dude you called me out, im wearing my pajamas and sitting down in a shrimp posture... overall tho, this helped so much, thank you ! also the heizou and gaming fanart is so cutee i love them smmm (i have both in game loll)
time stamps 1- 0:06 slow down 2- 1:12 practice regularly 3- 1:57 don’t give up 4- 6:43 practice (and drink some water) 5- 7:49 compare you art with other people’s art (study other people’s art) 6- 9:48 focus well, focus hard 7- 12:40 study purposefully 8- 14:40 wait to draw your illustrations 9- 17:02 train both parts of your art tools
You called me out with the dehydration and the shrimp posture! 😭 I was not prepared for that 😂 Anyways, I love your videos and the points you brought up! I will definitely be thinking about these as I continue to grow in my art! And I’ll try to be less dehydrated and shrimp-like 🥲
Fun thing about talents. Usually some aspects of art are easier for you then others, but it does not make you good. I myself actually was the artsy kid. In first grade we had to all draw our mothers. Everybody's looked like pots with ears and only mine resembled a human face. Did that help me? Nope, as an adult artist I'm not any better then most. See I drew something good, know, that it took a lot of studying. I would say the only thing that really needs you to be build for it is sports. But still only if you are going for Olympics, since there you need to push so hard that your bones might shatter. Literally, google that. Art mostly does not care, I have messed up joints and I just learned how to hold my tools in a specific way. So I can't write, but have no problem drawing
yea the feeling of being called talented is just weird for me cuz i don't really deserve the title but rather i wanted them to recognise the effort and hard work i did. Its the hard work not the talent i never really had.
NO FR the "talented" thing urks me too. It's SKILL. Not talent. I relate to a lot of things you said in this video. You remind me of myself ngl. Also I LOVVVVVVVE the way you color and render. The texture is delicious.
The random bad to the bone riff in the original did seem a little random, but it did make me not laugh but get internally amused. But to reiterate, it was scary how you were completely right about me being in the pajamas + shrimp mode combo lol
Felt like that talent rant came out of my own mind; I started tracking my time studying Japanese for a year and whenever someone said "talent" or "oh you have a language gene" I was like "oh is this 500 hours in the last year talent????" in the SAME tone. Great vid; v applicable for all skills.
2:12 Oh god, I used to be that person. Not verbally because I was shy, but internally. I was always an academic girly, still primarily am, so I thought that's just where my "talents" lie and I couldn't possibly do anything else. Started getting into art, and even though I'm just practising forms and construction right now, I'm seeing _some_ improvement at least. Even drawn some bunnies with reference using construction. :) It's clear now that the difference between my artist friend at the time and I was simply that I spent most of my time on gaming and studying down random rabbit holes while she spent that same time on art. It's really not about talent. It's about what you spend your time on.
This video is very chaotic and i love it 😭😭 im more on the "professional" (not really) side of art but i thought itd be nice to refresh myself on some stuff and i absolutely adore this video.
