one time at a family party. i played old canyons ONCE in 2022 and that was on my cousins oculus and i remember getting stuck in the canyon and tried for one 1 to get out, it was fun, annoying and i got out! and then 5 minutes later my vr died. i was lmao and my cousin said, ''you can charge it while i go to sleep im going fishing tomorrow and im waking up early, just dont buy anything or else'' so i charged the vr and didnt get cosmetics because i was intimidated about the ''or else'' in his words. I went to caves and got freaked out every time a monke tagged me. 2 hours of playing later (and 4 cases of my vr dying) i met a guy who was like ''hey wanna go into a server together'' i said yes but told him my vr was going to die soon. and then 2 seconds later. my vr died 💀 these 3 hours FORCED me to get a vr on my next birthday on 2023. and i did! i went on and went into caves only to find......it blocked :( i was devastated and so i went to canyons and that was different. although not as fun at all i still had a giggle and a laugh. ive been playing gorilla tag ever since. and let me tell you when i say i was happy to see the og caves map you couldnt imagine HOW happy i was. this is my little origin story of gtag that i decided t osay because this video reminded me of og canyon

I'm sorry but can people stop commenting this genuinely every younger player I've seen is either dead, innocent or only saying something mean because they were pushed to the limit by just getting jumped by the whole lobby. The only times I've seen someone say stuff like this or at least the majority is because of usually the age ranges between 11 to 15 being genuine edge Lords and shouting slurs. Just today there's been two different teenagers saying the n-word about 50 times and if a 8-year-old tried to interfere they would just get jumped. it's the edgelord teenagers ruining the game. The toddlers have been there since the start and have been either chill or easily ignored
Something that made the older versions of Gorilla Tag more fun, was that everything was NEW, the city update is my personal favorite update because it brought something that we hadn't seen, free cosmetics, it was a new thing, but now, gorilla tag continues to add new things, but not in a way that makes them new
I think another reason Gorilla Tag used to feel amazing is because it’s a game that a lot of people new to VR in general played, so the feeling of being in a virtual world felt magical. Now, we’re on VR on the norm, so it just feels normal.
How about one day soon, we will do an event in gorilla tag where we will play like it’s OG gorilla tag, the event will be called #gorillatothepast or something like that.
I had a really wholesome moment with someone. I did the bump fists thing and had a friendship bracelet. I wanted to bump fists with another player and they saw my bracelet and were shocked. I got to watch them try to figure out how I had it, then when they had it, they had such a happy reaction. It was so sweet
i remember vividly when i joined, it was about 9 months after the game came out (not sure exact month and date but sometime in 2022) and i had heard about it by my friend. i got an oculus headset for my birthday, and downloaded the game. i loaded in, then... waited about 20 minutes because i thought there was a jumpscare- so anyways i got to the edge and a yellow monkey saw me relatively quickly and soon the whole lobby was begging for me to come down. i jumped down and everyone was super nice, no one was yelling, and it was all peaceful. some people taught me how to play, and with that i logged off. i started playing A LOT with my friends and usually hung around in (og) caves. about a couple months later Christmas spun around and there were a WHOLE lot of new players. i felt advanced tbh- and thats my experience yeh
How to fix gtag: Make moderation stricter and add new stuff instead of only bringing back old stuff. For instance, in the summer update they added back the camp stuff, they should add new summer stuff alongside the old summer stuff.
I keep taking breaks from gorilla tag, but every time i come back on after a year, half a year, etc, it doesn't feel as fun. I keep getting people asking to go ghost hunting or to film a video with them just for them to not show up in the lobby after about half an hour to an hour of waiting
quitting gorilla tag was one of my best decisions, ive been allot happier since i left that game. all this hope that the community and the game would get better just to be let down SOOO MUCH
I agree I didn’t quit but I’m no longer addicted like my brothers I only play once a week and when I do I just play the game for fun and I don’t get caught up in socializing with that terrible community.

