Oh, that curb was yours for the moment
Alone, looking back at growing up
And the choices that led you here.
The attention brings quite the excitement
The commotion will come to peace
And all you find left is fear.
We have your back.
Your mistake was giving up on yourself.
And now here you will stay, for your crimes committed
You will receive everything.
The words on the screen reads indicted
The picture's; a broken scene.
How tough love feels, it's what you need.
All these removed and reminded
Of a time when this wasn't me,
And we were still the best of friends.
I hope you'll be okay.
But your big mistake was giving up on everyone,
And now here you will stay for your crimes committed.
You will receive everything.
A new world inside
Where cold walls feel comfortable
Where straight lines don't curve
And oh, in the time you're gone, your cells forgotten
Remember this: you are missed
We gave our strength
And now we have no choice
The bird has flown the coop
And broke his singing voice
We can't wait for you to change,
We tried...
So, until that day, goodbye...
The time on the bus will remind you
Of what you had and how you lost it all
But you can't say it wasn't your fault
Cause your big mistake was giving up on everyone
And now here you will stay for your crimes committed
You will receive everything
A new world in sight
Where cold walls feel comfortable
Where straight lines don't curve
And oh, in the time you're gone, your cells forgotten
Remember this: you are missed
You are missed.
(lyrics transcribed by Will Gardner of Jupiter's Incense)
*The last few verses feature Chondra Echert Sanchez on background vocals.
We gave our strength
And now we have no choice
The bird has flown the coop
And broke his singing voice
We can't wait for you to change,
We tried...
So, until that day, goodbye...
:'(
This band and it's fans are a family. I could not help but tear when I read the lyrics with this song.
I am slowly starting to believe this is the greatest song he has ever written. The emotion is intense, in both lyrics and in the music.
It's a beautiful feeling.
Real music has not died. You just have to dig a little deeper to find the real passion for it. It's right here in front of you.
Such a beautiful song about a sad chain of events. I sincerely hope Mic can get better and they can renew their friendship. Addiction sucks but at some point you have to be responsible for your actions. It's not easy being tough on a lifelong friend, but as it says in the lyrics, it's what Mic needs. If Claudio, Josh, and Travis didn't love him, they'd overlook his problem. I doubt we'll ever see the original lineup again, but that doesn't mean they don't want Mic to get better.
Chondra and Claudio's voices blend so well together, its so beautiful!!!!
I have to say. this song really struck a chord with me personally. It's beautiful and it has all my feels. All of them.
This is heart wrenching...... If you have ever had a friend addicted to a substance.....wow
Truly beautiful and so very sad. I hope Mic can turn things around
Such an intensely sad song, I love it, though. Get well, Mic.
For those of you familiar to Claudio's writing style, he never comes out with lyrics that blurt out what the song is about. However this song is pretty blantantly directed towards Mic.
I knew i was going to end up crying, from the very first note. Beautiful.
for the first time in a very long time I think a song has made me tear up...This is such a sad but beautiful song, especially since I remembered everything I read about Mic :(
I know this song is about Mic, or that that’s the general consensus, but ‘the time on the bus will remind you/ of what you had and how you’ve lost it all’ really hits me in the place I have still reserved for my ex and how our relationship formed and grew on a school bus for two years.
Such a good fucking song.
I realize who this song is modeled after, but I can't stop thinking of being a kid and pretending to know everything I know now. Who will die, who I will fall in love with and ultimately destroy me. And me basically singing this song to my younger self. Just walking down the streets of my childhood.. It's breaking me.
Some of the most beautiful music I will ever listen to.
Going to miss Mic in the band, I hope he gets the help he needs. This is an incredible song for him, while there's a lot of sadness here I think there is very obviously a lot of love for him. This is the first song to make me tear up in a long time, so beautiful.
half measures is also a term used when an recovering drug addict is given a smaller dose of a drug they are addicted to.
It's such a powerful song, especially to those who have loved ones who deal with addiction.
Mic, you WILL be missed.
All the feels, man. All the feels.
this song brings tears to my eyes everytime. feels like it was written about my life
Claudio has the most amazing voice...it doesn't matter what he sings, it's just gonna be great. Thanks, Claudio....
Fuck. That song is just Fucking brutal. Again left on the edge of outright bawling by the evil genius that is our Claud. This is by far my favorite on the EP.
Christ i never saw that until you pointed it out, that gives this song even more meaning.
I genuinely believe that Claudio Sanchez's dial is permanently stuck on awesome.
I like the title and i agree it can be about anything you want it to be, thats why coheed/prize fighter is so good. I think of Half Measures being like the time signature in music
These new tunes are beauts. Thanks for posting Neesh!
this song reminds me of a coheed friend, Joey Eppard's song "dead".... tell me I'm not crazy. I love them both though
I think it's about Mic, and it makes me want to cryyyy.
Indeed
It's true, they funded it themselves, their contract ended after YOTBR. They decided to fund it themselves because they felt there was a bit too much pressure from the record company to make changes to the songs. Sure enough they released what is (in my opinion) their best album since Fear Through the Eyes of Madness.
Especially the part where he says, "The time on the bus will remind you..."
Who fucking cares about the album art or ep art just listen to the song claudio is a master of his craft
Hell yeah I bought this record and so much merch at the house of blues the other night!!! I will support this band until the day I die!
It will be easier for you probably because no one had the box set yet so we had to print out the receipt (transmissions page) and bring it with. Yes there were a lot of people in Vip but it will depend on how many bought it in the area u are going to see them. it opened a little under an hour before the actual doors so i'd say get their early if u want time to check out the merch booth or whatever. I barely made it through the door when he started.
