lol at that Zillow comment. They had no business trying to get into flipping homes. I remember looking at the homes in my area they were buying and "flipping" and couldn't figure out how they thought they were going to make money off of it. Maybe they thought volume?

The crazy thing was the more volume they did the more they lost!

this is all true about building equity, I was rent burdened too with 100% of my income going to my rent and it was all going to profit for a landlord and a location that I just wasn't enjoying since you cant afford to go anywhere when 100% of your income goes to rent. I somehow bought a killer deal, 38 k for a 2 bed 1 bath with my own land.