In my experience gtag has always been fun since I started and 90% of the lobbies I go into I find at least one person I bond and have fun with and most the time I stay in the 1st lobby I join till I get tired or my headset dies
I don’t think we can blame the developers because they kept the game fresh and it’s really good now. But as an OG I will admit that I miss the old days and the interactions that came with it. I also miss the days where people could just play a game and joke around without using broken tricks like the water gliding thing

I loved the game and the mysteries, and more of my friends started playing the game. But ever since the GD3 update, me and my friends stop playing less, the game got dull, and I play once every week now. It’s just not the same.. and now they changed freaking shop.
I feel like what made toxicity worse was the creation of new slurs, and also since teens and young adults had the ability to swear, they passed that along to the newer community. I don’t really want a Christmas event to happen. People will cuss out new players, and nobody defends people. Honestly i feel like the reply section can make some codes for people to just chill in.

something i keep seeing with old clips of gorilla tag is the world seems so much more vibrant. the colors especially in forest and canyons are so much brighter and full of life. now the lighting is just dull and basic, and doesn’t seem as lively and joyful as it used to.
The old gorilla tag community was the best, im saying this as a 14 year old so when i started (3 years ago) i was 11, i was glad i didnt cause trouble and could enjoy the game for what it was rather than be blinded by the 6 year olds cussing me out every 5 minutes.
In my opinion, Old gorilla tag was alot better even during christmas 2022 which some people would disagree with but with every new update, especially big updates like gtags birthday, halloween, christmas etc... it just distracts you from the games toxicity and actually makes you focus on having fun and playing the games update. It kinda sucks now though that people, mainly kids/teenagers make it their goal to bring everyone down because stuff isnt going their way. I ask a moderator if they had started to notice any bullying and toxicity and they said they had, and although christmas played a big part in gtags community, i think it couldve been due to Echo VR being shut down because if you were to look back at the game you could see people being competetive and a bit toxic.
Gorilla tag is like minecraft. From a critic standpoint, the game has gotten "better" with more features, polished textures, more detailed cosmetics, etc. However, from an OG fan's standpoint, the game as a community has gotten worse with an infection of toxic small children plaguing the game. I feel like the game got "better" and polished over its lifespan, but the community had gotten worse, and that kinda tricks older OG players into thinking the game itself had gotten worse.

Gorilla Tag has literally lost its colour. Also I used to be a modder, I would ghost troll, soundboard troll, and those different things, but eventually it just became repetitive. Ghost trolling isn’t even worth it anymore because the kids don’t get scared, they just report you and you move on to the next lobby. That being said, modding is a privilege, and almost all games had them, but what sucks about gorilla tag is that they continue to take away the modding, even if it’s harmless.
I think its because the first few times you play you dont think about any of the complex stuff and just have fun. I think its a mix of the new things we've been given and we used to not overthink the game. Also nice vid 👌

Christmas update/halloween updates are the community’s only hope at this point those updates where the BEST they were fun, original, colorful and CHRISTMAS 2022/2023 at night the lights decorations EVERYTHING at night looked SOOOO good and 2023 Christmas update cosmetics weren’t as good but ATLEAST forest actually looked so much more prettier at night and day im just so hyped for Christmas again.. (I always am)

I have the early access badge. (Nobody cares, but I do :D) Edit: I first started playing g-tag a couple months before early access left. So, late 2022-ish.
I started playing in 2022 December. but my sis asked me to get banned and got her meta account banned too and it took months to get it back but had to make a new account meaning i am considered new.
I think gt should make a "legacy version" or a "legacy map" where you could teleport to the old maps, and I think what I really hate is the sky, and the atmosphere. I mean, i like it but what i mean is for me its just so boring, there shoudl be mroe settings i think, the atmosphere changes everything to me. Like we could be able to change sky colors, the light colors around the map, and how dark or light the game is. also the moderation is also getting worse, they should just start adding auto things in each server where if someone was toxic, ai could detect it and just mute / kick them. Im not in any way an old player, but ive still been "playing" for a while, i took like a 2 year break, came back, and everyhing just felt different. it was so dull, so dark. I swear it was more bright and happy then, i feel like everything is too dark.

