This is where the saying boys will be boys came from. Everyone knew what was going to happen, but darn it you were going to try anyway. And as a fun loving girl, I approve of this endeavor.
Sounds better than relying on a Swallow. Because then you have to decide which one is more effective to deliver the payload of said Coconut- African or European?
There is no way a two-ounce sparrow could carry a three pound coconut. Perhaps if there were two sparrows and they slung the coconut in a net between them.
I made it up there last weekend and I realized the wheels in the control room have suicide handles. First time I noticed. Also a few words about the anchor would be a good video.
Was the target Ryan on the USS New Jersey? I am just glad this wasn't firing Evan's out of the #1 Tube! Somewhere on Lake Erie a coconut is waiting to be found. The finder will always wonder how the heck it got there! Well Done! on your first 100!!! I can't wait for the mysteries and antics of your next 100.
Watch out the low flying pleasure flights, once round the bay and..Now where did we pack the dingy, hope the Sub on downed flyer watch is near by.. It JG Bush
Another one of the questions on my "I didn't know I wanted to know the answer to that question" is answered. Now this one leads me to suspect that coconuts just aren't made as well as they used to be ;-)
Hmm... A green coconut might have made a better projectile. Still, glad to see you're making sure the Canadians are minding their own business on the other side of the lake. :D
Taint nuthin...... I saw a guy hit the ship moored across the pier from us with a basketball shot out from a Mk 32 torpedo tube during a routine scheduled maintenance. Looks like you used propane for the propellant. If you pack the barrel with 3-4 towels then put the coconut in and ram it home it would have tossed farther.
Coconut jokes aside, is that a 5''-25 caliber gun? If so, the projectile was fixed to the case and the sailor manhandling the round needed to be eating Spinach.
Now that you are up to 15k subscribers, can you point us to some of the other retired ships channels, maybe at end of videos? Know about the NJ and this one, any others out there?
Okay... one in every crowd 😅😅😅 Did you consider that by doing so our gun gets close attention to maintenance and loving care! And doing so has no harm on the gun whatsoever.
@@paulfarace9595 I'm sure each Captain had his method of relieving stress to/from his crew. I'm sure everyone had fun, and a happy crew makes for a happy boat. Remember what happened in the Caine Mutiny, Paul was simply rewarding his crew for a job well done. Now, back to work!
Thank you everybody for supporting our channel! We proved coconuts can migrate! Hope you enjoy this recently declassified video! 🎉🎉🎉
Nice Python reference!
You know, you can buy shredded coconut at the grocery store. 😊
Well where's the fun in that? LOL

Ya gotta know the air/speed velocity, first.
At least Paul knows his favorite color.
Navy grey

You guys crack me up! Keep doing so please!!!!
Did you remember to put the lime in the coconut and shake it all up?
How old are you to remember that line?
@@andrewd.1113 They beat me to it. And I'm 45. (Of course I've always liked music that was before my time.)
@@andrewd.1113 Appears you didn't have to look it up, my friend.
@brianb8060 They were probably shooting at a one eyed, one horned, flying purple people eater.
Since there's no doctor onboard, they'll have to call the corpsman and wake him up.
Coconut, thank you for your sacrifice!
I say again: Let’s see Ryan do that!!
Sure, but that'd be a mighty big swallow to carry a 16" coconut to the BB-62 :)
iowa got their turrets moving again.. they might be better suited to fire some fruit at passing ships :D
So that's how they make "toasted shredded cocoanut..."
That's fantastic! 👏👏👏😂😂😂And the "now it can be told" 🤣
Congratulations on the milestone! Couldn't have asked for better festivities! 🎉😂
Best saluting gun out there.

Now THIS is proper consumer advice...
The gun forced the coconut to evolve into confetti
When a good shrapnel shell is needed...
Was the coconut warhead armor piercing or HE?
looks like fragmentation to me.
CSDS (coconut shot, discarding-shell)
Made it up to see the cod on Saturday and it was great as always. Have to watch some videos then visit to see it in real life.
Just because you can, doesn't mean you shouldn't
Piña Coladas for EVERYONE! YOU GET ONE! AND YOU GET ONE! WOOOO!!!

Reminds me of "one poly bottle away" from the signal ejector at 400 ft.
Nicely done.
A Coconut ? Why not some potatoes? Wait a minute that was for a Destroyer.

congrats!
The coconut comes with its own sabot!

Everyone a coconut.
Did you remember to put the LIME in the coconut FIRST.

We use acetylene, propane is for amatures!
WW2 Anti-Drone cannon? 😂
Good video👍👍
Let's see New Jersey top that. With pedantics.
You need to update your coconut balistics charts. Coconuts dont migrate.
USS Cod honestly just makes lions think of food.
"Ooh I hates coconuts!"
I did not know a 5" gun could fire coconuts.
Neither did we until we tried...😮😅❤
Looks like you did more than shred it. You toasted it, too!
That is paper wadding... the coconut hit the water intact! But likely toasted!😅
Do you put a lime in the coconut and mix it all up?
Coconut jokes aside, is that a 5''-25 caliber gun? If so, the projectile was fixed to the case and the sailor manhandling the round needed to be eating Spinach.
Yes it is! Those rounds weighed 74 pounds.

There is Battleship Iowa here in Sol Cal.
NJ? Never heard of her 😂
You guys are too funny haha
So, no piña coladas?
Sadly no...
Flame broiled coconut
United States Department of the Boat People
Feck Yeah!
"Taste the lime in the coconut mix it all together." Thanks Evan, Paul, and crew. 100, and going strong into 101+
I suppose the real answer to that question is if the coconut was supposed to arrive on target in one piece?
Such a complete waste of material but very funny.
😄
Blatant misuse of highly complex military hardware!