I was thinking the same thing. I was watching Joey's DVD and I was like "That sounds so familiar". They clearly have inspired each other for sure. I have so much respect for both Claudio and Joey, I myself have taken so much inspiration from both of them as a guitarist, in fact I took lessons from Joey about 3 years ago...changed the way I look at guitar and music in general.
It is being sold at Coheed shows and at a con in NYC, on Vinyl only i believe, limited run.
... i have chills. FUCKING AWESOME is an understatement.
I consider this song more about how they still love him, not a slap to his face. In any case, Mic has also said he is still always talking to Josh, and I am sure he has to the others as well, maybe not as much as they want, but they have
This is so gorgeous, and hearing Chondra come in on the backup vocals is just bone-chilling.
couldnt help but drop a tear
Mic Todd, we miss you! This is your going away song!
I love this song ❤
Sure seems that way. No matter what it's about, it's sooooooo good!
I was there too. It's a shame he was so sick throughout the show though.
Half measures can be bought on digital downloads from amazon on the 4th of december 2012
Thank you for the credit!
The theme of Boxers was based off of his brother, but the story of him rising then falling, was Mic.
The Afterman is on Everything Evil/Hundred Handed, which is their own label. Year of the Black Rainbow was their last album with Columbia.
thanks neesh
OH GAWD!! It's just so sad.
I saw him play this live at the Madison show Oct 20. vip style
I own this on vinyl and love it so much
Sometimes the truth is too painful.
I can think of many bands who are worth support. Don't you think supporting every band helps with everything? If a band deserves my money for giving me good music, then I'll give it to them.
Such a beautiful song
I'm pretty sure It's standard with a capo on the first fret.
It's tough man. I've been going through crazy spirals in relationships as well. It's never easy, but if they end once, they'll never really be the same no matter whether you still love one another or not. Just try to enjoy life for what it is, rather than focusing on the fact that you feel like you need someone to experience everything with.
Yes. No one is perfect.
That song is amazing.
This saddens me.
I don't think this song is for Mic Todd. The song mentions a bus, cold walls, and the lyrics say "And now here you will stay for your crimes committed", insinuating some kind of jail or prison. But I was reading the report of Mic Todd saying that he was put under home confinement (house arrest). I think Claudio made this song for his story, NOT for Mic Todd.
i get what you mean but he may of took aspects of the Mic Incident to make a new story, it may not be about mic but the emotions he felt when the incident occurred.
I love this.
Claudio wrote this song about Michael Todd after the fiasco last year. I find it beautiful and heart-breaking.
We gave our strength
And now we have no choice
The bird has grown the coop
And broke his singing voice
We can't wait for you to change;
We tried...
So, until that day, goodbye…
Domino is about Mic Todd. Claudio talks about it in the Billboard interview
Amazing song, so frickin emotional
you can find the tab on cobalt and calcium in the forums.
For your crimes commited... You are missed
I cry evertim.
No one going to mention how the guitar for this is almost identical to the bonus track
'homecoming" on the demos for ascension?
How can people "kind of feel like this song is about Mic"? It obviously is did you actually listen to it..THIS IS ABOUT MIC
Definitely my favourite song off the E.P although, it has taken me a while to warm to Chondra's voice. Especially on Erizo Schultz. Eitherway Claudio's still the man!
You deserve the internet.
Definitely about Mic. This is breaking my heart.
AAAAAAHHHHH i'm 43 seconds in and love it :D
i love when his wife sings with him sounds soo good
Yes a man is capable of making a bad song... but he is no man... he is god!
Dominos downfall is about Mic Todd. Claudio says so in the new bonus DVD
I don't support his actions, but I still support Mic Todd.. :c
If it doesn't come direct from Claudio, I'm going to question it.
yes
Only just found out Mic has been diagnosed with Cancer and is selling his Bass to pay toward medical bills.
This reminds of "Dead" by Joey Eppard...I wonder if it was inspired by it? Both are great songs, genius you could say. It's truly inspiring.
No...I think it is absolutely impossible for him to create a bad song :)
In Claudio we trust! I have every album two sometimes three fold. :) Only REAL artist worth anyone's support.
No this song is actually about Claudio's imaginary friend he used to have when he was growing up named Tic Modd but when Claudio turned 35 he realized he had to part ways with Tic after he robbed a Toys R Us.
The guitar sounds like Closer to the heart by Rush
I wouldn't go as far as calling him God, but I would agree that he is no man...He is CLAUDIO :D
Yet once again my bank account goes to Claudio and the Coheed family
10 times in a row i've played this? idk, i lost track.
I assume yes.
alright look, if this is about mic i have to call major bullshit on the band.
i have mic added on facebook & he's said that he hadn't talked to any of the band members in months, partially out of embarrassment. he's a recovering addict that went from being a rock star to working at fucking panera. now he's got cancer and has been considering selling the bass he recorded good apollo with to make ends meet.
if the band really has his back, you owe him something a little more tangible than this.
I was holding my shit...then I lost my shit...Bravo
Dominoe the Destitute is for sure.
aw mic oh my god crying
Can you guys stop saying that every song is about Mic Todd now? Every PFI song and every song on the Afterman has a comment about Mic Todd. All of these songs are not about Mic Todd.
i find the guitars very similar, just here it is higher. like a mix between iron fist and homecoming. clearly im alone on this.
Bus as in tour bus? "Here you will stay" out of the band? Lol idk. It can be about whatever you want it to be about. For me its about an old friend.
The all seeing Eye is a symbol meaning something if it comes from Claudio. The cover has a meaning to not get lost in the corruption of politics
It is.
