    I thought there had to be a sub audible tone on transmit. (67hz)?

    for RECEIVING, let's say, with a rubber ducky, would it be better to point the antenna AT the ISS or at right angles to it?

    • @temporarilyoffline
      @temporarilyoffline  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Since the ISS is rotating, you'll have to rotate the antenna. Try it both ways when you hear something and see how it sounds.
      I don't know if you'll ever find a perfect match... the ultimate game is a circularly polarized antenna

    Where did those frequencies come from, because what I researched online was: Voice and SSTV Downlink: 145.80 (Worldwide), Voice Uplink: 144.49 for ITU Regions 2 and 3 (The Americas) The downlink is the earth station's receiving frequency. The uplink is the earth station's transmitting frequency. Earth stations can listen to the downlink frequency and transmit on the uplink frequency.
    Is this not correct?

      There are many sources online - give them both a try and see what one works for you.

    Can you use a regular radio scanner to receive and then transmit with your other radio? For the scanner use it in scanning mode or manual mode. Just thought of it cause I already have a scanner. Thanks for the video and another subscribe and like button to press.

    • @temporarilyoffline
      @temporarilyoffline  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, there are no rules that say you have to use only one radio. In reality, a lot of satellite work is done on a pair of radios.

    Uplink 145.990M Hz FM with 67.0 Hz PL ; what does the 67hz mean?

    • @temporarilyoffline
      @temporarilyoffline  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      67hz is the frequency of the sub-audible tone that will tell the ISS repeater that you really mean to talk to it and not to your neighbor down the street. Its not really any kind of privacy, just a way to signal/rx a signal and know that it belongs to you.