Gorilla tag was fun not just because of the game itself but also the interactions then you could play with players your age and actually make friends but now 9/10 lobbies are filled with little kids and even the older people are insecure and toxic sometimes. I haven’t got rid of gorilla tag because of the nostalgia but even when I give it a chance I end up on another game because I’m tired of getting cussed out by 9 year old kids who’s parents aren’t home. Gorilla tag is an example of why community can make or break a game. 😕
The problem is the growing community made the devs (another axiom or somin) change the game for the community, which by late 2022 was mostly children joining after Christmas, meaning rather than it being a simple game where people could chat or hang out in a more peaceful world, it was an eratic and bright more "modern" game where the new maps became complex making learning the game a lot less just meeting people and swinging your arms around to being able to hit glitches on the smallest pixles and wear the most colourfull cosmetics. Which isnt always bad but it meant the people who found pleasure in the simplicity couldn't do so as the game became catered towards the younger more energetic minds of the children making up a large proportion of the playerbase.
Short answer: most of gtag community is 14 year olds trying to be edgy cuz it barely changed at all (except for the community) and it’s ONLY 3 YEARS OLD LIKE BRO DOES LITERALLY ANYONE IN THE GTAG COMMUNITY KNOW WHAT NOSTALGIA MEANS NOSTALGIA IS WHEN U MISS THINGS FROM ATLEAST LIKE 10 YEARS AGO AND NO IT ISNT THE “good days” ITS UR CHILDHOOD AND MOST OF THE GTAG COMMUNITY IS STILL IN THEIR CHILDHOOD LIKE U SAID URSELF

Maybe one reason could be that when gorilla tag first released in the “og” phase, everybody was shocked and amazed and the moving mechanic where you have to actually move your arms in real life and actually hit the objects in game. At this time pretty much every game required you to just move your joystick to move around. So that cool and nice feeling of walking in a forest, a Grand Canyon, etc as a monke! Also socializing with other monke’s roaming around playing around about the maps too.

They made a good choice in bringing back OG caves but 1. It’s supposed to be a rotation map so if they want to keep it they should make more room for a new map 2. I love the idea of the doors and it really amps up the scariness but with the new gated areas we lost people who want to play mines only or people who want to play crates or statues. It was a good improvement but took away that idea that there is more than just simple tag

what's actually crazy is I'm one of them. I played the game last Christmas since ppl said it was fun. Tried it and was being nice but ofc there was little kids calling me slurs and saying I'm ass. Now I only play ambush in caves but there people just say out of pocket stuff. It's still fun but I miss playing infection

I've just realised how orange canyons is compared to when I started playing
I have only played gorilla tag for three months now but even in that small timeline so much has changed
I remember people were a lot nicer when I first played
Maybe is spawned in a nice lobby or smth
But almost every time I play gorilla tag there is a 90% chance I find a lobby with someone cussing out everyone or saying super bad things to little kids

I still miss the old gorilla tag
something i keep seeing with old clips of gorilla tag is the world seems so much more vibrant. the colors especially in forest and canyons are so much brighter and full of life. now the lighting is just dull and basic, and doesn’t seem as lively and joyful as it used to.
As a new player with no nostalgia for the game new forest seems way more colorful and vibrant then old forest

The old gorilla tag community was the best, im saying this as a 14 year old so when i started (3 years ago) i was 11, i was glad i didnt cause trouble and could enjoy the game for what it was rather than be blinded by the 6 year olds cussing me out every 5 minutes.
In my opinion, Old gorilla tag was alot better even during christmas 2022 which some people would disagree with but with every new update, especially big updates like gtags birthday, halloween, christmas etc... it just distracts you from the games toxicity and actually makes you focus on having fun and playing the games update. It kinda sucks now though that people, mainly kids/teenagers make it their goal to bring everyone down because stuff isnt going their way. I ask a moderator if they had started to notice any bullying and toxicity and they said they had, and although christmas played a big part in gtags community, i think it couldve been due to Echo VR being shut down because if you were to look back at the game you could see people being competetive and a bit toxic.

