The ddraig goch is way older than Owain's banner. They were used by the northern kings since the 5th century. Glyndwr's flag comes from the arms of Powys and Deheubarth I think. But the dragon is also from folklore and is more a symbol of resistance against invaders. Definitely more meaningful.
