I've noticed that most of Saki's opponents are visually more muscular than he is. He compensates for this with his speed, precision, power and super technique. It's just fun to watch him. 💪👍

Ive seen a few of saki's fights and general he gives alot size (height, weight, reach etc.) away being in heavy devision. Hes really a light heavyweight , this makes his wins even more impressive. Hes a tough nut, its no walk in the park put it that way.

По моему мнению Саки один из лучших недооценненых бойцов, по бойцовский навыкам. Идеальная защита, сильные и разные удары ногами, разноростороннии удары руками. При этом он не облалал мощной мышечной массой но да счёт таиминг нокаутировал соперников гораздо больше его.

The real MVP is Joop Ubeda the ref. He took a blow to the head on Melvin's first down and didn't even flinch. Then he solved the issue with people coming up to the ring which was the security guards job.. Legend!
I've been watching like the best of kickboxing I guess you'd call it here on YT. I'm blown away at some of these monsters man, the power they are able to deliver with some of there attacks is absolutely insane. The speed at which they do so as well. Damn.
Was second match, ofc there is probability to lose. If he kept going on ufc he would have dominated in my opinion. But more excited to see him again kickboxing :))
As a kickboxer you need upper body movement and footwork to make it big in the ufc, his offense was decent but he uses the high guard and with no gloves you re fucked with the high guard
It's because K1/Dutch style HW kickboxing doesn't work well with modern current era MMA. That style relies too much on being a tank and being able to eat more shots than your opponent. Most of the strikes are one-shotters with no set-up. That only works if your opponent doesn't move much and stands very close in front of you. Almost all the successful MMA fighters with a kickboxing/Muay Thai background have a much more evasive style, rather trying to avoid getting hit than just blocking it. Blocking is much harder with the smaller 4oz gloves as they easily slip through your guard. Also, being evasive with range control instead of being a tank gives you better mobility and first line avoiding defense against takedowns.

They condition them by hitting them with a cut off piece of a broom stick or me personally using a dough roller and rolling it on the shin. Makes the bones more dense and lets u not worry about how hard u throwing the kick some people done it so long they can kick metal and bend it

During the first minute it looks like each one know the power of the other. And this is awesome cause they know each one nead only one overture to finish the fight !
Melvin never recovered from that left kick that penetrated his rt. hand block and zonked his head. That's some powerful, zing in his kicks from Saki. Looks like Saki had power , speed and accuracy in both legs. Otherwise, good fight from 2 determined fighters.
Melvin is one of my favorite fighters in any promotion from this time. He is extremely underrated as his record doesnt really reflect how good he really was. He wasnt the most durable fighters ever,.. he was constantly fighting nagging injurys. He was just always so explosive and athletic. And I assume he was juicing,...but at that time .......who wasnt.

When I saw Saki throw 3 of those left hooks to the body in rapid succession for the first time I was instantly a huge fan.

It's was bc that was the worst years of his life. Injury after injury, not listening to his body and the surgery he needed.
He was old, washed up, all injured and his body was very beaten by the time he got to the UFC
Was second match, ofc there is probability to lose. If he kept going on ufc he would have dominated in my opinion. But more excited to see him again kickboxing :))
As a kickboxer you need upper body movement and footwork to make it big in the ufc, his offense was decent but he uses the high guard and with no gloves you re fucked with the high guard
It's because K1/Dutch style HW kickboxing doesn't work well with modern current era MMA. That style relies too much on being a tank and being able to eat more shots than your opponent. Most of the strikes are one-shotters with no set-up. That only works if your opponent doesn't move much and stands very close in front of you. Almost all the successful MMA fighters with a kickboxing/Muay Thai background have a much more evasive style, rather trying to avoid getting hit than just blocking it. Blocking is much harder with the smaller 4oz gloves as they easily slip through your guard. Also, being evasive with range control instead of being a tank gives you better mobility and first line avoiding defense against takedowns.

They condition them by hitting them with a cut off piece of a broom stick or me personally using a dough roller and rolling it on the shin. Makes the bones more dense and lets u not worry about how hard u throwing the kick some people done it so long they can kick metal and bend it

Melvin is one of my favorite fighters in any promotion from this time. He is extremely underrated as his record doesnt really reflect how good he really was. He wasnt the most durable fighters ever,.. he was constantly fighting nagging injurys. He was just always so explosive and athletic. And I assume he was juicing,...but at that time .......who wasnt.

There is indeed a big size difference. Saki is a natural heavyweight, Melvin is a blown up middleweight.
