As a Clevelander lol, we just call it Polish Boy, we also have a Polish Girl, it's made the same way but has BBQ pork shoulder meat on it too... it's really good
Hot Sauce Williams used to have the best ones in Cleveland. Tangy sauce with a little kick and they slathered it all on there. Miss that place. So good
Oh Virgil Whitmore is turning in his grave RIP Virgil! This is a Cleveland thing as so many have commented. I'm a Clevelander and we frequently make them at home. Since you dipped your toe in Ohio regionals, I'd love to see you replicate the Roman Burger from Mr. Hero. This one is another Cleveland favorite.
Looks great! Where I live in Texas has a heavy German and Czeck influence. A restaurant near me has two slaws on their menu. A "side slaw" and a "sandwich slaw." They are totally different animals, but are the best at what they do. Happy New Year and stay safe! Prayers for California from Texas!❤
Living in Cincy for 25 years, I haven't heard about this "Polish Boy Sandwich". Sounds like I've been missing out! The slaw sounds like a winner for pulled pork. Good video sir!
Wow looks good, Greg! Well, as for the Cincinnati style bbq sauce, I wouldn't be surprised if they added hints of chili powder, cumin, and cinnamon, lol. Enjoy and stay safe.
I noticed that you cooked the fries in a Vevor. Weren't they the same company that made the vacuum sealer you reviewed & recommended? Did you also do a review of their fryer?
The Hotdog came in, from German immigrants trying to imitate the *"Bratwurst"* in a *"Brötchen".* > All stays and falls with the king of this meal and this are 2: The *"Bratwurst"* and the *"Brötchen"* > Since most german immigrants came in from the main port town *"Hamburg"* germans biggest port town, check the *"Hamburger Knackwurst"* Which is around 1300'ish old. It looks great. As someone with a mixed Slavic ancestry, which includes Polish, I love kielbasa. That dish is impossible to categorize. Cheers, Greg! 👍👍✌️
I remember those winds. I lived in Fontana as a kid. My grandmother was visiting from Cincinnati and had been there for over a week when the winds hit. She had been outside and came in all excited. She said "I didn't know there were mountains that close?" My dad said "Yep, it just takes the wind blowing all the smog out to sea to be able to see them." Kinda sad in hindsight because that was almost 40 years ago... can't imagine what it's like now.
Yer givin' me ideas Greg. - Thanks. I've been dreaming of (Montreal style) steamed hotdogs with mustard, relish, raw onion and sauerkraut for the last few days now. I love the coleslaw idea! - Cheers!
Hey Greg. As a video idea, would be interesting to compare the pros and cons of the LSG El Patron vs smoker-grill. They seem similar in that both are direct cookers & smokers.
I make a mustard/vinegar based "bbq sauce" to put on pulled pork. The acid balances the fat from the pork so well. To answer your question, I don't think that's a hot dog. A brat is a brat, a polish is a polish, and neither are hot dogs.
Once again you knocked it out of te ball park. I didn't think we got the Santa Ana's that far south. I'm in San Bernardino county. Pretty nasy up here. Stay safe.
Great video. Hopefully the winds die down, and the fires don't come down to San Diego. I had to evacuate twice and almost lost my parents' house and almost lost a condo in RB. I still have my bugout bag, even though I live in AZ. Stay safe Sir!
The Santa Ana winds are causing significant damages and injuries and death in LA. The map I have seen lately shows the fire is headed towards San Diego. Stay safe, my friend. Hopefully, they'll get it extinguished before it gets that far. And Polish sausage i wouldn't say it's in the hot dog category. But, there's nothing wrong with breaking away from the dogs and doing a sausage or braut video.
Lived in Cincinnati 53 years I have never heard of those here😂 especially putting french fries on them that sounds more like a Pittsburgh thing but definitely more of a Cleveland thing I think
As a Clevelander lol, we just call it Polish Boy, we also have a Polish Girl, it's made the same way but has BBQ pork shoulder meat on it too... it's really good
Smoked BBQ pulled pork/coleslaw on a bun!!! Heavenly!
Never seen/heard of the polish girl in 33 years of being in Cleveland lol
Hot Sauce Williams used to have the best ones in Cleveland. Tangy sauce with a little kick and they slathered it all on there. Miss that place. So good
Neither have I I've been here for 70 years @NickAdamany
Looks good, Greg! Stay safe from the fires!
Didn't know Cincinnati had them too. They started in Cleveland.
Montgomery inn is a traditional barbecue sauce used in Cincinnati. It has a tangy-sweet profile. Love the video. Cheers!
Montgomery inn was so good went fo there from vermot so good
Absolutely!

