Near the ending of the song, after the knocking, clanging, and splashing, his breathing was unsteady. Thought I could understand why, it just adds more emotion.

cool kid yeah, when you know a song enough you don't really need to look at the keys, especially if it's a song you wrote because i'm pretty sure joe wrote most songs in BMC
Raven Toney when you start to cry for the 57th time in a row and then you hear laughter and you have to stop the video just to say "what the fuck" out loud and then proceed to continue crying cause now you not only hear the sad but also laughter and now ur double sad
I love George's singing, it has so much emotion. But I just love the piano. Joe Iconis really knows how to play and add to the feeling of the song. Both are wonderful performers, and I prefer this version to the official.
sensitivity too high, he was too upclose for the potency of his voice, probably needed a filter too. Sound engineer here, and thats what happens when levels arent properly taken. The song doesnt help either, it has very quiet lows and George has very strong highs too. (i envy the beastly voice he has tbh)

+Ava Berry I mean, it's not like micheal was like overly depressed as in killing himself, he was just in the bathroom mad at his friend for leaving him all alone and with that said, he's sad about it too. He's not depressed, just sad.
I've never full on cried when listening to George Salazar singing this song... Then I watched this. Needless to say there are tears and I need either a hug or tissues.
Wow George is amazing! His emotion is just unreal and so believable. ALSO IF THAT FREAKING LADY LAUGHS ONE MORE TIME I WILL PERSONALLY- oh probably shouldn’t say that... BUT STILL GEORGE UR AWESOME!
I think I could understand the lady laughing. She could have just tone it down a little cause its really disrespectful to the performer no matter who it is. Especially once she noticed no one is laughing along with her. The thing is, we all already know the context of the song and that it's not to be laughed on but that lady doesn't. I mean cmon the phrase "Michael in the Bathroom" is really hilarious. That's why you can hear that as the song goes on the laughter dies down because the lady is finally understanding what it's about.
I take it back. I watched another video of this and George explained what it's about at first. And idk why in this video u couldn't hear the laughing on the second chorus but sHES STILL LAUGHING U CAN HEAR HER IN THE OTHER VIDEO. EVEN IN THE END SHES STILL GIGGLING
Hanny SDS sometimes People laugh when nervous or when they don't know what to do. still, she was very disrespectful. through the song, you can realise, even without context, that this is not a comedic song, not a song for laughs, especially after the second "I'm just Michael in the Bathroom".
Hanny SDS ikr it’s rlly not cool that she’s doing that even though maybe, out of context, it would be funny. AND I SAW THAT VIDEO TOO AND ITS JUST NOT COOL
I see a lot of comments on the woman who is laughing and while I agree that it was super disrespectful she may not have got the context of it especially if she has listened to other songs by George because a lot of his songs follow a serious tone but are not serious like “where do the Lonely souls go” which seems serious by the tone and music and even some of the words leading up but is about McDonald’s at 3 am edit: I WATCHED THE FULL CLIP AND HE EXPLAINED WHAT THE SONG WAS ABOUT NVMD EVERYTHING I SAID
Evelyn Jackson if you think about it, I believe it adds to the moment. I mean, the phrase "Michael in the bathroom" can sound pretty ridiculous and pathetic in the beginning, and I think it's meant to be. Then as the song goes on the tone gradually switches. Nobody's laughing at the end.
I've just watched 3 live performances of this, and in each version people keep laughing. I don't get it.Like It's pretty obvious that this isn't supposed to be that funny.
I love how for every performance, George gets so into it that at some points, he really starts crying and breathing unsteadily. Since I've heard that George used to have relatively frequent panic attacks (and I believe he had one when they wrote the song?) and how much he can personally relate to the song, I respect him even more for how he can do this so often without actually breaking. George, even though you won't read this, you are an amazing human being. And me and all the thousands who look up to you as a role model wish you all the best in your life.

i really hope someone gave him a hug after this performance. i love how much emotion he puts into the song. even if it is just in the studio, he gives it his all and make your heart melt because of how much he is putting in to the performance. even the little foot stomp made the performance a lot more real.
Joe iconis looks like andrew garfield its so cute. I love george salazar so much. And when we get a legit spiderman musical, can george please play ned, I can see it already...
I know I already commented on this, but everyone's talking about how the woman is laughing, but let's look on the bright side: George legit is so perfessional and perfect that he doesn't stop adding the emotion and singing with the courage just because someone's laughing; like let's just come here to love George.
George: Pours his entire soul and emotions into his piece. Audience: Not a god damn dry eye in the house, when he hits the end. Joe: This song is a god damn bop, who wrote this masterpiece?
I took my daughter to see Be More Chill in New York last Saturday and George Salazar steals the show with this song. And even in a theater packed with super fans there were people laughing at parts of this song. It's king of a roller coaster of a song and there are parts that seem funny at first. On a side note, my daughter recognized Joe Iconis (even though he had a full beard) who happened to be sitting on the aisle in the row behind us. She worked up the nerve to ask him for an autograph during intermission and he could not have been nicer. He signed her Playbill, complimented her on her Corpse Bride t-shirt, shook her hand, and introduced her to Joe Tracz who was sitting next to him and who also signed her Playbill. She's still beaming.
All the heavy breathing on the mic really makes it sound like he's crying/about to cry, and it makes me want to cry Also "I WANNA DAAAANCE WITH SOMEBODY" Also how is his voice so perfect like wth

MY GOSH GEORGE SALAZAR! The sheer emotion he can portray in his voice. The way the audience just silenced, surely on the edge of their seats. I seriously am dying for the off-Broadway Be More Chill production!!!!
These are the type of people I'm amazed about. The people who can sing something really emotionally and deliver it's intention beautifully without losing any note...just wow
I just found be more chill and George plays such an interesting character and to hear him sing this song with such emotion astonishes me. This was the very first song I heard from be more chill and to see it play out on screen really makes it a great experience 😂
He nails it every time with a person who has very bad anxiety who has had many panic attacks I can hear it in his voice that pain and sorrow I hear it every time it’s just beautiful 😍
