I like the Custom Inshore for wadefishing (and dunking) they're pretty much bomb proof! Just rinse or soak and repeat. (and a once or twice a year thorough cleaning).
Ok Sir, I just bought the Daiwa Tatula 150 HSL and the 7’6” MH St Croix Mojo inshore rod based on your review. Going to hit the local bass ponds and winter trout in FL , thank you Sir, it’s true about the magnetic breaks, put the setting on #6 and cast away. 😊. Thank you Cory
The issue with double supported pinion gear fishing saltwater, that other bearing is under the yoke so that salt will get trapped within that bearing after a while it will start creating resistance that's the reason behind the spool shaft wear.
I agree with you on reels that have centrifical brakes with magnetic fine tune not being as good as magnetic brakes only. I now use Tatula 100 reels because they have the best magnetic system going. I also use the Lews lfs reel which is magenetic only and is only $100 .
Morning Ross. Great video. Guess I’m old fashion. My favorite combo, was from the 80’s. Shimano Bantam Mag 10Xsg mounted on a Texas made All Star IM6 ‘Shrimptail Special’ rod. Thanks for sharing today’s video. Safe travels…..
I have a Lews custom inshore and its smooth like butter but the casting distance is not great, glad you addressed this cuz I didn’t know why, maybe a video on how to lube the brakes. Ps- my tatula ct is a favorite of mine also the tatula70 is great.
My personal opinion is Sponsorship creates lies and takes the fun outta fishing. Hate to hear you say this. The last we 'spoke' you were happy with the blue wonder. Daiwa is the only brand that has never disappointed me. The blue SV is really meant for the lighter side of things. I had The Shimano DC is loud. I've been baitcasting since the 70's. I don't need a computer to help me cast. Maintenance is the key. Baitcasters with bearing on the spool shaft must be air dried after each use by removing the spool from the body. Daiwa or Shimano. Lews are disposable Doyo garbage. They leave the same back door of the factory as does Abu Revo's. I have one Coastal SV TW, four Coastal 200 TWS's, five 2017 SV TW's, four Tatula 300's, one 2020 Tatula SV, one Tatula 100. They all see brackish use constantly. I fish well over 300 days a year. The special tool to remove the shaft bearing is a must for any owner. I use thicker viscosity oil on that bearing. Either Phil Wood's Tenacious Oil or Rocket Fuel Liquid Grease. Always open remove and air dry, it's a must.
Like I said in the video I think the pinion gear was not cut right from the factory , the two Daiwas are the same age and one is perfect and the other is worn. Have always been a Daiwa fan and will continue to use them. Thanks for watching.
Yes but it's that shaft mounted bearing that directly affects the pinion, in that it supports it. It flings salts onto the pinion gear through the shafts ingress through the hole in the frame. As the bearing degrades, that support shifts, making the pinion gear shift and then groove.@@redfishross
I have a Tatula that I really like and had wondered about the SV. You answered the questions I had about that. Thanks for the information!

@@4492573 Glad you’re happy with it. It’s an awesome combo in my opinion.
Another amazing casting reel is a 13 txz or a 13 boss. No longer in production but amazing hyper salinity reels with great castability!

I didn’t see any salt inside the reel but I keep them very clean.
You want see the salt I had the same issue with mine I replaced that bearing with a bushing.

Thanks Doug , I had one of those reels also and loved it.
I swap hands while the line is still coming off the spool with my DCs. No finger on spool required.
Love love love them. 🎉🎉
Thanks for the review bud.

It’s super easy , just pop the side plate and put a few drops of light oil on the inside of the ring you will see there. Thanks for watching.
@@redfishross thanks Mr. Ross
The coastal sv I've had since came out not one problem
You can upgrade those bearings to hybrid ceramic bearings that lews casting distance will increase
I have heard that before , might have to try that.
I have two tatulas. Love them
Good reels.
Very interesting video! Can’t wait for another speckled trout video!
Thanks for watching Gary.
