  • Hey folk. I had to re-upload this video because it somehow got deleted.
In this video, I show you how you can etch logos or anything you want into aluminum. the same process can be done to etch other metals as well. I hope you enjoy!!

Finally someone who has the polarity correct 👍 nope I spoke too soon. Electrons flow from negative to positive. What happens as the electrons leave the negative anode they take small parts of the base metal. It is essentially rapid corrosion.

I would like to point out that if it were just distilled water you would be getting both hydrogen and oxygen gases. But since its salt water you will be getting chlorine gas forming on the positive terminal as well. Thats why when you had the polarities reversed your water looked kind of yellow. You were getting chlorine gas trapped in the bubbles.

@CyberDenSystems look great! May I ask with what you cut the "black vinyl like stencil"? And how did you fix it to the aluminum? Appreciated!

I find difficulty about polarity. Where to connect positive and negative clips?

Do we need higher volt to made deeper etch? Do we need to consider the amps also?

Not particularly. Higher voltage and amperage would just make it go faster. But, it would also get hotter and the fluid would evaporate faster. I set the current till it started to bubble, and kept checking on it till it was where I wanted it.

time and circulating/replacing the salt water will help for deeper etc
