Ted Bessell and Jerry Van Dyke would each show up a few years later, on the Mary Tyler Moore Show. Each guy played a boyfriend of Mary's. On separate episodes, of course.
The old roller skates kids could buy were these metal things that could go on your shoe and you had to use a key to wind and crank the metal skates to bind to your shoes so they could kinda pinch any size shoe but you needed to use the key to get them to fit tight to your shoe and turn the key to pinch the width of your foot that is a skate 🗝️
I had a pair of skates at age 6, during 1966. Those metal skates were clunky and heavy, made of steel. I got rid of them and the key by 1970. I liked rink skates.
Aunt Harriet needed to keep her mouth shut. She continually yakked. Usually people who constantly brag about someone, the "info" is not accurate with the reality.
"Ahleen." Sorry, Mr. Marie, but your oddball New York-ish accent showed up again. It is actually pronounced 'Arlene.' Just like it isn't pronounced 'prapreeker,' but 'paprika,' from another episode. You're welcome.
Oh that tag! “a skate key?!?” and the way he chuckles as she hits him with the pillow! Marlo and Ted…….. They have the best chemistry!
Agree! Love them together ❤
ALWAYS!!!!❤
Enjoyed this series when I was a young girl n the 60's & still loving it now. Marlo & Ted will always hold a special place n my ❤.
LOVE the ending! The skate key gift is the best! Ann and Don are so cute together.

Aunt Harriet had a big mouth. No filters, and no boundaries.
So funny! Aunt Harriet is so jealous of Ann and so passive aggressive as a result
Aunt Harriet was a mean, cold snob, like George Baxter's sister Delia, in "Hazel." Maybe Delia was more of a control freak.
The woman who played Ann's mother was beautiful.
Agree.
I was thinking the same thing during the last episode she was in.
Rosemary DeCamp Ann's mother. Loved her
Rosemary deCamp
She's stunning...
Aunt Harriet has very elegant manerisms. I love the simplicity of what she's wearing.
Snob!!
@randilevson9547 yes she is, I still love what I pointed to though.
"Stop, or I'll jump."
Ya, that'll show them.
"Here's the wine, where's my daughter ?" ......talk about straight to the point 😒

Remember the song... I've got a brand new pair of roller skates and you've got a brand new key! ?
Thanks for the explanation. I'm 61 and had no idea

That is Jerry Van Dyke

Why is Marlo Thomas's voice so high and squeaky? 😮 It's certainly not now.
Jerry Van Dyke!!
So many young girls wished they were Ann lol
I was one too and finally after I turned 21 I took my first trip to NYC.
Heck. I'm in my sixties and I still want to be her?
Thanx for liking!
The windows have no screens.
The higher the floor the fewer the bugs.
Screens on windows were a later innovation.
Loved the show but she was portrayed as a struggling actress...how was it that she had all the lovely clothes?
Cause it was a TV show and a lot of women watched for her outfits. But I agree.
In TV shows and movies, clothes and homes are always going to be way better than real life.
It's just how they do it.
A sewing machine?
She spent all of her salary on her wardrobe…
A great wardrobe for a young aspiring actress is a must to attract viewers & they did it
Aunt Harriet was not a very nice person. I would use stronger language, but I am a lady. Sometimes.
To this day, I don't know what a skate key is.
Me too
@@shirleyminassian1547 And if I really needed to know, I would Google it, I guess...
Imma just keep playing That Girl episodes - have a nice day
@Carson Lee 🤣 true, google has all the answers...these shows are good to watch, that's all that matters.
A key to tighten or loosen old fashioned (or at the time contemporary I guess) roller skates which were attached to shoes
Google it
Who are you? That's Jerry Van Dyke, of course.
Good ol JVD, always annoying no matter what show he is in,remember when they tried to use him in the AGS???
I like be her dresses

Are you sure.....I mean Mr Marie is in the restaurant business 😉
