He doesn’t realize until his systems malfunction I think.
@@professionalgunner8123 correct. He was a human at one point but he was killed. And hammond robotics transfered his mind to a simulacrum body (hence why hes a robot now). But they disabled the part of his memory that remembers the events that happened before he became a simulacrum. So he never realizes he died to begin with until that glass shard caused his memory to malfunction and the truth came flooding in

looking back at this, i just realised how genius this all is.
ash being shown on screen in the context of simulacrums at 0:10 whilst rev is still shown as a human and his reflection in the glass at 0:43 being human whilst he’s still clearly a simulacrum could mean that he sees some humanity in himself. it would also make sense since shadow revenant said that normal rev felt empathy, so shadow revenant just saw him as another skinbag
