin Man" became a monster smash. We were all very young at the time and Jerry Fuller who wrote "Travelin" was on the show. I begged him to let me sing ,"Travelin,". He let me do his hit (Ricky's). I then met James. (He looked exactly like the OZZIE & HARRIET SHOW, etc,) It sounded just like the record. (Same band as on TV). This was in Hollywood.

It has a bit of a Nocaster blond kind of color, which you find in the recent Nocasters from the Fender Custom Shop. I believed it was one until I saw the “Telecaster” on the heads logo. Great lesson in any case and great sounding guitar.

Interesting story of James Burton....he was paramount in Ernie Ball using different gauage strings because Burton used banjo strings on the first 4 high strings and moved his "D" to A and "A" to low E.....his gauges are 9 10 12 24 32 38 Now using 40 for Low E........Ernie Ball asked him to his store to talk about his sound and they came up with using different gauages.....

In the early 60s Dave Wendels of Cliff Bennett & the Rebel Rousers- often considered one of the UK's best ever bands went to the USA and met James Burton. When he returned an army of aspiring guitarists besieged him to ask how James did what he did. Now, folk can tune into talented guys like this man and see it allso clearly. In that respect it has all got a zillion times easier. I managed to meet James at a Billy Swann concert, a number of years ago. I got lucky- he sneaked up on me in the audience on his way to the stage after Billy had started the show.

Hi Adrian...Great lick ala Mr Burton style, I think you are one of the most tasteful & accurate players of this style on here with a gorgeous Tele tone, I have been a fan of JB for many years & was wondering if you possible you could break down that lick he uses in the key of E....at the end of Emmylou Harris tune called ...Ooh Las Vegas, and he also used it on Elvis... Mystery Train & What'd I say in the mid 70's shows he did with Elvis???....I know he calls it a crossfinger lick & I do have his instructional video but cant quite catch what he's doing on this lick also ( Maybe its me!!...Lol ) the tab doesn't seem to match the lick....Keep on PIckin Buddy....Regards Tony B, Swansea, UK....:)

Can you address a couple of points please? What gauge strings do you use to get that twang? And, do you set the strings super low, just above buzz/fret contact to make the bends easier and speedier? Also, do you have any exercises and/or practice grips you can recommend to master bends, pushing up, and using all 3 fingers? For me, and some others on YT, I see them/me bending down....it feels/seems easier, but it's incorrect? Also, some of us don't have good finger strength or agility because of arthritis, age factors. How do older folk mitigate the arthritis condition which inhibits one from pressing or using pressure on fingers, especially the fat of the thumb ligaments/tendons? Any feedback would be appreciated. Your playing is impeccable and the tone amazing, as others have noted. Also, a great looking Telecaster.