whats funny is that i never did chicken scratch not intentionally. i always hear people say not too, but i just love how chicken scratch looks on my art and i do everything to fit with the chicken scratch
interesting! i don't know if i said it in video, but it's not 'wrong' to use chicken scratch, it's only that it usually means you aren't confident with your lines. not in your case i see! :D (p.s. love that you have something you always cherish in your art, bestie, that's wonderful ^^)
GOSH I HAVE 7 YEARS OF BEING AN ARTIST AND I NEVER AGREED SO MUCH WITH SOMEONE EXCEPT YOU. Omg you're so fun I'm suscribing BTW YOUR ART IS SO CUTE WHAT??? I love it :"3
Also having chicken scratching at times can help add energy or like movement I guess at times it makes it look more personal and stuff but I also do fix it by going over it or erasing the lines til its not a chicken scratch anymore
I personally have alot of problems when it comes to bad habits in art. It's kinda like a tree. You need a strong root system or when you try to add branches you will be at risk of kinda just. Toppling over. Which isn't so bad if you don't feel the need to leave your comfort zone but if you wanna branch out you kinda have to un-grow the tree first. Which is. PRETTY HARD. But I'm trying to draw in new styles and processes that are completely alien to me now. And it is helping. Slowly. This is just what I get for only drawing chibi cats for the first 4 years of taking art seriously I guess. ;-; (Also yes I would very much like to see a study with me video from you)
I used to see artists chicken scratching and think “oh I need to learn how to do that… it’s like sketchy and professional looking” and now I can’t unlearn it T-T
I got recommended this vid after watching some LavenderTowne, so congrats on reaching that part of the algorithm, or something! P.S. the watery-voice filter choice for sarcasm combined with the --IM-IN-UR-WALLS-- line at 6:36 has legit given me more terror than some actual horror games, keep up the good work (salute emoji)
Thank you so much for this because a lot of times when I am making art I am like do I like it or not and also sometimes I just have to let go and keep going, 😫 it’s a process.
I’ll have you know I actually drink water regularly. But you were right about the posture. I am currently drawing while watching this and my drawing posture is my worst posture
Omg is that sky cotl fanart?!?!? (Near the beginning of the vid) I love the vid btw. Helps me out a lot with my art struggles. (If I'm wrong im sorry. I'm a little dumdum)
Box :p Uh- I mean- This is a good art tips! Art sometimes has an effect on me, working tirelessly drawing and scrapping, drawing and scrapping, over and over… Until I learned about anatomy and tips from others, anatomy is confusing, and shapes… Uh so anyways, thanks for the tips of not rushing, and take it slow and enjoy it, this is really helpful!
@@FrizzyDrawsThings I wish I can draw like that but my drawing tablets broken, I can still use a sketch book! Buut sometimes that’s a pain… I get the sketch wrong every time and I listen too every single tip, but I just scrap it anyways.
3:53 that’s not what talent means tho. Talent means you have an natural inclination or affinity for it but it doesn’t mean instantly drawn masterpieces. You can hone your talent or you can let it go to waste but it doesn’t take away from the skill you’ve built Edit: you read the definition lol 😭 idk y ppl hate the idea of talent
when i compare to other artist i light a forest on fire in my heart and am like I NEED TO DRAW LIKE THAT NOW DRAW DRAW DRAW DRAW DRAW and when i dont draw i get depression
BRUHH WHY DID YOU HAVE TO CALL ME OUT LIKE THAT. the first character you drew reminds me of a pero from creatures of sonaria (a roblox game), just felt the need to point that out lol
Babe, do a total realist person. I very much enjoy the characters you draw but I want to see some Grey's Anatomy art. It has always been my goal and I want to see it! Gimme, I need!
if there's one tip I can give you is maybe don't say everything that goes trought your brain cause if you don't filter your logigal sencical thought from the ones that just are more like thought of stuff that you wouldn't do or mean but you say it anyways cause you don't think of what you're saying if that makes sense
This was actually such an enjoyable video and there’s been lots of good advice, from one artist to another!! But just as a little nod; maybe try to use the voice effect less, because hearing it every other sentence made it a little hard to get through the video at times 😓 Apart from that, great content!
yes! anything! however you want! whenever you can! to train yourself! yes! eee! do what you can and don't focus on what you can't. let yourself acknowledge that you are learning. learners who don't have to learn aren't learners at all. if you spot mistakes, that's a good sign! better to see them than to be blind to them. if you have hands, that means you can draw (maybe even if you don't have hands idk i haven't looked into that) and if you can draw, that means you can hone your skill. don't rush yourself bestie
my self esteem was shattered long before you stepped on its pieces like a mad creature screaming out of a forest clearing about cameras or whatever forest creatures are yapping about these days, capitalism or something idk
Had to stop watching by 4:08 because of the overuse of that distorted voice filter. No offense but it just made it very annoying to listen to but your regular narration is fine
