- Its all going on now at our big summer job, got the d6 and scraper stripping topsoil, so we can dig clay out of the pond and spread it on the filed, after that topsoil goes back on! #caterpillar #ropebox #D4h #power #earthmoving #zv1
Is your D6D a 4X series? It handles the flat bottom 70 scraper pretty good. It would be better if the scraper didn't have side boards. They make the scraper harder to load and harder to dump. We had an 80 with side boards and I didn't like that. The larger 435 and 463 scrapers, the apron can lift higher making them easier to dump. I think you can tighten your apron cable a bit more, but you have to be careful. I've pulled an apron apart on an 80 because I had the cable too tight. Too bad you can't put a 29 cable unit on a D6D. They are live driven and the levers go through or under the fuel tank, making it easier to put a rear screen on the canopy. A rear screen is essential. I've had the sheaves come off the front of those scrapers, and they will stop anything from hitting you if that happens.

I've currently got a Komatsu D53P-18 with a Heil half cable/hyd set up, goes well, if we're in hard cut, my D85P-21 gives some assistance from the rear, all in all, love the old bully and scrapers