Gorilla tag is like minecraft. From a critic standpoint, the game has gotten "better" with more features, polished textures, more detailed cosmetics, etc. However, from an OG fan's standpoint, the game as a community has gotten worse with an infection of toxic small children plaguing the game. I feel like the game got "better" and polished over its lifespan, but the community had gotten worse, and that kinda tricks older OG players into thinking the game itself had gotten worse.

Gorilla Tag has literally lost its colour.
Also I used to be a modder, I would ghost troll, soundboard troll, and those different things, but eventually it just became repetitive. Ghost trolling isn’t even worth it anymore because the kids don’t get scared, they just report you and you move on to the next lobby. That being said, modding is a privilege, and almost all games had them, but what sucks about gorilla tag is that they continue to take away the modding, even if it’s harmless.
I left the community quite awhile ago because of toxicity, drama and so much more.
I think its because the first few times you play you dont think about any of the complex stuff and just have fun. I think its a mix of the new things we've been given and we used to not overthink the game. Also nice vid 👌
I quit gtag the community got so toxic and racist. It’s like I couldn’t go into one server without someone saying slurs it’s like I couldn’t play the game anymore like everybody says it just doesn’t feel the same. There’s not like good moments anymore meeting nice little kids just all gone😢
Christmas update/halloween updates are the community’s only hope at this point those updates where the BEST they were fun, original, colorful and CHRISTMAS 2022/2023 at night the lights decorations EVERYTHING at night looked SOOOO good and 2023 Christmas update cosmetics weren’t as good but ATLEAST forest actually looked so much more prettier at night and day im just so hyped for Christmas again.. (I always am)

In my opinion, i kinda like the state the game is in now, the community toxicity is just a large minority and i like it how the rest can band together to stop, and i like the new graphics and updates because the graphics make the game look colourful and pop more, especially forest at night, and the updates and the maps can give players have a main map, so if you dont like a map then play the others

I think gt should make a "legacy version" or a "legacy map" where you could teleport to the old maps, and I think what I really hate is the sky, and the atmosphere. I mean, i like it but what i mean is for me its just so boring, there shoudl be mroe settings i think, the atmosphere changes everything to me. Like we could be able to change sky colors, the light colors around the map, and how dark or light the game is. also the moderation is also getting worse, they should just start adding auto things in each server where if someone was toxic, ai could detect it and just mute / kick them. Im not in any way an old player, but ive still been "playing" for a while, i took like a 2 year break, came back, and everyhing just felt different. it was so dull, so dark. I swear it was more bright and happy then, i feel like everything is too dark.

Gorilla tag was fun not just because of the game itself but also the interactions then you could play with players your age and actually make friends but now 9/10 lobbies are filled with little kids and even the older people are insecure and toxic sometimes. I haven’t got rid of gorilla tag because of the nostalgia but even when I give it a chance I end up on another game because I’m tired of getting cussed out by 9 year old kids who’s parents aren’t home. Gorilla tag is an example of why community can make or break a game. 😕

The problem is the growing community made the devs (another axiom or somin) change the game for the community, which by late 2022 was mostly children joining after Christmas, meaning rather than it being a simple game where people could chat or hang out in a more peaceful world, it was an eratic and bright more "modern" game where the new maps became complex making learning the game a lot less just meeting people and swinging your arms around to being able to hit glitches on the smallest pixles and wear the most colourfull cosmetics. Which isnt always bad but it meant the people who found pleasure in the simplicity couldn't do so as the game became catered towards the younger more energetic minds of the children making up a large proportion of the playerbase.

Maybe one reason could be that when gorilla tag first released in the “og” phase, everybody was shocked and amazed and the moving mechanic where you have to actually move your arms in real life and actually hit the objects in game. At this time pretty much every game required you to just move your joystick to move around. So that cool and nice feeling of walking in a forest, a Grand Canyon, etc as a monke! Also socializing with other monke’s roaming around playing around about the maps too.

They made a good choice in bringing back OG caves but 1. It’s supposed to be a rotation map so if they want to keep it they should make more room for a new map 2. I love the idea of the doors and it really amps up the scariness but with the new gated areas we lost people who want to play mines only or people who want to play crates or statues. It was a good improvement but took away that idea that there is more than just simple tag
