Dave Grohl is someone I would love to meet. He is really tuned into what music is really about and speaks on a blue collar level. In a world full of arrogant musicians where egos are usually bigger then their talent I'm thankful there is a Dave Grohl out there. We need more like him.
Dave is sort of like the Steve Jobs of music because he reminds you how simple it is to do exactly what he did. As opposed to somebody who is determined to seem like some kind of unobtainable genius.
I love dave.that guy is so down to earth.Ive been a fan since day one.I remember getting a new foo fighters cd the night before, going to work on time. Id pull into work park like 10 minutes early and going into work 10 minutes late cuz i couldnt stop listening!
Love listening to Dave Grohl speaking. He tells a great story. Seems to me that everyone in that room is wasted and in love with him. How does he keep so grounded
Dave you are the man, jamming is an out of body experience sometimes that's what I crave not the stage or the money........well er maybe but music is the addiction!
if it weren't for that guy who mentioned the darling nikki cover, i never would've discovered that great song! Thanks guy, and damn, that darling nikki song is fucking kickass!
Yes, you can achieve anything. I have spent my life mastering things, from classical piano and competing as a child to playing in a punk band that toured and then artwork now and living as a full time professional artist. I have people tell me "well your just naturally talented or it's a gift from god" and I tell them "bullshit, talent doesn't exist, all it is is drive and being stubborn enough and also confident enough to stick with something and know you will get better". Some have to work a little harder than others but that is just differences in brain computing not talent.
This Q&A would be excellent without the incessant screaming in the background over every tiny comment. How embarrassing. Just listen to what he's saying for christ sake.
Let me just say this. "Sound City" could be, No, IT IS! the most watched Blu-Ray DVD I have watched! The start is key, trust me. The history here just signifies what it is all-about! Quality of Sound! Plain and simple, Quality of Sound that is not like these times of "Sound City". Paul McCartney, pretty much shows what and how good the band Nirvana is! :)
EQ-smoove calm down wee chappy, i admire your obvious deep-rooted defensive love an respect for Dave an the foos but the dude was just sharing an observation. What does it matter if he's sunk a few jars?!?!? An even if that transpires to be the case, as in the drink isnt for the reason that it'll help him to loosen up an keep perky for (prob the umpteenth interview he's done that day!) Who cares?! It's his choice an doesn't necessary reflect that a drink before an interview is an inclination of his day to day routine/behaviour
I always love hearing Dave speak. But this audience is pretty insufferable. It’s obvious that many of them are pretty sloshed on wine, and that’s fine, I like to drink, too.. so, I get it. But do you really have to squeal at ever other fraggin’ sentence Dave speaks? Girl, drink some water or something. …But honestly, the real cringer is at 32:20 when Dave explains that Shivaun was reduced to working at a Pottery Barn once Sound City closed… and you hear a whole group of people in the audience freakin LAUGH at that statement. Like, really? That’s funny to you? Let me tell you all this, for those of you who aren’t familiar with California; Napa is a very wealthy, privileged, white, uber rich area which is home to a a lot of pampered, self-entitled individuals who are very out of touch with the struggles of common people. The laugh that came from that audience made my heart hurt, and I’m glad I wasn’t there because I probably would have screamed at them. I don’t know what’s wrong with people. There’s a much better Sound City Q&A that he did at UC Santa Barbara with a much better audience. Side note: I attended one of the Prince shows at the Inglewood Forum in 2010 and it was AMAZING. Stevie Wonder made a surprise appearance. And the show tickets were $10. Incredible.
That's pretty far off dude. For YEARS he refused to talk about his time in Nirvana and about Kurt Cobain because it was really personal for him. Everyone always finds a way to bring up Nirvana and Kurt Cobain in interviews and isn't til recently that he's been open to talk about it. Foo Fighters sell out huge stadiums why would he need to bring up Nirvana to sell?
RIGHHHHTTT. Very aware of your type. I bet you go to Church. The good people that drop f bombs are the bad people, but the church goers that lead deceitful or violent or abusive lives are great because they apologize to the sky wizard. GET OFF OF THE INTERNET.
min 8:13 "if it werent for Paul McCartney, I wouldnt be here..." Uh, no. If it werent for Kurt Cobain, youd be driving a truck Dave. Yeah, that dude who was brutally murdered in 1994? Yeah, THAT dude.
RideMyTruck Kurt is a great and deserves a huge part of the success of Nirvana, no doubt about it...but Dave was the fifth drummer who they recruited(he quit the band he was in to join them, they had one album and felt they were missing a good drummer, so they recruited Dave). Daves hesitant style of drumming on smells like teen spirit help; make the song.
I could listen to dave talking literally all day
Me too.
Omg...same!!!😂😘❤️😍💖🌈🌼😱🌸🎶
with youtube you can do that
I do listen to dave grohl talking all day... get sick of interviewers asking the same questions tho
He talks a lot of sense and truths of my life same causes different effects 😊🤘

Agreed!
This is just further proof that Dave Grohl is the coolest dude in rock and roll today! Much love Mr. Grohl. Much love!
Dave is sort of like the Steve Jobs of music because he reminds you how simple it is to do exactly what he did. As opposed to somebody who is determined to seem like some kind of unobtainable genius.
I think his accessibility is what makes Dave so likable. He's an everyday guy who is incredibly talented but not egomaniacle.
steve jobs was actually a huge douche
RhythmGrizz pound it
One of the most intelligent, articulate humans ever to play rock & roll.
How lucky he was to get to jam with one of his heroes.
I love dave.that guy is so down to earth.Ive been a fan since day one.I remember getting a new foo fighters cd the night before, going to work on time. Id pull into work park like 10 minutes early and going into work 10 minutes late cuz i couldnt stop listening!
Foo's the greatest!!!!
not only is this dave an amazing musician and a great, funny and awesome person, he's a hero

Great to see grohl paying tribute to the beatles, wonderful talks too. Good watch.
What a powerful man, powerful musician and all round interesting guy
if it weren't for that guy who mentioned the darling nikki cover, i never would've discovered that great song! Thanks guy, and damn, that darling nikki song is fucking kickass!

With the idea of keeping the human element alive and keeping vinyl records relevant Dave Grohl and Jack White should come together and collaborate !
Eric Gutierrez no, they should not
This is why we love Dave!
Dave make me proud. 💯❤❤
Just like he promised, they ARE actually back
Zalo hell yes, good ol dave!
TH-cam recommended this video to me, so i'm watching it like a good user.

This Q&A would be excellent without the incessant screaming in the background over every tiny comment. How embarrassing. Just listen to what he's saying for christ sake.
He fucking teaches himself to do everything!

I've been to the Kinko's in Bellingham.

raw and dirty equals Nirvana. Foos totally same with a huge twist.

That story is gold!
If people bought LP for kids it would totally work. He's right.

He's funny as shit he should do stand up haha but he kind of sounds like Kyle Cease
Excellent!
Should've been some MORE CHEAP TRICK in the S. City doc/movie... but I thought it was pretty awesome nonetheless.
A fantastic Q & A ruined by the public

no the foo fighters are really big he isnt selling the shit out of kurt people are just interested in nirvana
That's pretty far off dude. For YEARS he refused to talk about his time in Nirvana and about Kurt Cobain because it was really personal for him.