Damn, that’s right up my alley Greg, looked great. Be safe out on the coast brother..
Looking forward to watching this Greg! Love from Australia 🇦🇺 mate!
Thanks for the video, it made me hungry. I have got to try this ( once the ice melts and I can drive ) Thanks again and HAPPY NEW YEAR.
Hope you are safe in your neck of the woods with the Santa Anna winds. Will try this recipe this week.
The iconic Danish hot dog with remoulade, pickled cucumber slices, shrimp salad, crispy onions etc might be a fun one to re-create
Living in Cincy for 25 years, I haven't heard about this "Polish Boy Sandwich". Sounds like I've been missing out! The slaw sounds like a winner for pulled pork. Good video sir!
40 years here, this is the first time I've ever heard of the Polish Boy Sandwich.
I have no clue about the proper name for this thing but it sure looks delicious!! Thanks for sharing, brother!
Ohhhh yeah can't wait for this one!! A hotdog is a sandwich right?
45 years old lived in Cincinnati Northern Kentucky all of that time and have never heard of nor seen this anywhere.
It's a Cleveland thing
That looks awesome!!! 😋
Thank you, Charlotte!
Yum,im like the sound of that slaw, being from NC I'm a big vinegar fan.
Wow looks good, Greg! Well, as for the Cincinnati style bbq sauce, I wouldn't be surprised if they added hints of chili powder, cumin, and cinnamon, lol. Enjoy and stay safe.
Have you tried the mustard slaw at The Rendezvous in Memphis?
Hot sauce Williams and Whitmores BBQ in Cleveland had the best Polish Boys around…
I noticed that you cooked the fries in a Vevor. Weren't they the same company that made the vacuum sealer you reviewed & recommended? Did you also do a review of their fryer?
Greg's quick review of the Vevor Deep Fryer, starts at 4:50

Thanks for watching, Dwayne! Slavic descent here as well!
That slaw dressing looks interesting. I prefer less mayo in my slaw so I’m trying it.
love that tiki pole !
Thank you! Thanks for watching.

Good days and bad days. We don't go up to LA all that often though.
"Here comes those Santa Ana winds again" ~Steely Dan 1980. The best...
Those winds suck! Thanks for watching, Robert.

Thanks, Garry! I'm going to have to look into this Montreal style dogs as well.
@@BallisticBBQ The steamed dog and steamed basic bread bun are the key.
Good lookin' dog👍
Haven't seen a vid from u n awhile. Glad you're still cookin G
I took a couple weeks off around Christmas. Thanks for tuning in!
Great looking "hot dog" Greg, I will definitely be making that slaw.
Thanks for stopping in, Tom!
I've always wanted to try a Seattle Dog!!😊
Awwwn this is so interesting
Thanks for watching!

That dog looks cussed worthy Greg lol!! Great job brother!
LOL! Thanks, Eric!
An episode of "Man VS Food" had Adam Richman trying a Polish Boy in Cleveland.

Greg, check out the Hot Slaw Festival in Cleveland, Tennessee. Mustard, mayo, and heat. 👍⬆
The video is very beautiful❤❤❤
Once again you knocked it out of te ball park.
I didn't think we got the Santa Ana's that far south. I'm in San Bernardino county. Pretty nasy up here.
Stay safe.
Yeah, we get them down here as well. We've had some bad fires here in my lifetime. Cheers!
Great video. Hopefully the winds die down, and the fires don't come down to San Diego. I had to evacuate twice and almost lost my parents' house and almost lost a condo in RB. I still have my bugout bag, even though I live in AZ. Stay safe Sir!
Thank you, Tim! I was working those fires in RB... Terrible!
@@BallisticBBQ Thank you for your Service Sir!
I thought the Polish Boy was from Cleveland???
I read Cincinnati.
@BallisticBBQ ok. According to Wikipedia it was started in Cleveland. Anyways love your channel. Both your channels.
Definitely originated in Cleveland.
Yum 🌭
Nice one
I miss your beer at the end

Nice
I thought Polish Boy was a Cleveland thing.
Lived in Cincinnati 53 years I have never heard of those here😂 especially putting french fries on them that sounds more like a Pittsburgh thing but definitely more of a Cleveland thing I think
Absolutely a Pittsburgh thing…Primanti Brothers started it in 1933… fries, slaw, and tomato on a sandwich
Great Video-!!! The only thing now is you’ve started WW-3 over a Hot Dog no a Sausage no Hot Dog-!!!
🙂👍🥂
I'll prefer a bratwurst over a 'regular' hot dog anytime!
Yup! jalapeno cheddar 😘👌
All the condiments are loaded with sal. So is the sausage and the roll. Why did you add salt???
id eat it
i think that slaw needs to go on a burger!!!!!
Hope you are not In the fire area. We will pray for all the people there
Thank you! We're about 145 miles south of the fires. Cheers, Sherry.
Cleveland Ohio !!!!!
Thanks for watching!
CAN WE THE PEOPLE GET A CALIFORNIA BURRITO,,,,GREGS WAY! change it up, make the ultimate cali. burro.
I've done a traditional California Burrito video. I can put a bit of a spin on it!
A hot dog consists of a hotdog bun a hotdog an mustard and ketchup everything else is just extra
A hot dog is a sausage on a bun but is a sausage on a bun a hot dog?
Exactly!

Nope ! Its a Freakin Sammie ( lol ) Luv me sum Bosa ! But plain Jane Turd & Onion 4 me Pleaz !

Actual Polish boy here - I don't look that good :D
