    Roxas' twilight town story is actually really sad. He gets blamed for stealing, he starts having weird dreams, no one believes him, he lets down his friends against his own will (gets munny for beach stolen, gets his blue stone stonlen), his friends start to think he's crazy, and all before he can make it better, his friends forget about him and he's erased from that world. Then he finds out he's only half real. His world is fake and when he's inside Sora, he can't even say bye to his once known friends.

      I think they actually mention that it is a virtual created world, which even makes it more sad. I mean... it even wasn't real, it was all a virtual simulation. But I still don't understand then why Hayner tells Sora if they had met before. Anyway, this scene made me cry, because I know that tear was from Roxas :"(

      @@Solid_Mae It's that trope of friendships extending beyond space and time. Even if Roxas only knew the fake simulation Twilight Town gang he connected with them and that friendship extended even to the real ones who never met him. The power of hearts on display and the connections it forms is what it symbolizes.

    Honestly one of the strongest scenes in the series in my opinion, really encapsulates what makes Kingdom Hearts so great. It's a difficult to describe feeling...like a longing for what once was, and sort of a loneliness. Sora/Roxas' tear here is like a punch to the gut- you know Roxas is seeing the friends that never even knew he existed and saying goodbye to them...and then that moment on the train with Sora quietly looking out the window when it changes to space and the camera pulls back to show the northern lights...magical yet sad at the same time. There's a handful of scenes in KH I would call brilliant, this is one of them.

KH3 felt like a lore bum rush with no substance. The reason the roxas scene is so sad is playing through the entire prologue & then you get to 358 days you get a huge backstory into who roxas xion etc is. Makes the builup and appreciation that more more tragic / beautiful.

    This reminds me of when I left for the military, and though I could spend the money and go back and see them, its not the same. Same old people doing the same old stuff, not really going anywhere in life. The old part of you is still in there reminiscing and not wanting to let go of what you felt back then, but you can never get that satisfaction from it anymore because your'e different. You are no longer one of them and going back will only compel you to leave again.

    • @MysticNessly
      @MysticNessly  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Nigel Jaggard Hi Nigel. When you mean leaving "them" are you referring to leaving your family/friends back home or leaving your friends/colleagues in the military? I'm thinking you mean people at home, but I'm not sure.
      Although I've not been in the military, I can understand the sentiment. It feels like going "back in time" but in a regressive way.

      And to be honest Nigel I am honestly afraid that's really close to what I feel is going to happen to the people that voted for Trump. Leaving my personal feelings aside if you voted for him there is part of however small (especially if you are older) that thinks you are going to get your old life back.
      I think SOME and I stress SOME of the supporters (the really staunch ones) truthfully believe that when he brings back the factories and coal mines their life will go back the way it was.
      They truthfully believe somewhere deep down inside of them that they will come from the coal mine or the factory job and have their kids little. their husband or wife back and/or alive and young again, they themselves will be young again, all their friends and family will be back, all their medical issues will be cured etc etc the list goes on and on.
      Like I said I don't think they are even aware of this. And truthfully as much as I might not agree with them I actually feel sorry for them. Because when they find out that "you can't go home again" it is going to hit them like a truck. The worst part they aren't even going to be able to pinpoint WHY they feel so broken and disappointed.
      Trump taped into anger there is no denying whether you like him or not. But there is also something else he tapped into that no one seems to mention. That of course being the nostalgia I just referenced. He didn't even have to say the above events were going to happen. People just heard the factories and coal mines and assume this is how it is going to be. Even if Trump didn't mean to tap into this he did.
      Good memories (ironically) are sometimes and I stress sometimes even more dangerous than bad memories. Where sometimes good memories can save your life they can also lead you to do things that you wouldn't normally do to get that feeling back. To get that world back.
      It is for lack of a better term a drug with no high. The only high is the memory and just like a drug addict some people will do ANYTHING to get those "good old times back".

    Scenes like this and in KH3 when Sora gives up are small bits that hold so much more complexity behind them. The more you think about it the more it hits you have far he’s come in his journey and as a character. Holding back many emotions in his heart while putting up a happy go personality.
    I can’t wait for KH4 to show us Sora’s character development being alone in a new world hell a new reality by himself.

    The most powerful emotional scene ever in all KH. Friendship can broke all obstacles and logic, and true friendship like true love is eternal. That's why Roxas' soul is crying. He's so happy to see his friends remember him.

  • @soundrover9805
    @soundrover9805 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I think what makes this scene so powerful is that the only one crying is sora/roxas. Hayner and the others have a faint yet strong feeling as though they’re connected and if they were just able to know about their friendship with roxas then they’d be crying too. Just goes to show how sorrowful Roxas’ isolation is. It’s as if he’s tacitly saying “If only they knew…”.
    I think to have all of them crying at this point would take away how powerful and nostalgic this scene is.

    After replaying kingdom hearts 2 for the first time in a very long time and being able to understand the plot better. It seems Roxas never existed like he was a dream or in the mind. But his actions and his love for his friends in that non existent setting, caused the real people hayner olette etc to recognize Roxas inside sorry. A love so deep, so pure. They never knew who Roxas was and just sensed him. Roxas’s story is just so devastating and sad. It’s not fair but he comes to terms in the end. This scene is so wholesome but delivers such a powerful message. Well done Disney and Square Enix.

    I think this scene is one of my favorites. That single year is so sad. But it’s not as in your face about it as other sad moments in kingdom hearts(not that those aren’t good!)
    But it’s something easy to miss but so strong when you think of the context what with roxas and him missing his friends, the whole situation of him not knowing if he’ll ever see them again. It’s one of those scenes that just RADIATES sad energy even if it’s not as upfront about it as scenes in bbs or even 358, but still has that emotional energy

    Freaking amazing moment. So I'm literally playing through the series for the first time, and I was invested in Roxas and the TT prologue. Just the entire time, I was so interested in the narrative because Roxas was practically losing his mind and being gaslot by his friends and freakin' reality itself. And even before learning he's a Nobody, there's this very interesting melancholic undercurrent to everything he does. He wants to have a role in his own life and literally anything from just losing his gem while everyone else shows off the ones he gave them, to constantly having to second guess what he's seeing or whether his friends care was really heartbreaking. I don't care about Roxas' friends. I'm pretty sure that much is obvious, but this scene combined with Dearly Beloved was the first time in years that a game B R O K E me emotionally. Not to mention Sora growing a bit. He blows it off initially, and then finally admits to someone how he's feeling. And that shot of him separated from Donald and Goofy, leaning against the train door as of he wants to leave. My first baby boi's come a long way, and my second baby boi is GOOOOOOOOONE.
    I have NO clue where the story's gonna go from this point onward, and I'm both ecstatic AND terrified.
