I’ve decided to go with the AWE TRACK exhaust over this due to the fact that I love how loud it is, plus I got a manual so I won’t drone nearly as much as the S-tronic. Love the vids man. You’re one of the only few youtubers to continue the S4 vids!!
@@swiftripper7557can find more of the b8 manual than 8.5. Basically the same cars, one just has more fail safe parts. 8.5 has upgraded pcv, tstat, and water pump but still has timing chain tensioner issues. 8 usually has all these parts upgraded by now but some still have stock parts that fail.
Looking for this same setup but with a resonated X pipe which I hear gets rid of all the sound you are talking about. Have you tried resonators on that setup yet?
Good video. Great thorough analysis of the AWE touring. You mentioned AWE resonated downpipes, just one correction, the cat is not embedded in that unit. Anyway nice video.
Did you remove the fuse for the fake exhaust sound out of the speakers? Apparently, the drone can be caused by that when you have an aftermarket exhaust + the fuse still in.
Thanks for the video! I've been researching this exhaust for about a month now and finally pulled the trigger on the AWE Touring for my S5 3.0. I'm gonna use it with stock downpipes for now, just to see how loud it is and how's the drone. I've noticed I have drone even when going uphill on highway with my stock exhaust, so we'll see how it goes with this one. I can always buy the resonated DPs later.. Luckily I don't do much highway driving and if I do, most of it is flat roads anyway.. :) Do you still have the soundaktor enabled? I've read that it might pronounce the cabin drone and it gets better when turned off.
kudlajz congrats on your exhaust! I took out the soundaktor fuse in the car and it made a small difference for uphill driving, and I like having the only sound being heard to be actual sound!
I have custom exhaust on my s5 and it’s a custom cat back which is straight piped like the awe track without the x pipe. It’s way way to droney at all speeds never mind motorway. I’m looking at getting rid of as much drone as possible, so I’m looking at the touring with res downpipes but as I’m from the uk they’re expensive and don’t just want to fork out for them right away
I have the same setup like yours. Now I'm fed up with the drone right around 70 mph / 2.5K rpm cruising, I'm going to install AWE resonated down pipes which they claim it will help the drone.
Badasss I’m building my 2016 a6 and found that 034 motor sports has great stock engine tunes pushing 400+ reliably for long terms would love to see you try out a tune!
I have had my AWE exhaust and love it. 102mm tips, AWE resonated Down pipe, APR Intake, Tune Stage 1. I am always in manual.. no drone, LOL always shifting. But honestly the car has minimal drone. If you put the track exhaust on.. it is a very noticeable drone.. very annoying if you daily it.
A friend of mine has the AWE resonated down pipes with your exhaust and I did not notice the drone in his car. I asked him about it and he said he does not notice a drone at all. HTH :-)

question i am trying to get a note like this, pretty deep sound w no rasp specifically. does anyone know how i can do this custom without buying an actual exhaust? The closest result i have found was resonated x pipe (in place for baby resonator), then x pipe or straight pipe for the suit case res, then stock mufflers. Also i barely looked but while i’m here is it common to see used awe touring exhaust for sale used?
This sounds pretty authentic, compared to my similar set-up (on an A6 Avant). I’ve come to the conclusion that, compared to my previous m135i, this is just not a tuneful engine. Next car likely will be another BMW in-line six

So just for clarification, the drone occurs when you are in Drive only? And the drone goes away in Manual? Is there any drone in Sport? Thx.

I have, and I think it may have been placebo, but definitely a good thing to do!
Doesn't help. Mine drones just as bad. I am running stock DPs. I wonder if the resonated downpipes help.
